Hi all, before I get into the main event, I'd like to share a bit of an update.

Firstly, I found a place where you can "self refer" yourself. That's right, I did just say self refer; I had to check with my doctor's receptionist to make sure I didn't mishear her. It's in Guelph, about half an hour from me. It's called Arch Clinic. I have an appointment with her next Wednesday. And then she said a doctor will see me in two weeks. So here's to hoping HRT will start in two weeks!

Second, I have good, and bad (ish) news about the CPA. The bad, is that I failed the fitness test by about 12%. We had to hold a core stability pose for 3 minutes - my time was 2:56 (yeah ... I was pretty mad about that), a flexibility test which I was pretty decent at, pushup counts that I did quite well on with respect to the last time I trained my chest, and then the shuttle runs. A 6 I believe was required to pass, and I got a 4. My body literally gave out before my will did. I had to sit for 20 minutes and someone had to help me up since my legs were a bit incapable of holding me. lol. Shows you that I was determined to do it, but that my body wasn't strong enough ... it still irks me. This can translate to a positive, since I know exactly what to do to train for the real deal.

Third, we covered the special response teams. Drug sniffing dogs, bomb squad, riot control. hostage negotiations ... I was so glad I didn't leave after the fitness test - I really, really wanted to. I was tired beyond compare and upset because I didn't pass.

I got to try on the heavy armor. Yes, I had pictures taken!! The special events co-ordinator has to email them to me but once they do they'll come straight here. When I say heavy armor, it was heavy. I was probably about 100 lbs heavier in just the armor; that didn't include weapons and tools, a shield, or the battering ram!!

We got flashbanged!! omg! That was probably the best part of that night! A killer on the ears, but the experience was incredible. 10/10 would do it again.

Okay ... onto the main event. I was coming home from all my errands yesterday after work, a normal day. And I see this SUV swerve from the fast lane and rear end the transit bus!? Then, it swerves off the road into a fence!? Um ... omg? I'm fine. I was nowhere near the collision, and I stopped to help. Physically, he only had a scrape to his forehead and he was fine, but from what he said, he should not have been driving. He told me that "He was behind the bus, then he was here", and that he'd just been released from a general hospital and was "driving home". I made sure to include in my statement that "the bus was in the wrong place at the wrong time". Afterwards, I'd asked if this could potentially help me. The officer said that when I'm looked up, the fact that I chose to stay around as a witness would come up! That sounds good ... right?

I think I'm still a little ptsd about it ... when it comes to mind, all I can see is the incident. Nobody was hurt that I know of. I'm a little upset that I wasn't the first one to call it in, but by the time I'd gotten out of my car and processed what had just happened, someone was already on the phone. I can't believe I'd just witnessed that. Looks like my therapist session is going to cover mostly the crash ...

God Bless

Kayla -- I was in Law Enforcement for 33 years, although mine was not the gun toting. traffic stopping branch of things, so the quality you showed there in evaluating the accident and being a witness to it is one I am very familiar with and applaud you for. I actually relied on peoples powers of observation and coherent reporting as the supervisor of a group of un-armed field investigators to be sure that some very serious (translate money) issues were resolved justly and honestly and quickly. It may be a pointer for you in a direction a little off from your Peace Officer goals, but it could be a sight on other careers just as satisfying as mine became.
