Now it simply has to play in a theater near you.

Here's a link to the movie's website. I totally cannot wait to see this!

http://www.boymeetsgirlmovie.com/

What's more is that I'm looking at this lovely lady, Michelle Hendley, (who is transgender, btw) and I'm seeing a young lady that I can finally identify with and relate to after all these years.

Also the website has trailers for the movie and some behind the scenes stuff, too.

Looks like a good Rom com. I hope all the good bits aren't just what's in the trailer though.

It's on Vimeo. Just watched last night. Overall it's the best trans movie I've ever seen. I highly recommend it. As much as I was dissatisfied with Transparent I loved this. It was so sweet.

I'm not much for romantic comedies, but I kind of want to see this just because they've actually cast a trans actor in a trans role! It's sad that alone makes me happy.

Ripely it really isn't a romantic comedy. Not in the sense that it's usually used. It's much more of a dramedy or just plain drama. There's plenty of funny lines but that's not the focus at all.

Just an fyi, this movie is now available to purchase and watch online or you can buy the dvd on amazon.

...and my copy is in the mail as we speak. I'm excited! I've heard really good things about this movie. Like, "it's a more positive depiction of us and our struggle than TransAmerica was" and "not just in the top 10 of must see movies with a transgender character, but the #1 movie of that list"

It's also on Netflix instant video so, if you have Netflix, it's free! Thanks so much for sharing, I'm about to watch it now!

OMG! That was such a GREAT movie! It was so real and, by far, the best depiction of trans women and our struggles (and joys) that I've ever seen. On top of that, it was just a good movie all around.

Overall, a MUST WATCH!

I ordered the DVD yesterday, and it arrived in the mail today.

...too bad I'm not going to be home to watch it, but, mom is bringing it along for our get together in WI.

Speedy delivery at it's finest!

I just finished watching the movie and I have mixed reviews. I liked it in parts and I didn't like it in parts. The movie did a very good job at showing some of the struggles we face with acceptance. The cynic in me looked at a couple scenes in the movie and thought, "that wouldn't happen" but as a friend reminded me...it's a movie, so it's a bit of an exaggeration of the normal. Um, I wasn't expecting full-frontal in this movie so just be mindful of that. (I can't exactly have my mom watch it because she doesn't like that kind of thing) Then of course I cried at the end.

For the most part, though, the movie was definitely relate-able. Several times, Ricky said something that I would have said myself. :)

We watched it the other night with my father-in-law and sister-in-law visiting. We all enjoyed it and it speaks so many truths about being transgender.

I actually bought that movie (Boy meets Girl) because I loved it, and the cast and story. Another good movie to watch, I believe it's a made for TV movie, called Normal. Jessica Lange played the part amazingly.

While Boy meets Girl had a couple parts where I cried pretty hard, there were some parts in Normal where I fell completely apart. Both have happy endings and both are in my opinion, well made......

AWESOME Movie :)

FYI, if anyone didn't know, the trans star Michelle Hendley has her own Youtube channel.  I love it.  She posts sporadically, but it's always interesting and sometimes very funny.

Yes, I own the DVD.  I ordered it the minute it was available...

On a slightly funny note, I recommended the film to a cis-female co-worker.  She liked it, but her comment was,"Why didn't they cast a "real" transgender in the lead?"...  She thought Michelle was a cis-female made to look trans with "special effects" :)

I saw this concert in which it is said that the famous phrase of Jon Landau "I saw the future of rock and roll and his name is Bruce Springsteen" comes from that night. By the way Bruce opened for Bonnie Raitt that night and she was the better performer . . . just sayin'.

Astronomy and astrophotography.  I have done a few public presentations on the subject and could most likely wing it for an hour without putting you to sleep.   On the other hand if you need a sleeping pill, I could also talk for an hour about flying and you'd be out cold.

Please consider joining us, even if it's just for a few minutes to see what the meetings are like. I've learned so much, had so much fun and gained confidence in myself just by being a part of this amazing group of people. It's a low key, no pressure, non-judgmental chance to just be among people who are supportive, understanding and affirming of each other.    I'm travelling out of state and still planning on dropping in for awhile.    Come see what it's like!!

Thank you, Susan!! It was such an amazing experience for me. I can't remember if I even talked about it on a Zoom meeting.   Here is the link to the post I made about it. And, again, thank you for helping to give me the courage to do it.

Good morning coffees   This probably doesn’t exactly apply to me because you wouldn’t have found a more shy and conservative person than me.  I was perhaps less shy before my sister started complaining about me doing things that were hers to do. And I would become embarrassed and that was the end of that.   upstairs unit got their typical weekend visitors in the middle of the night last night.  They woke me up.  They have little consideration for being in a condo community and the neighbors being in such close proximity.   @awkward-yet-sweet , how goes the job with your husband’s boss?  I don’t recall you saying much about it this week, but I could have missed a post along the way.  If I recall you were supposed to meet with him last Monday.   @KymmieL I hope you are feeling better.     Yes, I find it to be wrong that just because a car part says Ford or Chevrolet on the box that same part with Lincoln or Cadillac on the box cost a lot.more.  I know there are differences in the upscale brands such as the engine and drivetrain in the Caddy and of course the interior fit and finish.  But it’s the same body with things crammed in the same way under the hood.     well, time to finish my coffee, fix my hair and made my way across the street to work.    willow

I read about her this morning. What a shame! She was beautiful and it seems she had a strong support system in place and could have had a wonderful life all to have it end like this. Such a waste. I truly hope the monster that killed her gets everything he deserves.
