Stealth Binding

Hey guys, I'm new to LP (random fact..) I have a problem. I bought a binder in February 2008 and wore it for two weeks straight. My mom noticed it and said that was why I looked so "sick" lately.. >_> She was pretty mad and ordered me to take it off..Then she took a pair of scissors and freakin CUT IT IN HALF right in front of me. It was underworks binder that cost me nearly $30. I never got paid back the money and I've been suffering more and more each time i see myself in the mirror.. I don't know what to do. I want to order from Big Brothers Used Binders (not all are used though..) but I would need to send a check or give a card number, and I know it'll show up if I use a card because my grandma looks at my statement and won't let me use my card unless it's for food. I don't know if maybe there's some way I can send cash...ANY WAY haha.. I've been trying to get a sports bra but everytime I want to my mom gives me the lecture on changing my body and how I'll never be satisfied..So I'm trying to get some Ace bandages (I hear they hurt but I'm a desperate guy..). I really don't know what to do but I need to do something because binders make me feel calmer and less suicidal..

Any suggestions?

Thanks guys!

First I want to say hi to you

I know what it feels like to have to go through that, but I can give you some suggestions. One thing you can use is a back brace, you can find them at your local drugstore, it's not the best but it will help. Just wear a few t-shirts on top. Another thing I will tell you is that an ace bandage does hurt and makes it hard to breathe. I know I binded with one for over a year. One thing you can do is see if you can purchase with a pre-paid card, or money order. That might help. Maybe the other guys have other suggestions for you. Good Luck. hang in there.

Nick will definately take a money order (the big brother program) just be sure that when he puts up that he's holding it for you you email him and ask for the extra two days so it has time to arrive in the mail. Prepaid cards are good for a lot of things when you're ordering things the only thing is you have to have an address you can receive it at presumably without people opening your mail.

Your mom is off the chain lol. You said you can buy food and have a cc so I'm guessing you're at least in college? If so, then you definately might wanna look into getting that prepaid card so you can have some privacy.

Hey guys, I was surprised you all responded so fast. You guys are geniuses, thanks! I actually bought the Ace bandage yesterday and quickly realized what everyone was talking about, but I'm going to have to use that for now. It had not even occured to me to use a pre-paid card...I actually have one but my mom would figure it out if I used it. I'll try and save up money for a cheap pre-paid. And I do have a debit card but I'm only a high school senior. (Not out of the house yet..) Maybe I can ask one of my friends to receive the package for me..I have one friend who actually received my binder for me and told her mom it was a present I had for my mom and didn't want her to see. In the meantime I'll try to figure out where I can send a mail order...(I'm kind of on a tight leash as yu can probably guess..) So thanks guys, I really appreciate it. =]

I've been using a stomach binder and leg binder (you can get them for 10-20 bucks at wal-mart). They're velcro and work for the most part, although I have to buy new ones every few months. Angie used it a few years ago for cosplaying a boy, and so when I started needing to bind, I found it works really well. It took her from a C cup to a almost completely flat chest.

And if anyone finds it, you can just say you wear it when you exercise to trim your stomach or legs! Sweat off those pounds!

(And btw, welcome :D)

i think if you save up some cash. then get a pre paid card that you can use for online purchases. sorta like a gift card or credit card but you can use it anywhere and anytime for anything. i think that might work. if it doesnt then eh. but yeah.

For safety's sake:

You also shouldn't be binding for weeks straight. It sucks royally, I know, but you need to give your lungs a break. I usually try not to bind for more than 10-12 hours top (I work odd hours and sometimes have to bind for longer). Make sure that once you take off whatever you're using to bind you cough a few times to loosen up your lungs.

-End Safety Lecture-

I'd go with a back brace. Wear an tight fitting A shirt or undershirt underneath so that the binder doesn't get disgusting and then another undershirt over that so that the binder is less visible in profile. Then wear your regular shirt over that. It can be a little warm, but it works pretty well and doesn't cost that much money.

Good luck with the situation with your mom -- that sounds tough.

I bought a Prepaid walmart Visa gift card and got my 1st binder, it will work with underworks but not out of the country. You'll have to register it on the walmart gift site to use it but that'll work

If that happens, a lot of things I don't want to see might also be codified into law.  And some things that shouldn't be law might not get repealed.  To me, progress in one area isn't worth the price we'd have to pay in several other areas.     For me, voting on LGBTQ issues always ends up as an "out of the frying pan, but into the fire" sort of event.

Trying out a new wig. Got my reading glasses on. I've also got dark roots now - first time in years.

Thea, your post made me think of a comic named Chloe Petts whom I saw recently on Hannah Gadsby's Gender Agenda comedy special on Netflix. She is a cisgender masculine lesbian. She is brilliant and so funny. I was intrigued by her identification - specifically masculine, not butch. And it seems to me there is a difference.

Today I had a dr appt. When I checked in, I was asked my surname, which I gave. Apparently there were two patients with appointments at that time with that same surname. The receptionist asked, "Are you (my legal name which is feminine) or Paul?" I got such a kick out of it not being assumed I had the feminine name.

That must have felt affirming, albeit perhaps weirdly so. However, I'd construe that more broadly (no pun intended) as sexism rather than misogyny where the latter would imply contempt. Also, incidentally, I've heard chivalry referred to as "benevolent sexism".

My boss is in a panic. His business is a couple straws away from breaking a camel in half. He's just handling the stress very poorly.   My dad, though. He's handling things pretty well, as long as I continue to don't get massively offended by being called: son, boy, etc. His eldest is leaving the State and looks so different than he's been used to over the years. I haven't told him I'm on HRT, but to be fair the changes haven't been massive. I've always had boobs, more so after COVID weight gain and made more obvious with its loss, but now I'm not hiding them--and obviously wearing a bra. The estrogen has done some work, but nothing major (sadly). I think the biggest HRT changes have been my skin and a mild amount of fat redistribution.   Today I'm wearing my cheater, I almost have cleavage! :D I need to get another t-shirt bra to keep a good rotation. I only have two, one push-up, and the rest are unlined (great for Summer, but not great for my Summer wardrobe ).

I eat a ketogenic diet and have had no problems. I don't know about your case but I suspect it is the estrogen. Research the types of ways to take estrogen. Pay close attention to the bloodwork results. If they are not satisfactory, bring it up with your doctor. I take injectables, which are fully covered by insurance. It may not be the route for you, but something to consider. I emphasize to do your research and good luck. You can solve this. Be persistent.    Jennifer

I'm in a magenta blouse under a baby blue buttoned cardigan - still a little cool here in the northeast today - with dark blue jeans. Oh, and my favorite flame colored copper feather earrings.

White crop top and capri jeans ;) Finaly tricked the face id on my phone, "that's not you" lol.

This is my opinion, so take it for that. Fatigue is based more on what you eat. Eat a more healthy diet, and stay away from ultra-processed foods and that should help. Think of eating the way we did a couple hundred years ago before the industrial revolution. It's just a thought.   Jennifer

Welcome back, Jennifer! As a relative newbie to the forum and to transition, I look forward to getting to know you and share in your experiences.

I like the fact that you found support and have close members of your life. That is very important. No matter where you are on your journey, you have to have the support. Or you drift, and you question yourself.    Looking forward to your progress,   Jennifer
