Using Coconut Oil for Dilation

Hello Everyone, as a result of reading how some post operative girls use coconut oil to dilate, I decided to give it a try.

Underwent SRS a few weeks ago and was having trouble getting the dilator in, once in it would get stuck! Not good, could you imagine having to call 911 for that!

I had tried 3 brands of lube. Astroglide worked best but still a sticky situation.

Now using coconut oil with awesome results. Slides in like butter and leaves me with a most satisfied feeling. TMI?

Anyone else use this oil for dilation or

intercourse? Any other ideas?

Thank you,

Anne

Sorry you endured the humiliation you describe calling 911. I can only imagine how embarrassing that was.

As to the use of coconut oil, i would certainly talk to your doctor.

Hugs,

Charlize

Clarification: I did not call 911. But sure was wondered how I was getting to the hospital if this plastic stiffy did not break free!

Really folks, what do you use for lube in order to dilate?

I always used baby oil gel, sometimes with coconut and vitamin E. I like the gel because it stays pretty much where you want it.

For me, it was two against one in the doctor department on the coconut oil. A yeast infection that I had at week three was really making life painful. Marci and her office told me to ONLY use the most generic water soluble gel lube and to get over to my gynecologist for a full diagnosis (they had suspected granulation and had gone as far as telephone prescribing a Lidocain gel to use with my lube until the gyno saw me. The Gyno that Kaiser was training to work with Trans* folk was in THE Trans* training when I walked into the office with my referral in hand and one of her un-trained colleagues who had to be called from another office did recommend the coconut oil, but the only stuff I could find was the solid kind that looked like Crisco, and I decided I was not a french fry, and waited in pain until the next Monday (3 days) later when the Gyno saw me. She read the notes and told me to quit using it if I had started. She also diagnosed the yeast problem, and then called Marci directly (with my permission) and the vote against using it was definitely 2 against one because it could have aggravated the infection in a no good way . I have used the Wal Mart Equate brand of Personal Lubricant exclusively except for a few days when I went back east and had to pick some generic CVS lube up when I ran out. When I saw my Gyno a month ago she lifted the ban or other types of Lube, but why mess with success is my feeling. I also have an Estrace cream that I put into the hole every two nights which has helped a lot.

One thing I have learned during dilating is that PANIC can really make it strange, but in my case if I get jazzed, it usually comes shooting out like an ICBM, but I know of others for whom it could do the other. Check with Dr. Sinclair and have him hook you up with a Gynecologist. It has made my life much more comfortable. Here is an earlier post on what I experienced -- Enjoy http://forum.lauras-playground.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=53849

Hi G-A-L-E

I'm using K-Y Liquid Personal Lubricant. It may not be the one you need right now, however. I like it because only a few drops suffice instead of a lot of goop. It can dry out quickly and leave you stuck too. That's happened only a few times, and never anything serious.

I, like Vicky, had a problem with yeast, and wouldn't want to use anything that would provide a nutrient for bugs. But, all of us are different. You may not have this concern. It's good to hear that the coconut oil works well for you. And, congratulations on the surgery and recovery afterwards!

Love, Megan

My GYN recommended coconut oil too, and I thought she was nuts. (see what I did there?)

Anyway, I'd been struggling with finding the right lube for my post-op care, and thought "ok, let's try that". My GYN seemed confident about the pH being just right, or something. I trust her completely. But it didn't work well for me. Too slippery, and I ended up smelling like a salad -- which isn't necessarily bad, since my wife is a vegetarian :o but I digress...

I tried several other over-the-counter products in the pharmacy section of local stores, and things were either too goopy, or too runny for me.

I finally settled on what my GCS surgeon had given me in the first place: Surgilube. For me it's the perfect consistency. It stays on the dilator, and doesn't run out of me like I have a leak somewhere. I do have to reapply a little during dilation, and I put some inside before I start. But this has been my winning combination.

I buy 6 tubes at a time now at my local Medical Supply store. At about $5 per 4.25 oz tube, it's not the cheapest thing out there. And having the manufacturer be named "Savage Laboratories" is a bit odd. The MyKesson brand is equivalent. Just my $0.02.

Another option that I haven't explored is to try several types of lube from my favorite local sex-toy shop. They are awesome (shout out to The Kitten.) The advantage there is they have testers, so I can sample them for runny vs goopy right there in the store with their blessing (and advise!).

Hope that helps! Happy dilating!

For me, definitely the size thing.  I'm 5'4" on a good day, and 100lbs.  I can pass as a teenage boy, but never for my real mid-30s age.  And since my husband looks older than his age, I'm often assumed to be his kid.  Or folks think there's something illegal going on.      Also, my lack of the typical aggressive "masculine" demeanor.  I don't really desire the typical masculine social role, nor could I do it even if I tried really hard.  I'm usually quiet and kind of timid.

I am sorry for your struggles. I cannot empathize, but I can surely sympathize. I wish only the best for you!

No, they are the only provider of services I need an my area. 😑

My size. A lot of guys aren't 5'3" at seventeen. My hands. It's a less noticeable one, but my hands are very "feminine"? If you know what I mean. My voice. Very high-pitched. I don't just sound like a female, I sound like a little girl sometimes My chest. I've had to stop binding due to frequent aches doing so, and it's not nearly small enough to just cover with baggy clothes My family. They still call me she/her, so that's an automatic out. My anxiety. I might be able to pass better if I had the courage to correct people. Instead, I'm too scared to speak up, so I find it hard. My lack of men's clothes.   Anyone else have these problems, or other ones?

From what I have read and heard most people are so.busy with their everyday lives and either looking at their phones or in a hurry to notice you out and about.

This exactly ^^^   I actually really liked games where I was required to play a male character. It felt homey, in a way.

Yes, our little town is having its 3rd annual Pridefest. I've volunteered the first two years  from setup to tear down (though I do take an hour off to eat and drink in the middle).     Then I attend a bigger one a couple towns over that has had some decent entertainment from some semi-famous folks (Laura Benanti, Patrick Wilson, Carmen Carrera, Judy Gold, etc).    This year I made sure to ask off of (weekend) shifts to attend a 3rd one where a group I'm in is in the parade.

Hi Vicky, I agree with you, so far since the time I've been under the new treating doctor's care, she prescribed me medication, but it's for children lol  luckily  my pharmacy warned me from a phone call not to take the medication.

Welcome to the party, M.A.     Sounds chaotic haha, I can confidently say that living with only two children the same age is stressful enough, much less three!
