I am totally happy for the girl in this article! Period.

She said she could look down at herself after a shower and be happy!

If only I could have had a surgeon like she did! Well actually, I had the same one. So seeing the pics in the waiting room and exam room bring back so many mixed feelings! I was there so many times from the high in 2011 with my FFS to the low in 2013 with my in-office revision surgery that did not go according to the written or verbal plans and no follow up was allowed or explanation provided.

But I suppose with so many success stories, a few us older patients can be written off. The article does say that many who transition in their 40s or 50s do not pass well. But my positive experiences can be partially attributed to the excellent FFS I received and the negative I'm still experiencing can be partially attributed to the incomplete promises that were made regarding assuring results of my GCS (too many to list here, but include the shape of the pubic area that can be seen through clothes and another leads to mistaking my urethra for my vagina--a painful mistake!, etc.). So I wonder, is the future of TS surgery going to be ageist???

Hello, what's the deal with the shape of the pubic area? Having recently underwent SRS. My pubic bone area seems much bigger than before surgery. Does the swellings go down over time or is the permanent look? If so that's not good. I was flat as a board prior to SRS.

Thank you.

I was always told that the swelling would go down, but mine did not and I ended up with a "W" shape rather than a "V" shape. That of course appears to me the same as someone who is "tucking." My surgeon's paperwork even describes how some people do need a follow up labiaplasty with liposuction of the mons area to take care of this problem. I had always planned on having that done. I've considered going to a general plastic surgeon for lipo of that area, but I'm afraid the lipo tube might be accidentally rammed into some nerve tissue that is folded up inside of me if I go to someone who is not familiar with my particular anatomy in that specific region. I hope you have better luck. You should wait at least 6 months or more to see how it changes for you though.

Tony Perkin's FRC just put out an email entitled "A Boone for Transgenderism?" wherein they not only play word games with Kat's last name, but they persistently misgender her and totally misrepresent the story as written by the NY Times. If you want to take the time to see the faulty arguments being passed on to the FRC subscribers, they have a position paper called "Understanding and Responding to the Transgender Movement" here: downloads.frc.org/EF/EF15F45.pdf
