tell us about why you chose yours

any special meaning?

mine is me (Naomi Stardust) + a Neruda quote

the whole quote (which all didn't fit) is:

There is no insurmountable solitude. All paths lead to the same goal: to convey to others what we are. And we must pass through solitude and difficulty, isolation and silence in order to reach forth to the enchanted place where we can dance our clumsy dance and sing our sorrowful song -- but in this dance or in this song there are fulfilled the most ancient rites of our conscience in the awareness of being human and of believing in a common destiny.

-- Pablo Neruda from "Towards the Splendid City" his 1971 Nobel Prize speech

'there is no insurmountable solitude' that part is there for me, i need to be reminded of that now and then

'all paths lead to the same goal: to convey to others what we are' well being transsexual i think that one is obvious

'the enchanted place where we can dance our clumsy dance and sing our sorrowful song' the place where we can be ourselves without shame or fear, this is a state of mind

this quote is special to me because a very dear friend introduced it to me

she had a harder life than most of us can imagine

she was suicidal for a very long time

but she got through it

partly thanks to reading Neruda

these lines remind me of her, and remind me that it is possible to get through the darkness and depression, the anxiety and fear

that someday it will be me clumsily dancing and singing off key

and i won't mind

Good Topic, Naomi!

Mine came to me one day while writing an answer to a question that I thought I could help the troubled person.

She was trying to deal with her past as a male and her future as a woman and was frightened and afraid of what might happen.

So I wrote it to her in answer to her question and it became my signature.

Look forward with anticipation and never fear, look back with fondness and never regret.

It's meaning is pretty clear, we should not fear the future for it's hidden dangers but embrace it for it' possible treasures and to remember the good things from our past lives and not carry the extra burdens of the bad.

I am adding a second line from a favorite movie of mine, "They Might Be Giants" where the main character explains the actions of the hero from a favorite story of mine because of the novel itself, the musical it inspired and in particular the song "The Impossible Dream"!

In "Don Quixote", fully titled "El ingenioso hidalgo Don Quijote de la Mancha", written by Spanish author Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra our hero sees himself as a knight protecting the country from evil in all forms and he tilts with windmills, everyone laughs and calls him crazy.

In the movie "They Might Be Giants", a man who thinks that he is Sherlock Holmes is talking to his Psychiatrist who is Dr. Mildred Watson and when she says that it is as crazy as Don Quixote tilting with windmills he replies, "Tilting with windmills because you believe that they are giants is crazy, but tilting with them because they might be giants is a noble quest."

I have always remembered that and it applies so well to us her, to transition to most people is a choice and a crazy one, but to us it is not a choice it is an imperative and finding and becoming one's true self is a noble quest!

Because they might be giants

I was in one of those silver jewelry specialty stores in our Mall, I believe they are from California, and saw a bracelet that said, "Live the life you love." I had to buy it as it was so much what I was just trying to do. Someone who I didn't even know later, next to me in a check-out line i think, saw it on my wrist and asked to see it. I was presenting androgyne by default I guess that day. She looked at it and read it outloud, then she looked at me an smiled and added,"Love the life you live."

Later I posted it in my signature, adding the last part about a gentle life, after I gave that very advice to someone in a post reply.

The signature is always subject to change, I guess, but I haven't found anthing better to say that what I have already.

I always remember the song from "Chicago" when I see Lizzy's signature.

"You can love the life you live.

you can live the life you like.

you can even marry harry

and fool around with Ike!"

Not what you had in mind?

Sorry, I have a friend that uses this one,

"Work like you don't need the money,

dance like no one is watching

love like you'vev never been hurt

and always be happy."

Do you like that one?

Love ya,

My sig is......

I generally avoid temptation unless I can't resist it....

Most here won't know her, but this a quote from one of my all time favorite ladies....Mae West.

She was an actress in the 20's and 30's.....

Known for her bawdy double entendres, she could be naughty and make you think it was YOU getting it wrong....

She was the one to originally say...."Is that a pistol in your pocket or are you just glad to see me?"

And of course...."When I'm good, I'm very good. When I'm bad, I'm better"

AHhhhh...I just love her!

And of course the scandal.... to make her all the more interesting......

A rumor was about that she was actually a man in drag...She had a deep sultry voice!

She passed in 1980 and all questions were cleared up.....

Yep, what a grand LADY!

"I dare do all that may become a man; Who dares do more is none."

-Macbeth

It's something I go by. I will work hard to be the man I want to be but I know my limits. I wont be a fool and go past them or fool myself into even thinking I can.

"Always look on the bright side of life."

-Monty Pythons

Sometimes it's hard for me to look on the bright side but I try my best and I try my best to help others do the same.

Well I guess my sig is one that can just explain itself.

"I love you all, and I want to say, as usual, that Laura's Playground pulled me out of the pit of despair I was in, and has helped me to continue to find my way along the path. Much love and gratitude to Laura and everyone else who participates in making this a safe haven by giving of their time and love and support and understanding! --Michelle"

(Placed inline so if I ever change my sig this message is left for posterity...)

Love you all!

"You come between just who you are and who you wanna be."

-- Bon Jovi (Welcome to Wherever You Are)

I love this song, and kinda relate it to where I am right now. Cause right now I'm sorta stuck in the middle of who my body says I am, and who my hearts says I am. It's a good song. ^^

If we make a choice

Be the voice

For those who won't speak up for themselves

How many lives would be saved?

Changed? Rearranged?

-- Superchick (Hero - Red Pill Mix)

I try to live my life by this song. Because when everyone always picked on me and no one EVER helped me. No one ever stopped them, even when the people who used to be my best friends beat me up in front of a neighbor's house. I decided that if I ever see anyone getting harassed I have to stop it to try and help others from feeling the same pain I felt. Thus when I'm around my friends they stop being jerkfaces, and don't use "gay" as an insult. XD

I also wanna be a shrink so I can help people the same way. ^^

Well my signatures come from various places

the first one is from a button I was given by a friend while I was in rehab (I collect bttons and pins) and just has always seemed to fit me, especially now

The second is from the second Scooby-Doo movie and when I heard it (I have the movie) and loved it

The next two I just recently added and are from my heritage (Irish/Scottish/Cherokee). My grandfather said the blessing at times and my mom has prayer in her kitchen. I try to live both of those during my life

Oh not another Scottish girl....

lol anyway, "The Holy Grail doesn't seem so holy anymore" -- pretty simple, related to what I'm struggling with. My "Holy Grail" has pretty much become to be physically male, especially for sexual reasons. Doesn't seem very "holy" to be thinking about sex all the time

I know, really deep and insightful after all that poetry...ah what can I do...lol.

The Topic has had time to have legit responses, so let me get to this? Do you have Ike's phone number?

Seriously, I am reminded of "you can love the one you are with, or you can can be with the one you love." My choice is of course the last.

Or the last lyric of the last Beatles song on the last album:

"In the end the love you take is equal to the love you make"

Your suggestion?

I DO like that last part, especially "...and always be happy" I'm stealing it! HA

I don't have one.. or an avatar.

My reasons.. I don't have anything which I feel the need to tag every post I make.

I use them on other sites. I don't see them as relevant to my input here.

Well my siganture came to me as I was typing it.....Hard to believe because I am not a poet nor a creative person,,much nor left brained..if i do say so the signature is from another source my muse typed it and if I do say so it is at once elegant and yet succinct......

..............NOTHING IS......... AND NO ONE IS........ AS THEY APPEAR TO BE...........WE ARE ALL A MYSTERY.................Really the power of Laura's Playground............... :D

I really like mine! Although thats a bit egotistic considering I was the one who said it in the first place... oh well! :P

"Do not pity me, for what I do is the cause of my own devices."

I was txting a friend of mine on some issues that I was having at the time and he txted me back saying he was sorry for me and wished he could help. I txted back the above statement.

I think I may have heard or read it somewhere else though... I don't really have that great of a memory.

I don't enjoy it when people feel sorry for me in any way shape or form. the rest of the quote (which I didn't put on my sig for some strange reason) is "Pity those who have nothing else in this world."

I have friends who love and accept me for who I am.

I have this amazing group around me (hugs everyone reading!) who feels the same.

Don't pity the person with it all... pity those with nothing.

I tend to get a little bit serious when I pretend to be a philosopher. :P

lol mia talk about lacking creativity....

that's why I normally don't do signatures or any of that..simply because i can't think of a good one. the harder i try in situations that involve creativity, the worse off i am. i come up with creative stuff at random, like while i'm going to bed or something...lol.

Otherwise I'll just use some line from a song lyric I really like :D

"I will shine through shadow, and pull back the curtain of twilight.

By love, and by faith, I swear to start living beyond what, before,

could only be described as many years of sleep."

My signature is really what I need to do in my life.

"I will shine through shadow" is overcoming fear.

"Pull back the curtain of twilight" is to stop living in the fantasy I have lived.

"By love, and by faith" means I will live with the help of my loved ones, and by God.

"I swear to start living beyond what, before, could only be described as many years of sleep". I'm trying my utmost to stop living in my illusionary life, and to start living as myself. I've lived 13 of my nearly 16 years denying myself... not allowing myself to see what's in my heart, and now I have to move forward.

I rather like it... Every time I read it, I feel good... and realize, again, if I'd forgotten, what I have to do.

I'm curious, but then if I am true to myself, I have a hard time being in crowds.  I love hearing great music, but being in an audience is such a turnoff for me that I don't go to concerts or bars.  I'm just very much a producer.  I actually like doing the dishes more than going to concerts because it's an active thing.

My therapist is trying a new tact. I've named my self protection self that ssays not eating or too much exercise because when I starting because oftrauma my protective self started and also at the time the name Shay came to me and is now part of my name.  It's not like having a split personality, just my primative self protection who is always there to help me. My therapist has Shay, me and him working as a team to assure her that I am safe and to start changing her role in my life so I protect me by eating right and exercising to maintain a heathy body. It is helping a little but we just started this a few weeks ago.

Good morning, everyone!!   Yesterday was lawn mower battery day. I've been nursing the battery on my Zero Turn mower for two weeks. It gave up the ghost when I stopped to refuel yesterday so I had to run over to the local shop to get a new one. And forgot my wallet so I had to drive home and back again.   Then, I was using the garden tractor with the bagger to pick up the clippings. I cut about 7 acres so it took me awhile. When I was done, I went to refuel it and, of course, it wouldn't start when I'd finished putting in the gas. I'm hoping it was just some corrosion on the cables - cleaned them up, gave it a quick charge and it started right up. We'll see if it will hold a charge now or turn out like the Zero Turn.   House cleaning day today. And then I'm going to just relax outside for a bit and enjoy one more warm day before our temps drop and rain comes in for the weekend.   Enjoy this beautiful day we've been given!!

Striking your head against the wall, you can lose 150 calories an hour. Blue color attracts mosquitoes in two times more than any other. Most toilet paper sold for home use in France is pink. In 2014, a missing woman on a vacation in Iceland was found when it was discovered that she was in the search party looking for herself. In 2005, Mark Zuckerberg unsuccessfully tried to sell Facebook for $75 million. Back then it was called TheFacebook. Strawberries can also be white or yellow, and some can even taste like pineapples! I attend a medical day-centre in Texas for needed medical services. It's religious oriented, so not gender fluid friendly. I of course dress 100% in female attire yet androgynous to keep both "them happy", and I really don't mind.    I of course am imposed rules that no other participant is bound by. The examples are the allowed size of my backpack, or how many visits per day I can see my Representative payee.  The gender neutral restroom use was a compromise that all off us have agreed to.  Not being able to wear tanks tops or shorts that aren't "Bermuda length" are other examples of where I am restricted more than any other participant. "Bra talk" is strictly forbidden, even though their doctor and occupational therapist were the ones that told me I needed support due to neck pain.    I found myself being reprimanded by staff three times yesterday for very petty details, and they have constantly pushed for me to remove myself from the program voluntarily. I am of course someone not welcomed in the program, but federal discrimination laws prevent them from removing me. They instead are just making life miserable with the hopes that I will leave on my own.

Nope.  I live in a rural area.  Pride events are for city folks.  The normally quiet LGBTQ+ club kind of changes atmosphere during that time, and things get a bit political.  As a non-Democrat, I avoid it.
