A funny moment on the phone.

The other day the phone rang and I answered. I said "Hello?" She replied, "Hello <Spouse's Name>." On the other end I recognized the voice of my mother-in-law. I paused and said, "Oh! She's not here." A corresponding pause and "She's not? To whom am I speaking?" Finally, it dawned on her... "Oh, this is <My Male Name>?" "Yes, can I take a message for her?" "Just tell her I called and to call me back, please."

I was amused. Very very amused. You have to realize that I've known these people for 37 years now. Well, actually 45, since we knew each other since 4th grade but anyway, I've known this woman for a long, long time. The fact that she had no clue who I was on the phone and that she thought I was her own daughter left me grinning from ear to ear.

A nurse from my daughter's doctor's office called a couple weeks ago and when I answered the phone, she said, "Is this Taylor's mother?" Part of me wanted to say yes, but I didn't. I am amazed how many people gender me female on the phone. I don't even try and I get it. I'm sure one day my own family will think I'm my wife. Guess I need to get a wife first...lol.

Fun times

Just about anytime I answer the phone and it is for my spouse anymore they call me by my spouses name. Unless of course it is one of our friends who usually can tell us apart.

Another funny moment on the phone today. I can't even do a male voice anymore so this is getting hysterically funny.

I answer the phone.
Caller: "May I speak to David R*****?"
Since I have not changed all accounts, I answered, "This is David. How can I help you?"
Caller: Loooooooooonnnnng pause.
Me: "Hello? Hello? How can I help you?"
Caller: "Um, well, Mr. R***** this is <telemarker> from Sirius XM Radio calling about your XM subscription in your Ford Focus."
Me: "I'm not interested."
Caller: Long Pause.... "May I ask why?"
Me: "I don't drive enough to justify the expense."
Caller: Long pause yet again.... "Oh. Well, thank you for your time, ma'am.. I mean, sir."
Click.
I am dying laughing here. :) I am now convinced that he thinks he got someone else, perhaps David's "wife" or "girlfriend". :P But it was pretty clear how confused he was. :)

OMG!!!! To go along with voices and having a good time with them.

Last night I went out with some people from the local support group after our group meeting. This one girl I had never seen before (we'll call her Sarah) was there and when she walked in, I had a hard time believing she was ever a male. She had transitioned about 8 years ago when she was 23 so of course she looked great.

So we're all standing around and the topic turned to voices and hers sounds so feminine natural that you'd never know, but she started talking about listening to country and said she likes to sing the deep male parts in the song "Elvira" and after we all laughed, she decided to show us. Talk about people having to pick up their jaws. This girl could switch voices so easily and never skip a beat.

Later she started using her male voice to do comedic lines from movies with male actors and it was downright hilarious. We tried to get her to order her dinner from the waitress in her male voice but she decided against that.

I love getting ma'amed on the phone and if they ever need to speak to "him" again, perhaps I'll let them...lol. "Hi. May I speak to Mr. W*****?" "Sure, just a minute." "This is Mr. W*******." Hahahahaha.

Now I'm debating having my voice feminization surgery because I would lose out on all this fun.

God bless

I'm still considering the VFS from Yeson, Ashely, simply because every single result I've heard so far has been amazing. But it's really low low low priority compared to other things now that I'm getting ma'amed on the phone.

It is an incentive to try harder - one way of getting entertainment would be by having a multi person conversation with a nuisance phonecaller. Perhaps not a major gain but as a leading supermarket chain here says - Every little helps!

Great boosts to confidence :)
