I do hope President Obama signs an order allowing for trans* folks to serve openly. How many of us have joined and found it to not be enough to take away the dysphoria. The fact that Laura's has a veterans forum is a good indication of the need. What better way to serve your country than as yourself.

I don't see why not, they can always go into the non-combatant service's and free up those who want combat units, they would be a great help, after all they have women in airborne, seals, rangers, etc

There arent any blocks to serving whatsoever in the UK forces policy. Appears to be something more deeply rooted in the US psyche.

Absolutely true. Australia has successfully handled trans service members for years as well including allowing transition while in service.

The US is simply gripped by transphobia (which is often a misplaced bit of homophobia) and allows such ridiculous and grotesque fears and lies to dominate its policy decisions.
