Hey Ladies,

Well i'm back again after a long time of being away. but not a lot has changed. I found a HRT specialist in Madison and am currently working with him to get on hrt. Though I've come up with a small list of questions that have been coming up over the past couple months. Would appreciate everyone's input.

1) what is the best way to wash shirts, and pants so they don't shrink or shrink very little?

2) What's the best way to wash bras, socks and panties?

3) what are good stores to shop at for clothes other than Walmart?

4) Where are good places to shop for shoes?

5) Are there good places to shop for specific items like Swimwear and Loungewear?

Anyone that feels like answering some of these your input is always greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Stacy

best way to wash bras and panties is in a lingerie bag, and thrift stores are really great places to find clothes, sometimes you even find brand new pieces of clothing for like 90% off their original price!! I love shopping at thrift stores! Sometimes you can find shoes that fit at thrift stores as well, but not often (keep in mind that women's shoe sizes are not standardized, so there could be a number of sizes that fit you, depending on the brand, you just have to try them on) But shoe stores and online are the easiest places to get shoes. Swimwear i would go to a clothing store, or boutique (sometimes boutiques carry them) I dont know much about not shrinking shirts, but washing them in cold water shouldnt shrink them, and either air dry them, or put them in the dryer at a very low heat setting. Hope i helped!

Hi Stacy, welcome back Here goes--

1) what is the best way to wash shirts, and pants so they don't shrink or shrink very little?

Use cool or cold water for the wash, and cold rinse. Dry on normal settings or wash & wear setting.

2) What's the best way to wash bras, socks and panties?

Wash Less expensive bras panties and sox as above in the washer, use regular dryer setings-- do your expensive or really fragile stuff by hand, dry on a towel

3) what are good stores to shop at for clothes other than Walmart?

Lane Bryant and Dress Barn are my favorites followed by Dillard's if new is your thing. Thrift stores are great too.

4) Where are good places to shop for shoes?

Payless shoes has larger sizes on their web site, and also in ethnic communities where women do have larger feet such as African American and Pacific Islander women..

5) Are there good places to shop for specific items like Swimwear and Loungewear?

Same answer as number 3, especially Lane Bryant where I bought a new swim suit last week.

Socks i never worry about they just go with the regular laundry. i remove my stockings and bra's from the wash before they reach the dryer. The elastic doesn't do well with high temperature.

If you know your size and it isn't + but fits in the 'normal' range you can shop almost anywhere. I love thrift stores but increasingly as i'm lazy get my clothes on line on e-bay or from Lands End or other decent stores. They are all on line now. Spending a day at the shops can be wonderful just watch the budget. It is too easy to spend a lot on an outfit you may only wear once. I am finding that i don't need party dresses but very everyday decent wear.

Large good, comfortable shoes can be hard. I love Merrill's but do have some heels for special occasions.

The biggest clue is to enjoy yourself.

Hugs,

Charlize

Hey Ladies,

I have a question..

I'm wondering if I should get a wig or not..

Why do i ask.. because my hair was thinning out pretty much, but now it's starting to grow itself back in so it seems. So should i get a wig to make up for the difference in hair length or do I wait to see how much hair wants to grow back in?

Because it seems to be filling itself back in over the course of a long period of time..

Hi Stacy,

Hair comes and goes on cycles, so it may be in a growth spurt right now. I've found that eating a good diet, rich in protein, is really good for retaining hair. Of course, HRT will help you keep what you have.

I went full time before my hair was really ready. It was in the barely passable range, and I had a stylist who did wonders with what little I had. But, up to that point, I was wearing wigs. I purchased them on line, the couple that I bought were synthetics, in the $50 range. Of course there are more expensive ones, human hair wigs can be very expensive. But, for a temporary solution, probably stay with the inexpensive ones.

Best of luck!

Love, Megan

I know this may seem impossible... But I'm actually regrowing hair... How do I know this. This may be the impossible part. I've actually seen 2 follicles coming out of my head where I kinda figured they would be. On another note I'm losing more weight. How much I'm not so sure. but all I've done is change the way I eat and how much I eat. I've lost a pretty substantial amount of weight just by doing that. Over time of course..Not all at once. Just thought a nice update would be nice..

Society is preserved by passing on proper roles for people, which works for the 90+ percent that it works for.   We were all taught from an early age that breaking out of the classification was a shameful thing, even when, actually, it is not.

I'm probably showing my age.  I haven't looked at a guest count in a long time.  Doing FB and staying off forums for a while.  Previous forum use had fewer bots if any and guests were actual people, mostly, unlike today.    Any AIs or bots struggling with GD are welcome.  I would love to read your introduction.

I've seen this on a lot of forums tbh. That's how a lot of content ends up on internet archives. You've got loads of bots scanning the site at all times and archiving it. Forums are actually nice (in comparison to social media) in that the guest count gives you a pretty good idea of how actively the site's content is being archived. Basically just don't post anything you don't want archived.

Kids are resiliant with therapy and strong support ;-)    They were all elementary age when their dad died and are teens now, and how they've grown and developed as young people, already, takes my breath away.   I'm working on communicating changes clearly and without shame, which is difficult basically all the time because of feeling guilty over doing gender "wrong" for so long. Working on that myself! <3

Allow me to add that people should think twice about posting pictures of themselves, with the facial recognition software that is out there.  Those in stealth or who are not fully out may discover they are suddenly and unwillingly fully out in ways they wish had not happened.

Funny how when i read the topic name i thought you were asking about the study of plants and animals.  I'm a bit into that as a farmer at va time when a cell phone makes plant  for insect identification easier than it has ever been.    Now on to your topic.  I don't farm in the nude.  I have wondered at whether i would skinny dip as i did as a kid without thought of how my body might affect others.  The effects of hormones makes me different from the average person and perhaps i'm "neither fish nor fowl".  I would certainly depend on who my fellow passengers on that cruise would be.   Hugs,   Charlize

This is also a relatively small forum and it can take a long time, seemingly, for someone to get around to replying to a post.

I am also pretty sure that several of them are folks who are "trans curious".  Sometimes folks who are trying to find their own identity, are attracted to trans folks or who are simply interested in the trans community.   There may also be some who wish to do us harm which is why ......... I've just learned to smile figuring "i'm on candid camera".   I'm sure many of our younger members never experienced that show so my age is showing.   Hugs,   Charlize

Most of those "guests" are web bots from China, Indonesia, France etc. looking us over. They are mostly benign.  All they can see or gain access to are the general forums.  Members should be careful not to post anything that could readily identify themselves such as real names, addresses, phone numbers, etc. They do not have access to our gallery, blogs or private messenger. They seem to haunt all forums. Not just us. I should add that they can make us known across the internet. That's how prospective members find us. Google would be a good example.

I hope he gets what he deserves.

Heck I didn't even know they could go up that high! I just have a four burner and one to keep stuff warm. What kind of pies did you make?

I'm sure you'd rock it, girl!

That's all the matters.   Well me and the wife rode to Perkins for breakfast. As we were waiting for our food. Being it is Sunday There are a few gentleman in suits, my guess from church. I think to myself. I hope I never have to wear one of those monkey suits ever again. Now a nice dress maybe.   Hugs,   Kymmie

From time to time I've looked at 'Who Is Online" and I have consistently noticed that members are ALWAYS outnumbered by Guests by a wide margin, sometimes, like a minute ago, by more than a 10:1 margin.  I have never seen that before on an internet forum.  It can be explained partly by the nature of what this is, that it draws the curious and they are certainly welcome to read here, and to join, but it leaves me with a feeling of being in a fishbowl.  I wonder who ARE these people?  Donald Trump, is that you? Biden? Sinwar? Putin?  We can only guess.
