So I go to the grocery store. There's an old man in line, about 60 years old. He tell me to go before him but I refuse saying he was there before. We talk a little. At that point i'm not sure if I pass or not. I use my more feminine voice to at least not attract too much attention. Then after talking a little with the store clerk the old man turn to me and say : "Have a pleasant evening madam" and he makes one of those salute they do in theatre at the end.

At that point i'm like, wow, that man was nice. I think it was my first time. I wish everybody was this nice

LOL Vicky. I'm a younger lady and I simply adore gentlemen that are in their 60's and above. They usually can't see as good and always treat me like a lady. Holding doors for me, tipping their hat to me, saying nice things, like "good evening mamm" and "have a nice day, young lady". They always get a real big smile from me and that seems to make their day. They just don't realize how good they've made ME feel.

Older guys are always such gentlemen. and will typically go that extra mile to help a lady out it is often times really sweet . Over the winter I was out running erands and my hubby asked me if I could stop and fill up the kerosene jug while I was out. It wasn;t a big deal. When I pulled up to the pump there was a guy filling up his kerosene jugs on the opposing side I would say he was in his mid 50s . I get out, grab our 5 gallon jug from the trunk. we exchanged pleasantries mostly over how cold it was. Extremely cold that day to the tune of -15 . It was so cold I instantly had trouble getting the cap of the jug. it's one of those you have to squeeze the side in to get it over the notch on the side. Normally I don't have trouble with it . but my hands had quickly frozen and I just could not manipulate this damn thing to turn it. That's when he goes " Here hon let me help you " he pops it off with on hand , then proceeds to not only fill the jug for me but carry and put it in my trunk. I thanked him and he said " it really aught to be your husband out here doing this " I said " oooh, he is at home sick " I thanked him again and left.

it is one of those sweet gestures you hardly ever see from younger men.

I hear you. However, many of us that have always believed in chivalry are sometimes put off by militant feminists that 'go off' when we try to help or worse yet, the lazy guy in the car makes his girl fill up the car or what you described. But offer to help, NOW he gets out of the car to start trouble.

However, it's nice to read your story......
