Bathroom controversy.

All I can say is wow. Are there no stalls in these bathrooms? What privacy is being lost? And did I misinterpret what was being said? It sounds like everyone in the video is under the impression child expositioniay rapists are being allowed inside the bathrooms.

This is appauling. I sat here, for 4 minutes, listening to people whine about the smallest problem ever. THEY are uncomfortable? Imagine how he feels. He's going to get stared at, judged, and scorned because he's been given special rights being transgender. The fact that they are making a big deal out of this just yanks my chain.

It's not like he's staring at them naked, or peeping through the stalls. He's just trying to be a girl.

Good God. Grow up people.

Natalya, a quibble - the child in the video identifies as female therefore, here at Laura's we would use female pronouns for that person. It's a simple matter of respect.

Perhaps a bit of an abstraction but it is interesting how children often mix freely pre-school without worry then are pushed into segregation! Like my thinking that it is often a confident mother who has the peaceful baby is it the understanding mother who also has the understanding unworried child?

It's how I see it anyway

watching that video made me pretty mad. reading the ignorant comments made me furious. Those girls sounded like they were coached into saying what they did.

Like, seriously... get a grip! Its the adults who have the fear, not the children!

I think there may be a valid point concerning the locker room but not with ordinary bathrooms. People do change, with varying degrees of public exposure, in the locker rooms, and I can understand that some may not feel comfortable doing so in the presence of someone of the opposite biological sex regardless of the gender with which that person identifies. It's a tricky issue.

Locker rooms and bathrooms are two different things though. There should be zero reason to keep her out of a bathroom, and accommodations could be made for locker rooms.

When it comes to locker rooms, many non-trans folks fail to realize that we are just as uncomfortable in those situations as they are, if not more so. Why would a teen or young adult want others to see their bodily "flaws?" It goes back to the whole idea that men or boys will pretend to be trans just so they can "peep." Utter rubbish!

Usually locker rooms have changing rooms, or at least a couple of bathrooms stalls. She could always use them. I know when I was on swim team for years, we always showered with swim suits on and most people changed in the bathroom stalls. I will just never understand this fear people have of nudity.

This right here ^

The only problem I saw was with locker rooms. Bathrooms have stalls for a reason. The urinals have more of a chance to peep then stalls ... maybe you could peep through a stall crevice in a stall, but you won't see anything.

I can totally relate to this, even while trying to think Cis (what else was there when I was a teen??) the idea of "peeping" was abhorrent. I had one advantage I suppose in that I had sisters close enough in age that we even shared tub baths at young ages, so I knew what girls looked like, and if I really wanted a better look, my mom's nursing text books were better than my dad's adult mags. The nursing books gave the science, and I loved learning more than lusting. Teach real life anatomy younger than we do and get the "dirty" curiosity element out of things. It would be worth the public cost to have ADULT educations on how to "Talk To The Kids About Human Anatomy" <rant termination> -----

Ding! Ding! Ding! I am totally uncomfortable around other women in that situation. I've shared a hotel room with two of my best cisgender friends and both have paraded around the room semi-nude at points but I avoid that and they completely understand why. One even said to me 'Someday you're going to walk out of one of those bathrooms completely nude and it won't bother you with us here." I grinned and replied "Someday." And the other chimed in with, "Yep, after Thailand." :P They both know and understand my discomfort.

This is actually interesting...I've always had a very intense fear/discomfort with being in any state of undress around others, even if it was just male dressing/locker room...in fact that almost seemed worse. Thinking to myself, I don't feel like this would be the same if I had different anatomy...hmm

I'll confess to looking for problems when there may not be any.

At the office where I volunteer, I avoid using the women's rest room. I've done it before elsewhere, but this is such a wonderful situation for me that don't want to chance causing anyone unnecessary discomfort. I know...I have a right to be in there. But I can choose not to be, also.

I'm there only three hours at a time, plus a thirty-minute commute both ways. So it's manageable if I forgo my morning coffee. The two women I work closely with are aware of my concern, and one of them jokingly tries to ply me with water so I'll have to go.

I can understand the locker room issue being a problem with many people but I think my main concern is with embarrassment to / of others. I have always felt far less uncomfortable with being partially (or even totally) undressed with women than with men. It is at first unusual when swiming with mixed showers (with costume on) and the stalls for changing but soon feels natural

Kira, I was always uncomfortable around other males in locker rooms as well. But that was years ago. At nearly 27 months on HRT, I like where my body is going now and though I don't identify as an exhibitionist, I'm becoming less and less uncomfortable with my body... minus certain parts that are still problematic for me.

I'm not interested in makeup, jewelry or nice clothes or girly stuff.  It's made me wonder at times.   It saves some money.  If I wore a skirt it would likely  be denim.  I thought about a woman's skirt suit but nah.   Neither of my sisters are into that stuff either.  One likes peasant chic (still a 60s flower girl)  and the other - the only time she has ever worn a dress was at her wedding.  Jeans at all other times.   Jeans and t shirt here.  Content being a girl.  Weirdo. Weirda? Never mind.

@Ladypcnj Before posting links to other group's websites, PM one of the Staff (preferably an Admin) and have them check that site out.   We have specific rules here regarding age appropriateness and would need to know that the other site is in line with those rules.  We do have members here between 13 and 18 and other sites need to be safe for that age range, legally and otherwise.  Also, we are not a dating or pick-up site, not do we allow people selling things to advertise here.  As I said clear the link with a moderator or admin before posting it.  Mod's and admins do check out posts and if we find problem links we will remove them and notify the OP of a rules violation.  Go to https://www.transgenderpulse.com/community-rules to understand where we are.

I raise my hand in the group, I have a question and a suggestion... is it allowed to share other new lgbtq+ website links here?
    • Ladypcnj
Yeah, ELF is a good brand, another brand is Revlon ColorStay last 24 hours.

I really don't think that's a good idea. The unity of the LGB and T community is historic and has been central for both groups rights. And the vast majority of people advocating for splitting the two are transphobic LGB's who are broadly condemned by the community anyway.

A bit late in updating, but I've had the draft of the official diagnosis and have (as yet unconfirmed) an endo consultation next month.   Next to arrive will be the supporting documentation for my new passport application for my correct gender.  This will then be my official ID for all the other updates - bank, tax, payroll etc.   It just feels good to to be proactive again rather than waiting for other people to move at a leisurely pace.

I like ELF brand cosmetics, I can pick them up at JC Penny.    I wear makeup everyday, but mostly just very light makeup.

Hi Mae Be, whenever it comes to makeup, there are so many different bands to choose from. Picking out the right makeup comes with trial and error, until you find one that works for you and blends well with your skin tone, some makeup products can leave the skin feeling oily. It's a good idea to look at the labels on the makeup product to know what the creators put in the makeup, just in case skin allergies. Once you found the makeup brand, you can add it to your shopping list, good luck
