So....I got my TV hooked up awhile back and I've noticed that I've been watching CSI miami a lot. I love space channel but for some reason CSI just catches my eye. A lot of it has to do with ogling Horatio Caine. Rather then that I think just seeing the 'crime world' is interesting to me. It's stuff I never think of or see well I hide in my room all day. The Eps I hate are the ones where they are 'to be continued' and the bad guys still out there...

Haha, something we have in common!

Will do. This one channel I have has tons of CSI eps on in a row.

24, House, and american Idol are my current favorites

I watched EVERY ep of house online. It lasted along time and I was sad to get to the last one.

It's been years since I followed a television show that I watched on an actual television! But lately I've been watching earlier seasons of The Simpsons online - I didn't get into the show until it was supposedly past its prime, because my parents didn't allow me to watch it until I was older.

Clone High is a good show I've watched recently, but I don't feel qualified to explain it to anyone who hasn't seen it. It's unique, and probably takes some degree of nerdiness to appreciate.

Well I was close enough that you knew who I was talking about - the receipiant of the Jethro Gibbs' head slap.

Somehow I missed the episode where he spelled it - I only catch it in reruns anyway - rehearsal night is Tuesday! :(

I didn't mention Dr. Mallard (Ducky) because so many of the people here are too young to remember the Man From U.N.C.L.E. and David Mc Callum's role as the dshing young agent from Russia. :P

My senserist apologies to special agent Anthony DiNozzo, it's bad enough that NCIS doesn't get the funding or recognition of the FBI and the CIA but now I even got his name wrong - I should probably go apologize to him personally. :D

Then there are series like Jag and and if you live in my area it is required that you watch at least 4 episodes of Walker, Texas Ranger a week!

Love ya,

Sally

I found this neat little item that will show the younger ones why I would even mention Ducky in with the other hot guys.

Enjoy!

Sally

Robert Vaughn wasn't so bad either!

Television - ahhhhh junk!

I tried not toget sucked back into Ameican Idol but it didn't work. I hate how they make those poor kids suffer through not only the next commercial but also the guest singer before telling them to pack up and hit the road. And they let 'America" vote so the winner can be a real loser while the talent has to come from elsewhere in the top twelve (including winning an Oscar). Remember the winner, older and grey haired... what's his name? Two years ago? [see what I mean]. But the stories on these people are so interesting.

And House - a BRILLIANT show forever, but it's starting to slip a bit (maybe it is me).

I was an HBO and Showtime addict for their outstanding different series for a long time (Supranos, Six Feet Under were outstanding) but that faded when they went back to formula.

So I watch the cooking shows mainly (I am a dull girl sometimes - but they makes appropriate TV noises when I am cleaning house).

I watched Sex Change Hospital (HORRIBLE title) for obvious reasons - I try to catch any TG relted specials.

I am like everyone else and watch the History Channel (now they are so not so much the 'Hitler" Channel) and History Channel International. National Geograhic is usually very good and so is the Animal Channel.

And all the premium Movie sites - when something good is on.

BUT I really spend free time on the internet, mainly Laura's [and a few other sites]. When Forum is slow, I go to CHAT!

Television is junk! Oh I forgot - I watch all the news programs, local stuff, not that hyped up news trash with one story live [running it into the ground by rehashing rehashing rehashing] and other teasers running in print below. New Oleans is always a hot spot for mother stabbings and father rapings. We play guess where the body's found tonight - a drug killing? How unusual!

Actually I'm not watching much television. I was feeling cheap and since I'm always off in the field somewhere playing war, I put my satellite on hold for six months.

Before, I was watching Scrubs, the Colbert Report, South Park. I can catch those online, but I haven't. I love the History Channel and Comedy Central. I did have Showtime and I will feel bad not seeing Nurse Jane which is starting in June. That looks like it would have been funny.

I had no idea that you were so into it that you put war above satellite TV! :o

You must really enjoy it and it gets you outside, so good for you! :D

I love the Daily Show and The Colbert Report, but if you get a chance to go outside and do something that you truly love, then you made a great choice.

I watch House, Scrubs, and Doogie Howser. It seems that in the long run, only medical shows can really hold my interest :P. I watch House on schedule, Scrubs whenever there's time, and Doogie on hulu.

Then, Sally, you can keep me up on The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. I do kind of miss Stephen Colbert's "The Word".

Y'all should see my reenacting schedule. Something like 15 event weekends this year. Combine that with my Saturday classes and finals and then work, that probably leaves me with something like (52 weekends - 15 events - 12 Classes - 3 exams - 12 work)... Whoa. Like 10 free weekends. :o

I knew I shouldn't have figured that out.

I watched EVERY ep of house online. It lasted along time and I was sad to get to the last one.

House is still on Fox (Monday nights), and the current season is a bit darker and more serious (while Dr. House is still, well, House.

I am also a huge fan of ABC's Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice, both of which ended their seasons the end of March. From the way Grey's finished their season, I can't wait for season 6.

I also am enjoying Fringe (Fox), Medium (NBC), Scrubs and Better Off Ted (ABC) and a bunch of other programs on a variety of channels.

Burn Notice, Royal Pains, MythBusters (always watch it), Bizarre Foods and House.

I think those are the ones I watch the most lately.

I was also hooked up on Heroes, and I'm anxiously waiting for the next season ^_^

I watch a lot of sitcoms (mostly the tv-14 ones lol.) I started watching two and a half men consistently only the beginning of this past season (season 6), and now I have somethign to fight my boredom over the summer - catch up. lol

I think they wrote the characters really well, everyone is very relatable in that show. and their housekeeper, berta, she has my sense of humor so she contributes a lot to the comedy of the show for me. :) oh yeah and i love the episode with the ftm lol.

I also consistently watch Big Bang Theory - makes me feel like less of a nerd  and kaley cuoco... ; I was religiously watching terminator: the sarah connor chronicles - til they cancelled it! gahhh! i think with shows these days, the good ones finish last. :/ also how i met your mother, lie to me (only a "1/2" season but its an awesome show so far...), and south park. although with south park i have only seen the last 2-3 seasons in full, so i have some catching up to do on that one as well. family guy is good too but hard for me to find a lot of the episodes online on all those free sites i watch my shows on haha

there are some "oldies" i like, like fresh prince, full house, and roseanne. so i watch those whenever theyre on and i have time.

i was into grey's anatomy first few seasons but not so much anymore.

and i like house but dont watch it consistently...idk why, i guess im not as good at committing to hour long shows lol.

Welcome to the forums, M.A. Duh . . . more questions came up for me,too--but I'm finding they don't have to be solved all at once. One thing at a time as I ask for help works for me. Keep coming back.  —Davie

Good news is that I have nothing serious going on. The blood was coming from internal hemorrhoids, and the doctor says it's from the "typical American diet." Too much fat and carbs but not enough plant based fiber. A few other things were noted and biopsies on them for safety sake.    Hospital visit was grand with "most" of the staff addressing me as female. I did have "bra talk" with one of the CNA's. Even my discharged papers use my preferred name on them (Birdie).   So basically, adding more fiber to my diet will eliminate my internal hemorrhoids as well as lower my risk for cancer.

For that part, be glad you live in MS and not in CA or some other "paradise."    Unfortunately, right now in the USA it is about choices.  Choose to live in a mostly free state that doesn't want my gender to exist, or choose to live in a leftist place that accepts my gender but not my family or my faith, or how I want to live my life or the stuff I own.   As for the lawsuits... hiring a lawyer costs money.  And a "no fees unless you win" attorney probably won't take a case like this, as it is difficult to get money from folks who often don't have anything.  As they say, "it is hard to get blood from a turnip."

There's a couple of things.  First, since so many LGBTQ+ folks often vote Democrat, it is simply assumed that "LGBTQ = Democrat."  And to many, Democrat = enemy.  The fact that some of us don't vote for Democrats comes as a surprise to many.  You wouldn't believe how many different times I have had to explain how I vote, that I don't like Biden, etc...   And then, there's the flamboyant, over-the-top appearance and behavior of some.  When average folks see strange dress, wild colors, and the occasional provocative behavior in the news, they assume that it is the norm and that all LGBTQ+ folks are like that.  To them, "LGBTQ = weird."    I think that @Abigail Genevieve is right, part of it is lousy marketing.  And that will take a ton of undoing, because it has been going on for years.

Personally, I despise the antics of the "swing" states. Double-minded and unstable, shifting every time the wind blows.  OK, so the Lt Governor of Georgia doesn't like Trump.  Small potatoes.... given the 2020 results, nobody counts on Georgia anyways.

Its midnight here...so, technically morning   I had a really weird evening, and learned something new about politics.  My sister, who is running for public office as our township constable, received a "present" today, left on the hood of her patrol car.  An axe!  Wrapped in a bundle of sticks (dowels?).  The sheriff received one also, and a couple other candidates.  Now, my first thought was it was meant as a threat, and I was freaked out when she told me.  But she wisely identified it as political criticism:   During the 2020 election, a small dissident minority objected to our sheriff, and labeled him "Mussolini."  Apparently the symbol of the F@scist Party came from ancient Rome.  An axe, circled with rods, and the whole bundle was called "fasces" and represented the authority of the state.  Roman officials would have them symbolically carried ahead of them through the city on parade.  Other nations used it too, including the USA.  But since the 1920s, it is mostly associated with a certain political party.  Either I was never taught this in high school, or I didn't notice it.    So, it appears that this election season will have some interesting aspects.  And I have been asked to put gold spray paint on an axe, to make it like a trophy.

Welcome @Vivelacors!  For myself and many others here it is a similar theme.  But, I can assure it's never too late.  I hope that you will discover that as you explore and connect with more of us on the Forum.    You've already taken the most important first step ... Self-Affirmation.  I am wishing you the best in continuing this process. Deep breaths ... One step at a time

I can remember as a teenager being a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints and living in the bible belt. It was always a little hard-I think religion is just tricky anyway.    I was referred to a couple of ladies at church by my mum who gave me very good advice.  One has known those who are are trans- and how they approched it.    The other has two people in their life who identify differently. They also gave other ideas to assist me.     I do like ideas though.

If I am leaving the house I will almost always do makeup.  Not over-the-top but enough to feminize my face (eye shadow, mascara), lipstick, and a light cover of a concealer and foundation. I found my favorite lipsticks are Maybelline.  But the concealer/foundation I 'discovered' in Neutrogena Hydro Boost - Hyaluronic Acid based.  For 'older' gals like me I find it moisturizes and doesn't dry into those annoying fine lines (I have enough of those already).    Hopefully, after facial hair removal I might not feel the need as much.

I think it just comes down to a lot of people not knowing anything about the lgbtq+ community besides what reactionaries online and on TV say. In my experience, people who have a lot more day-to-day contact with gay and trans people, have lgbtq+ friends or family, coworkers, etc. are a lot more accepting because they know an lgbtq+ person, and know that we aren't anything like what the people on TV say we are.
