Have You Thanked a Transsexual Lately?

This may prove a singular point-of-view rather than the view of the majority. Perhaps most CDers didn't need a bridge to a road of self-discovery. I did. I don't think I would be a crossdresser today but for the courage and determination of those transsexuals who shared their own considerably more brave walks of fulfillment on the internet. The videos and blogs of these courageous individuals inspired me to have the courage to go beyond curiosity. They pushed aside the curtain of fear that been preventing me from acting upon this latent desire. Our paths may be quite different, but for me the transsexual community blazed a trail of discovery for me. Three cheers!

I don't know whether things would change in general with me but my state of mind is much improved by the personal stories of people here. It is one thing to read the facts but far better to learn from the experience of others!

I think everyone's path is different and each will learn from others - We all help each other!

I certainly know that if it weren't for the internet i would have had a much more difficult time in my transition. I was never comfortable as a cross dresser because it was always portrayed as a perversion or a joke as i grew up. For years i felt guilty about being a cross dresser. I found that hard enough and the internet when it started seemed to only contain porn which made it even harder to accept myself. Meeting several trans* people and then being honest about the extent and direction of my journey almost sent me back to the bottle. That would have equalled suicide for me as an alcoholic. Fortunately the support i found in the rooms of AA kept me from drinking and the folks who i met here helped me to accept myself.

Each time i faced a new hurdle i was reassured that others had been there before.

I do think posting here helps all of us regardless of our path. Thanks for reminding me.

Hugs,

Charlize

You mean that transition is the right path for CD too?

Inspiration does not equate to transition, although the 2 words both end in "tion".....

I'm glad Kati that you have found inspiration and can be yourself.

I am not here to tell anyone what to do as far as transition goes, but I have done nothing impossible, and my stories only show what is possible, but not what must be done to live with GD in any of its forms. Every one of us does transition though, in the sense that we move from one point to another across a broad horizon, transition when it means simply change, and hopefully change to make their lives better is something that is good.

I am glad that Kati and others like her feel in good company and feel they can be their full true selves.

I think we all can be inspirations to one another in different ways. I am glad that some in the trans community, via their openness and visibility, have helped you find your path even as that path differs from their own.

Hear! Hear! Interestingly, on Friday in the local on-line news service, there was a feature on 6 models who are trans-women! And stunning they were too. So a big thank you to all of you out there who have blazed the trail.

I can totally understand how Transgender people actually changing their Real Life Gender is inspirational and can give someone confidence to cross dress.

To me cross dressing is like a hobby or a thrill. It may feel like cross dressing is so far off of what people accept (that is how I felt in my early days) and it may feel like it is something you can not do.

Until you learn about the world of Real Life Transition, and suddenly cross dressing doesn't seem too far out at all ! Its like "Transition Light" I had actually hoped that Cross dressing was all I needed. I could keep it a secret and it is more of a game. It would be nice to skip all the other crud it takes to transition full time. Sadly I know I need to transition and walk the walk. but I too am thankful for all the trail blazers which have come before myself. The best part is Everyone this day has the opportunity to blaze a trail for future generations. We are in many way pioneers thanks to the global consciousness provided rather recently by the invention of the INTERNET !

Everyone...and that is EVERYONE on Laura's helped me through the confusion of my late arrival into cross-dressing and understanding the transgender world. Without you all I would be stuck. With you, I have peace, calm and tranquillity and a sense of identity I would not otherwise have. I know you don't hear from me much, but I'd just like to say this to you all. I still remember Brenda's wonderful response to my first question that made everything all right for me. Brenda, thanks!

I know I definitely owe a lot to the transgender movement. And when I think about it the transgender movement is in some ways built upon the gay, lesbian and bisexual rights movement. Which built upon the Civil Rights movement. Which was in some ways inspired by Gandhi's methods of nonviolent protest. It's inspiring to think of the chain that connects the courageous, compassionate and morally strong people throughout history to one another. Perhaps some day some oppressed group of people will be able to draw strength from those who were part of the crossdressing movement.

Two things amaze me, One how fast short haired dogs dry. Two how did you keep from loosing your glasses? I'm glad you wear a life jacket while kayaking even on smooth waters such as ponds or lakes. I'm guessing you learned a few things about landing and exiting the kayak.    Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Aside from the X-Files, Gilmore Girls is easily my favorite TV show. I originally watched the original airing in the commuter lounge at my college starting in 2000 because I was embarrassed to watch it at home when I living as a man. Now that I am out and transitioned, I watch it openly and wear Gilmore Girls t-shirts at work on days that I wear a skirt. For Valentine’s Day, my wife bought me the DVD’s. Yesterday I had to stay at work late because of an IT problem (I am not IT so I just had to make sure the pump stations telemetry was functioning properly before I could leave, IT did the actual work) and so I watched it on Netflix. Lorelai Gilmore inspired me to change my name to Lorelei. Yes, I picked a more traditional spelling on the name. The mother daughter interaction between them is heartwarming and sometimes hilarious. Last week I just started rewatching it again. Ironically I relate most to Luke, very rare as I almost always relate to a female character. Anyone else here love the show?

Good morning everyone,   @Birdie continued prayers for you as they figure thing out. I'm glad you're being properly cared for.   @April Marie I love the pageantry of the Kentucky Derby the bright dresses, and fascinating hats worn by the ladies. As for the mint juleps... I'll pass, they're just to aromatic for me.  We'll be watching "The Fastest Two Minutes in Sports" as well.   @Adrianna Danielle & @awkward-yet-sweet it is amazing how a new stove seems to cook food better. Cooking for 36 people is a phenomenal task, and if you're doing it on anything less than a professional cook stove. You're preforming miracles, and I wish you the best.   My yard work is done for the day, because I don't have to wait until Saturday to do it. I'm getting use to this mostly retired situation. The windows and doors have been open since I first got up and the yard is full of bird songs. I have the best neighbors because they don't start their noisy yard work until very late morning or early afternoon.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

I took an involuntary swim wearing my quick dry hiking pants and shirt. Lifejacket not shown but present on the rock I am sitting on. Watson is dry now but I am still soaked. I capsized my kayak 5 feet from the shore trying to land on an island. Water in the pond was surprisingly warm considering it is early may in upstate New York.

@Birdie best of luck to you, my friend.   @MaeBe, nothing ventured, nothing gained! Good luck!

Oh I will. He loves to just sleep on the couch and sleep. Not very active at all which I'm mixed about. Less to do but also want him to do more too.

We had a German Shepheard/Lab cross! It was actually our son's dog but when he moved out, Axel stayed here. ❤️ He was soooo awesome! Totally goofy, but really smart, and a million percent lovable. Unfortunately, he didn't even get to see his fifth birthday. 😢 He did both hind knees in quick succession, which were repaired, but he re-injured one and it wasn't repairable. The grief we went through after we made that horrible decision was far worse than anything we have ever experienced before or after.    @Ashley0616, please be gentle with his joints until he is all grown up!   This pic is when he was still a puppy.

When things seemed really rocky with my wife. I had thought about moving to the PNW. WA and OR are quite LGBTQ friendly. Even interviewed for a couple jobs there.   Hugs, Kymmie

Friday night was pizza night, which is actually pretty routine here.    Tonight was a bit of a seafood fry-up. Crumbed flathead tails pan fried, crumbed scallops and chips (fries) deep fried, and a salad.   Tomorrow night will be junk food at a football game.

I was admitted upstairs for observation. The nurse last night took one look at me and said, "we need to use a FEMALE external catheter on you."   They placed a PureWick catheter over me and it's working great. If there isn't anything to connect a male catheter to it just isn't going to work.   So far I haven't passed more blood, and my abdomen does feel better. A specialist is supposed to see me today and perhaps order a colonoscopy to find out where all the blood came from.
