Today, I'm in the lovely city of Blacksburg SC and since I had the time, I thought I would go inside at Denny's and try to eat healthy. (side note, this lasted until dessert, but I digress). As I'm sitting in my booth, I hear a voice behind me.

"Miss?"

"Miss?"

I figure the guy behind me is trying to get the attention of the waitress, so I ignore it because I didn't think it applied to me.

"Excuse me, Miss?"

I turn around and to see a truck driver working on his log book.

"What city is this, is it's Blackburg or Blacksburg?" he asks.

"It's Blacksburg." I respond.

"Oh I'm sorry, I thought you were a woman." he replies.

"I am." I quip.

"I'm sorry?"

"I am a woman."

..then I looked at him like he was an idiot.

"It's Blacksburg, with an S"

Then I turned around and went back into my own little world.

Way to keep your cool. I think he might have been wearing my water. Rude and stupid but i would think hurtful as well.

There are times when simply correcting mistakes like that takes poise and self possession.

I would have responded with something like 'do you realise how insulting that was and to think I was going to help you - go look it up'.

Right? I mean he saw the long hair, he saw the tank top with the bra straps, I mean come on!

It was probably the voice. Then again I talked with a security guard who looked like she could have been Elvira and her voice was deeper than mine. She was absolutely lovely to talk with though! I enjoyed our brief exchange very much.
