pantyhose, stockings and lacy underthings

Have you ever noticed you never know that your fingernails are smooth until you put on some hose or lacy underthings? I filed my nails the other day they felt smooth but, as soon as I was pulling on my pantyhose, brand new pair, and a fingernail snagged them and put a big run in them. Nithing brings a girl down more then getting a run in new pantyhose.

I buy my panty hose in bulk packs so I at least have extras. There is no harm in having an odd number of nylon goods though. I use thigh highs or knee highs mostly these days.

Hi Rachel,

Yep! Nylons are the first sign that the fingernails need more attention. It's probably just as well - I'd rather snag my nylons than a dress.

As a sequel, I've been noticing that my bras have fitted like crap lately. I'm growing out of my cups so to speak and developing a prettty good size gap from my chest wall. I've been a happy C cup. but alas no more. 4 bras at $42.00 each definitely puts a dent in your bank account. At least I can fudge awhile with a couple of T-Shirt bras. But for supportive bras, it doesn't pay to buy cheap. Good bras cost and they last if you hand wash them gently.

I listened well to my mom back when I was growing up and working in her dress store. A well fitting bra feels like a dream whereas a poor fitting one is a nightmare.

I too prefer thigh highs, knee highs or trouser socks. I thought I would change it up and put on some pantyhose and got a fingernail run in them.

When I started buying my clothes, ok when my wife started buying for me, she would buy me the cheap panties and bras. Now that I have good breastforms the more expensive bras do fit and feel better, no digging in your sides or your shoulders. A good fitting sports bra feels good too.

Hugs to all,

Rachel

I rarely wear stockings anymore but do have some around if needed. Now when it's cold i always wear socks, knee or thigh high socks. I love them in colors and they are warm!!! As summer comes socks find their way back into the drawer and my lys are bare and i just wear real short socks if i'm working.

My nails seem able to catch on things none the less as i seem to beat them up on the farm.

Hugs,

Charlize

I love wearing tights. They have been an essential part of my dressing since I was 12. It is really frustrating when tights are snagged. I always aim to put on my tights as instructed on the packet, but sometimes in my eagerness to be Belinda again I sometimes end up laddering or snagging a pair of tights. A couple of years ago I bought some really expensive tights in a summer sale in the House of Fraser store. One such pair was from the Walford range and I ruined them as soon as I put them on. I tend to look at the state of my nails when I put my tights on because even if they are tiny bit long it can cause snags.

A couple of months back I was very annoyed. I bought a really lovely pair of nearly black tights which looked lovely on me. On a whim I decided to go to my wardrobe and change my outfit. On the way to the wardrobe I stumbled and caught the heel of my shoe on the tights and ruined them. Luckily the tights were from Peacocks and only cost about two pounds so no problem in replenishing them.

I love the barely black tights from M&S they look fab but a couple of times I have snagged them when putting on a new pair.

Thanks for this thread I am a girl who adores tights it is my favourite cd'ing subject.

Rough fingers and nails. Argh, don't I know! I love my hold-up 60 denier stockings that double up as socks when under-dressed, which is most days. But smoothing them out and hanging them up to dry, my fingers seem as rough as anything despite buckets of hand cream, carefully filed nails etc. I've snagged so many it is incredibly frustrating.

So I have a box of very cheap plastic household protective gloves handy for jobs around the house. I wear these to protect the stockings as I smooth and hang them up and they work very well for that. Because I use the gloves for a very short time for very clean work, I simply pop the used pair back in the box and therefore the box lasts for ages!

If you are worried about handling stockings and tights, these are well worth a try!

It is only when you try it yourself that you realise why it is so common for women to be seen wearing less than perfect tights! Something I hate. I do not even like to be out in less than perfect tights even when wearing under other clothing.

It has just reminded me of an old remedy to stop a run in laddered tights / stockings - nail varnish. I wonder if anyone ever uses that method anymore? Perhaps from the old days of far more expensive stockings, or maybe they do not fail in the same way. I was too young to really know then, just know it was done.

If you have a run in them, the clear nail polish works great! Put a paper towel tube in the pantyhose / tights, where the run is, put the polish on and let it dry - it will save the annoyance of the pantyhose / tights sticking to your skin. :)

In the rare (and I mean RARE) occasion that I wear pantyhose or tights, I crunch them together one leg at a time, put them on my foot and then use my fingertips to pull them up my legs. It definitely helps in avoiding snagging them with a nail.

I am just glad that we crossdressing girls are still flying the flag for tights/pantyhose. I am 54 but when I am dressed as Belinda on a Friday night I am mindful of the fact that many genetic Women of my age do not wear tights. Luckily my wife who is four years younger than me wears tights regularly. I have come out to her on two occasions she is not a hundred per cent comfortable with my crossdressing but I think she turns a blind eye. However she has no idea that I have a wardrobe full and one chest of drawers full of tights, between the two of us we must have more tights than the average hosiery counter. To my wife wearing tights are a chore but if were a gg I would wear them every day.

Many many many many years ago, the first pair of stockings I wore and inevitably run were my mother's, but she never found the culprit and never thought about me, I looked so innocent......

But please, don't use cyanolit or similar glues (very appreciated by the male modellers) to cure the mishap, because the tissue becomes part of your skin.

P.S.: I adore stay-ups, possibly lace rimmed and noted that higher the price, higher (usually) the quality, less runs you have.

Georgia to all my enbraceable girls and ladies.

Without doubt my favourite kind of leg wear is the silicone-topped hold-up stocking. I love the 60-70 denier black or coloured stockings, preferably with lace at the tops but not a must-have. During the cooler months I do not wear socks, I wear hold-ups. Being fairly thick and black (grey or whatever colour) they look like socks when in male dress and so I wear them under trousers most days. As for wearing them with skirts - hmmm, fantastic. I've tried the traditional suspenders and stockings but while they are fun and sexy, getting ready for work in the morning means choosing hold-ups. They'll go straight on in seconds. And even better, when I get back home and hurl off my work trousers, I pull on a skirt and my stockings are already on, and ready to go with it!

I wear tights a great deal, too. But they self-destruct quite quickly whereas my hold-up stockings seem to go for ever, wash after wash. I buy my stockings via E-Bay UK, from a very helpful supplier who are fast and reputable.

One thing with hold-ups is I always use a dollop of disinfectant in the wash, which stops the silicone bands causing irritation on the skin.

Oh, and I have my favourite knickers - lacy panels and all colours. And the amazing thing is they are SO much more comfortable than the old male under-pants I used to wear. I underdress virtually every day and adore it.

Views, terminology, and aspects of how events came to be....aren't those directly related to the news item?  If not, I'm rather confused.

Second warning, this has gotten far and apart from the NEWS item that it started out with and is becoming a flat out battleground over political leanings and terminology.

Welcome to Lefty Land.... a festive theme park full of sparkles and unicorns, a perfect place except for one evil orange dragon wearing a blond wig.    I'm always amazed at the "flexibility" of definitions.  One person's f@scist seems like a centrist to others.  One person's "moderate" looks to others like the 2nd coming of Fidel Castro.  A normal marriage a century or two ago is now a criminal offense, and relationships that used to be a criminal offense are now open, normal marriages.  Pedophiles now want to be called "minor attracted persons" and teenagers are now defined as children.  A Republican in NY or CA would be a Democrat just about anywhere else.  I'm certainly no advocate for relativism, these are just observations.    What I find interesting about this Australian candidate is the attitude that he shouldn't be allowed to run for office.  Why?  Just because his views are different, or even offensive?  Who makes that determination?  Can an election really be open and fair if it is barred to candidates who are not "politically correct?"  Here in the USA, we can openly have candidates who are f@scist or any other thing they want to be, no real restrictions aside from eligibility requirements related to age, location, citizenship, and criminal record.

@Birdie You certainly have more patience than I do.  I don't take it well if I get scolded.  Either I sulk or I get nippish.    We had a good Mother's Day here yesterday.  Quite an event, since 4 of my partners are mothers.  GF enjoys it a lot, because she's very (excessively?) proud of having produced her 5 kids.  Her eldest starts school this fall.  Amazing how time flies...

Reminds me of elementary school when a kid yanked my chair as I was taking a seat. I told him to "go suck an egg" and we both got sent to the principals office. I was like, "tf did I do to deserve that?"

Firstly, it's nice to hear that your other half is now open to you living as you are!   Secondly, things I have noticed, having started shots just before the New Year: Tears do come much more easily I am far more tender with my wife and I like to snuggle more I have noticed anxiety has an increased effect on me I am on a weekly injection, so when I get near my next shot I have noticed feeling a little emotionally "blah" After shots I am much more energetic and bubbly Otherwise, I wouldn't say I've been on any kind of roller coaster of emotion and I'm far from unstable. So take heart and congratulations!

Three reprimands in a certain time frame? It seems like they should drop off the calendar after a period of time. How long can they hold a reprimand on the calendar?   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Congratulations on getting the go ahead with HRT. I'm so ready for my wife to drop her opposition. As for the mood swings... I would look forward to them myself.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Three reprimands and they suspend attendance for a couple weeks.

Good for the other participant. What's involved in a reprimand? At our age, what are they going to do? Withhold snacks...   @BirdieI'm sorry you have to put up with such discrimination's. I'm proud that you're standing up for yourself.    Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
