Being Forced Into Benching 95

Okay, so I'm at the fire hall. I go upstairs and sit down, and several other juniors are messin around lifting. "Ray wanna come lift with us" "Erm... Okay..." So I go over. They put weight on a bar that equals out a grand total of 95lbs. "Hey ray wanna try lifting this?" "Erm... okay sure" So with 2-3 people spotting me I'm pretty much forced into lifting 95lbs. Then I went down to around the average I can lift (with 1/2 decent amount of reps) 65 POUNDS!!! >_> and had to do several sets. Now my shoulders are sore as heck. YAY... At least the one kid, Ryan, was being nice. One of the Juniors, who wasn't even lifting came up and was harassing me. He's really against me being trans, and he asked how much I could lift, and Ryan said "Oh I bet some were around 95lbs" Which is more than the kid that was saying stuff could. That shut him up. I'm getting a bed room that is... huge... and I'm gonna put my weights in there, instead of the weight room I was gonna have. It'll allow me to lift more, and the boys mom, the one that was being a butt head, has my cell phone number (and I hers) So I'm gonna see about coming down every now and then and hang out with them. And THEN after I can bench 100lbs I'm gonna rub it in his face xP BWAHAHAHAHA!

That's cool about the new room, but take it slow with the weights, Lewis. You don't want to injure yourself by trying to do too much too fast. 30 pounds is a lot to increase at once. I hurt my shoulder four years ago playing hurling and I'm still doing physical therapy every day. Trust me, you don't want to have to do this every day. Not fun. Besides, if you get injured, you won't be able to lift at all, and it'd most likely interfere with you being a junior firefighter.

Lewis - I agree your new room is cool, but be very careful with the weights. You don't want to be overdoing it with too much weight. Were you bench pressing? Overhead lifts? Military press?

You could easily damage your shoulder and not really know it. At your age you heal fast and it's easy to ignore symptoms that could mean a serious injury. It might take a while for it to show up but believe me, it will, and it could have a huge impact on your physical abilities later on in life. It happened to me and my shoulder. Take it from a genetic boy - don't let testosterone override your good sense.

Take a line from Dirty Harry - the most macho cop ever on the screen. "A man's got to know his limitations".

Lewis be really careful when lifting and take gradual increases, say about 5lbs at a time. If you try to do too much to quickly you could do yourself some serious damage that is sometime irreversible. Have fun and enjoy the weights, but be careful and safe :)

Lewis Take your time with wthe weights, you could hurt yourself and then you won't be able to work out. B4 I started T I was benching 80lbs andI weighed 120lbs. When I was on T for about 6mos I was benching 165lbs, but tha was because I was in the gym 6 days a week and I worked out with three other guys, but I took my time with it.

Any man that judges another by the amount of weights he can lift is an idiot. Who cares??? A man should be judged be his strength of character not by his physical strength. Why should you have to prove yourself to them?

And that is the only true messure of a man or a woman - strength of character!

Very well put Sergei. :)

No one can force you to lift more weights than you know you should - at least not without a gun - do what is right for you and your body - you are in charge!

I haven't been here in ages but anyway.. When I first started lifting weights I was around 12 or so. It takes time to go up in weight, a lot of time. Especially doing bench presses. You can hurt alot more than just your shoulders by over doing it. I started with 50lbs back in the day and after 9 years I can do about 260lbs. But it I feel like it's not enough anymore, I only move up 5-10lbs at a time. Take it easy and make sure you have a good spotter.

Just be careful. When I was back in high school, I tried to bench 125. Now I managed 5 reps, but my shoulder is messed up. It's still messed up 3 years later.

hahaha i think the feeling you get from victory is well worth aching for a week! plus aching is a good thing, it means your muscles are all torn apart and lactic-acid-ized, which is how they build up :D

Yup, Lewis, you don't want to jack up your shoulders. Another thing to consider is that even if your muscles can handle the weight, there's a chance your connective tissues won't. If a ligament tears, you will be in a world of hurt. Look up some weightlifting injury videos on YouTube. Ick!

If you want weight training, remember to eat eat eat. Then add 5 lbs a week. Like others have said, don't strain yourself. Let your body rest as well so that it can repair and make your muscles stronger. Good luck!

My kitty has a litter box, which she uses on occasion.  But she prefers to make me get up to led her out. I could install a "cat door" but I'm afraid it would be used more by the possums and raccoons.  I have had possums in the house more than once - even without one.

Good morning everyone,   It was our first night with our European Boxer and it went well. We got up at 05:30 let him out of the cage and went directly outside to give him a chance to go potty. It has been raining for two days and nights so the grass is soaked and nearly up to his belly. I don’t think he’s ever been outside while it’s raining or wet. I had my rain jacket on and a big brimmed hat as well as rain boots, he just stayed at my feet no matter where we went in the yard. I took him to the previous locations where out daughter’s dog had gone poo, but he just sat at my feet. Once inside and drying him off with a towel. He took a poo right there. So I gathered up his mess, and took him and his poo outside. So right now it’s dog one, trainer zero. Now that the coffee is brewed and I have a cup, he’s chewing on a toy.    Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Strange that I awoke from a dream dreaming about "being able to pee standing up!"   I know that sounds strange from someone AMAB, but intersex issues have always prevented that.    I wonder what made me dream like that? That was a first! 🤔

Morning y'all.    Nearly winter here, but it's a mild climate compared to what most of you experience. Even so, the best way to describe the mornings lately is...nipply! 😁

What I don’t like about the dealer working on my car, yes the put the paper mats on the floor, but why don’t they remove them when they bring my car to me?  And why do they always mess with my radio settings and my electronic dashboard settings?  I get them the way I want them and they seem to want them at factory default.  Leave things like you find them!  Why is that so difficult?  And don’t tell me it’s because the updated the computer! Every time!.  And no I haven’t figured out everything yet on the new car.  I can’t even get my key programmed to move my seat when I get in and out.  It’s supposed to move the seat, the mirrors, the steering wheel and several other things.  My old Eddie Bauer was easy to program but then it only programmed seat location and pedal location.   ok now that we’ve had our rousing knock on cars and dealer mechanics.  What else shall we talk about?  Bras?  Seems like an appropriate subject for most of us.  I have several different types. Two are famous store push-up padded to are more common everyday lightly padded ant one is a no padding no strap slip and the last one is a front close longline no padding.  Now that one supports the theory that I am now a B cup on my own. I’d prefer a C but then I’m not so sure my blouses would still fit without pulling.  Ah the problem we have as women.  And sizes are never ever the same.  Oh I’m a size ??  But men I need a large shirt and 36-30 pants and they always fit.   we can’t buy anything off the rack with confidence it will fit and I hate having to take it home to try one and return what doesn’t fit.   we’ll time to do my hair and leave.   love ya   Willow
