Mother of trans child attacked by TERFs

Those of you who so strenuously defend the TERFs, and try to assert some level of moral equivalence between TERFs and transwomen (because it's transwomen they primarily attack) need to stop and look at this.

Remember the mother who stood up for her little girl who had been assigned male at birth? She has become to target of vicious social media attacks by the TERF community. And some of the assertions of the TERFs are absurd. How does a three year old child use "male privilege" to force her way into being accepted as a female?

The TERF movement is a pure hate movement. It deliberately ignores the latest results from neurobiology and from embryology, it ignores the recommendations of the AMA and APA, and they go out of their way to target, attack, demean, defame, and dehumanize transwomen. The TERF community has members who have celebrated transwomen's deaths. Transwomen don't go looking for fights with TERFs and usually only react to such bigotry. That's a rather important difference. Transwomen don't choose to be the bigots here; the TERFs do. When transwomen say unkind things towards TERFs it's almost always because of such vicious attacks having come from the TERFs first.

People should remember these things. This mother didn't even know who the TERFs were, let alone approach them. She was attacked by them first.

That mother totally took their logic to task. I only wish I had been more vocal at an earlier age like her daughter, but perhaps my dysphoria just wasn't as strong and needed to build up before I really felt the sting of it.

Good for her for standing up.

I always recommend people judge each other as individuals instead of by titles. Esp something like TERF, as it is something that one doesn't call themselves, it is assigned to them by others.

It is hard to talk of what this mother has faced as there are no direct quotes. I've always said it isn't a position I would ever want to find myself, because at the moment I don't know what the right answer is, and any way one goes, there will be judgements made, though I'm sure however this plays out the mother thinks she's doing what's best based for her child on the current info she has.

Social media is not a place for the timid. There is a whole lot of anger and very little actual discussion. I have no clue what kind of person can make a death threat towards another, but they are going back and forth.

The word TERF is becoming meaningless even beyond how it started as it is now used by many in the community to silence anyone who is critical of another's ideas. This is an example that was forwarded to me a while ago. There is a word that is blocked. You can play guessing games if you want.

This was a Trans woman's reply to another Trans woman, who also happens to write for Transadvocate. Parker Molloy's crime that started the problem? She had the opinion that it was creepy when women over 25 or so called themselves girl. Not trans women. Any women. She was looking at it from a feminist perspective.

She was also put on a blocking program for a short time that protects transwomen from TERFs. Parker Molloy. I know, right? :)

I totally agree. Parker is a vicious vicious TERF.

TERFs do a lot of damage to others but also to themselves in their vicious attacks on others who are not radical feminists. Their rhetoric sounds like the extremists in the 70s who put down anything male. I know a couple of people in my own spiritual community who are very anti trans. Any MTF is just trying to infiltrate them and any FTM is a traitor to her sisters.

History of the term TERF:

http://www.transadvocate.com/terf-what-it-means-and-where-it-came-from_n_13066.htm

TERF was created by cisgender radical feminists to distinguish trans exclusionary radical feminists from other trans inclusive radical feminists. Transwomen began to use the term only after other radical feminists began to use the term to distinguish themselves from this particular hate group.

To argue that a term is "losing its meaning" because a few people misuse it is absurd.

People who are out publicly, and openly transgender, maybe on HRT, having changed names and gender, have a lot to lose if anti-trans politicians take power.  They have openly called for our eradication, and promise to do everything they can to accomplish this.  (again, 2025) For someone in this position the election is about our survival.  It's foolish to delude ourselves into thinking "Oh, they don't really mean that.  It's all for show," or, "There's other more important things to concern ourselves with." Maybe for some people the other things take priority.  But if you have skin in the game, things look different.

If that happens, a lot of things I don't want to see might also be codified into law.  And some things that shouldn't be law might not get repealed.  To me, progress in one area isn't worth the price we'd have to pay in several other areas.     For me, voting on LGBTQ issues always ends up as an "out of the frying pan, but into the fire" sort of event.

Trying out a new wig. Got my reading glasses on. I've also got dark roots now - first time in years.

Thea, your post made me think of a comic named Chloe Petts whom I saw recently on Hannah Gadsby's Gender Agenda comedy special on Netflix. She is a cisgender masculine lesbian. She is brilliant and so funny. I was intrigued by her identification - specifically masculine, not butch. And it seems to me there is a difference.

Today I had a dr appt. When I checked in, I was asked my surname, which I gave. Apparently there were two patients with appointments at that time with that same surname. The receptionist asked, "Are you (my legal name which is feminine) or Paul?" I got such a kick out of it not being assumed I had the feminine name.

That must have felt affirming, albeit perhaps weirdly so. However, I'd construe that more broadly (no pun intended) as sexism rather than misogyny where the latter would imply contempt. Also, incidentally, I've heard chivalry referred to as "benevolent sexism".

My boss is in a panic. His business is a couple straws away from breaking a camel in half. He's just handling the stress very poorly.   My dad, though. He's handling things pretty well, as long as I continue to don't get massively offended by being called: son, boy, etc. His eldest is leaving the State and looks so different than he's been used to over the years. I haven't told him I'm on HRT, but to be fair the changes haven't been massive. I've always had boobs, more so after COVID weight gain and made more obvious with its loss, but now I'm not hiding them--and obviously wearing a bra. The estrogen has done some work, but nothing major (sadly). I think the biggest HRT changes have been my skin and a mild amount of fat redistribution.   Today I'm wearing my cheater, I almost have cleavage! :D I need to get another t-shirt bra to keep a good rotation. I only have two, one push-up, and the rest are unlined (great for Summer, but not great for my Summer wardrobe ).

I eat a ketogenic diet and have had no problems. I don't know about your case but I suspect it is the estrogen. Research the types of ways to take estrogen. Pay close attention to the bloodwork results. If they are not satisfactory, bring it up with your doctor. I take injectables, which are fully covered by insurance. It may not be the route for you, but something to consider. I emphasize to do your research and good luck. You can solve this. Be persistent.    Jennifer

I'm in a magenta blouse under a baby blue buttoned cardigan - still a little cool here in the northeast today - with dark blue jeans. Oh, and my favorite flame colored copper feather earrings.

White crop top and capri jeans ;) Finaly tricked the face id on my phone, "that's not you" lol.

This is my opinion, so take it for that. Fatigue is based more on what you eat. Eat a more healthy diet, and stay away from ultra-processed foods and that should help. Think of eating the way we did a couple hundred years ago before the industrial revolution. It's just a thought.   Jennifer
