a bit confused

Hey Ladies,

So I was at Wal-Mart a bit ago buying some Summer clothes as I have none. I found a couple pairs of shorts that i liked one was as size 10 the other a size 12. I tried both on and found the 12's fit a bit more comfortable than the 10's as the 10's where a bit on the tight side. Now the 12's fit nice, but I can pretty much put them on and take them off with little to no effort. So in a situation like this, would you get the 10's and the 12's or the 12's but get the 10's later when they aren't so tight? Just something I've been wondering so if anyone can offer assistance with answering a tricky question that comes up when i go cloths shopping. I'd greatly appreciate it.

By the way, Happy Memorial Day ladies,

Stacy

From my years in that world I found it is a common thing for women to want to buy that next size down for when they fit- and many end up with a closet filled with stuff they have never worn. Because it either didn't look the same or wasn't really as cute as you remembered or you didn't quite make that size or it just didn't fit right no matter what size you got to be. Sometimes you quickly slide right by a size when losing weight and just never wear it.

But it is an individual emotional decision in the end. Will it make you feel better to have it in your closet waiting or worse if it never gets worn? If expense is a concern or building a summer wardrobe I'd say go with what works now. You can enjoy it and not worry about how fast summer is going or when it will fit right. Just my take & the bulging closets of unworn clothes many women have show I'm probably not looking at it the way many women do

I would tend to the 12's. That is what i normally wear. Our waists are usually bigger than a cis woman and our bottoms smaller. Something comfy around the waist will seem big in the backside. I tend to go for comfy and a lot less for style. if your loosing weight however maybe smaller is better. Best to try things on and make sure you won't split it when you bend over.

Here's another quick question.. Say you feel a lot younger than you currently are.. How does one work feeling young at heart all the time, into an older woman's wardrobe?

Case in point. I love juniors stuff. Tends to fit better on me. But I'm almost 30. Is it ok to by juniors clothes or not?

If it fits and you like it why not? Junior doesn't mean young as much as it means small sized. Ie. not as large in certain womanly areas. Older cis women can ale fall into that area depending on build.

Hi Stacy

It would be very embarrassing to have the shorts split on you if too small :D !

I tend to buy things to sit correctly on my hips as far as possible. In the early days I confused skirt and dress sizes. If I bought a skirt to dress size (one size larger) then the skirt would slip right over my minimal hips lol.

There is no easy answer to your question without further information as it depends a little on the style and material of the shorts. stretchy material has more give so if more like Hot Pants then the smaller size may be better. If the shorts are looser fitting anyway the larger size may be OK especially if a suitable belt is added.

Another possibility is - does another outlet have similar shorts. You may find the fit slightly different and if you are lucky - somewhere inbetween!

And to the second question - I probably do look silly some of the time lol but when out as androgyne (although I am a little more conservative when fully female) I wear juniors stuff all the time (skinny jeans especially), and I'm a lot more than 30. Some of my best fitting clothes are from that section. I think as I (we in general?) do not have a female body typically expanded with age the junior or younger women's clothes may well fit better. One exception I have found is with tights. The supermarket product seems to fit better than boutique items which are generally intended for the younger woman.

Tracy_J,

Right now I have pretty much have to rely on Wal-Mart for clothes. And they have very limited brands. I don't have my own car right now nor do I have the means to get to a larger city with a mall. Though the nearest malls are between 20-40 miles away from me respectively. So going to a different store would be a much nicer thing to do but I don't have the means to do so right now.

As for Juniors, they do seem to fit better than most Women's styles. Plus I may be able to find my size better in Juniors than I will be able to in Women's once I finally start HRT. Which hopefully will be very soon. But yes, I tend to like the fabrics that juniors provides better than i do with Women's. Plus the styles are always more to what i'm looking for. But yeah. Almost 30 and pretty well able to pull off Juniors clothes very easily. I mean I see no issue with it, but there are those that will complain.

I'll keep everyone up to date with what i do with my overall style.

It was always my impression that the real difference in women's and juniors was fit. The juniors are more stylish sometimes true because some are made with teen build in mind but not all. I've known women from teens to 80s who wore juniors.

Besides I don't see much being too young for nearly 30 anymore. You have a decade or two before you worry about that. Just go with the style you like and that makes you feel right for who you are and how you want to present yourself. Feeling happy with yourself makes you attractive

Much can depend on the cut of article. A size 12 in one brand may fit different from size 12 of another brand. I've had to go a size or two larger because of the cut. When I lost weight, I had to buy skirts smaller in the waist.

I had that going on with my last two partners who were 20 years older than me.  One of them looked older for her age as well.  I remember a couple times being in the grocery store a decade ago and having people ask "can I help you ladies with something?" and then I'd turn around with my red beard.  Well before I started transitioning, but my partner knew I was trans back then.   I struggle with this as well.  My music and political career can have a masculine edge to it that I don't like.  It's been really frustrating lately.  I don't like pushing myself on others or telling people what to do.  I've been running a website for 25 years and have virtually never tried to promote it or even look at any analytics.  I don't want to push it on anyone.  I put what I have on it and make it publicly available.  It's part of my production process.  It keeps me sane and if someone else can find it useful, then I'm happy to share.

I'm curious, but then if I am true to myself, I have a hard time being in crowds.  I love hearing great music, but being in an audience is such a turnoff for me that I don't go to concerts or bars.  I'm just very much a producer.  I actually like doing the dishes more than going to concerts because it's an active thing.

My therapist is trying a new tact. I've named my self protection self that ssays not eating or too much exercise because when I starting because oftrauma my protective self started and also at the time the name Shay came to me and is now part of my name.  It's not like having a split personality, just my primative self protection who is always there to help me. My therapist has Shay, me and him working as a team to assure her that I am safe and to start changing her role in my life so I protect me by eating right and exercising to maintain a heathy body. It is helping a little but we just started this a few weeks ago.

Good morning, everyone!!   Yesterday was lawn mower battery day. I've been nursing the battery on my Zero Turn mower for two weeks. It gave up the ghost when I stopped to refuel yesterday so I had to run over to the local shop to get a new one. And forgot my wallet so I had to drive home and back again.   Then, I was using the garden tractor with the bagger to pick up the clippings. I cut about 7 acres so it took me awhile. When I was done, I went to refuel it and, of course, it wouldn't start when I'd finished putting in the gas. I'm hoping it was just some corrosion on the cables - cleaned them up, gave it a quick charge and it started right up. We'll see if it will hold a charge now or turn out like the Zero Turn.   House cleaning day today. And then I'm going to just relax outside for a bit and enjoy one more warm day before our temps drop and rain comes in for the weekend.   Enjoy this beautiful day we've been given!!

I attend a medical day-centre in Texas for needed medical services. It's religious oriented, so not gender fluid friendly. I of course dress 100% in female attire yet androgynous to keep both "them happy", and I really don't mind.    I of course am imposed rules that no other participant is bound by. The examples are the allowed size of my backpack, or how many visits per day I can see my Representative payee.  The gender neutral restroom use was a compromise that all off us have agreed to.  Not being able to wear tanks tops or shorts that aren't "Bermuda length" are other examples of where I am restricted more than any other participant. "Bra talk" is strictly forbidden, even though their doctor and occupational therapist were the ones that told me I needed support due to neck pain.    I found myself being reprimanded by staff three times yesterday for very petty details, and they have constantly pushed for me to remove myself from the program voluntarily. I am of course someone not welcomed in the program, but federal discrimination laws prevent them from removing me. They instead are just making life miserable with the hopes that I will leave on my own.
