I wonder how many conservatives will recall the same sort of doomsday predictions that were made when the Supreme Court approved same-sex marriages? Kind of like those preachers who predict the "end days." Pretty soon, people stop listening.

“Across societies and throughout history,” Niemeyer wrote, “it has been commonplace and universally accepted to separate public restrooms, locker rooms, and shower facilities on the basis of biological sex in order to address privacy and safety concerns arising from the biological differences between males and females."

The judge needs a history lesson. From Wikipedia: "In the United States, gender-based separation of public restrooms began in the late 19th century as a response to women not having toilets available to them in the workplace." The year was 1887.

And those of us who have lived and worked overseas know well that shared restrooms are the norm in some countries.

Brainless!! Now junk-food cereal box tops can be sent in for degrees in school administration!!

I have changed the diapers on too many little girls to have ANY real desire to know what is inside the diaper or training pants ever again.

Soon shots will be fired on Ft. Sumpter. What a waste of hot air. All because of a trans person wanting to pee like his or her peers.

Hugs,

Is that peers, or "pee-ers?"

So far the broadcast media does not seem to be getting into an uproar over this. I think folks are just getting tired of the antics of NC and Texas and want to move on.

Perhaps Diana Ross said it best:

Set me free why don't cha babe
Let me pee why don't you babe
'Cause you don't really love me
You just keep me hangin' on

and the Lt Governor who apparently doesn't attend school board meetings, doesn't care about low test scores, suddenly cares a whole lot about this bathroom issue.

I think a lot of people are starting to realize, hey, why is this such a big issue all of a sudden? It wasn't a big concern before, but now it is?!

"Protecting the children" is just a clever ruse, but their supporters are totally buying it!

Well, respectfully....As was pointed out in other threads, all this brouhaha is not just about restrooms, fitting-rooms, or locker-rooms. The tenth amendment of the Bill of Rights of the United States of America's Constitution states, "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

I believe that the issues in question, which so divide our citizens, are those to be decided by the individual states. I do not believe that the Federal Government can, according to it's governing constitution, impose it's will onto recalcitrant states through blackmail or other forms of coercion.

Frankly, I do not believe that shots will be fired on the Fort Sumter National Monument, Charlotte, South Carolina (i.e., as alluded to in the afore quoted post). The forthcoming battles will be fought in the courts or through state referendums. I do not believe the will exists to preserve the integrity of the current union of states through violent conflict.

Certainly, my oath ...to protect and defend the United States Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and domestic...", remains in effect, even though I have not worked for a federal agency in many, many years. I believe that I can best continue to fulfill said oath by standing with Texas. Despite my status (or lack of it?) as a post-op male-to-female transsexual, I cannot abandon my state and the vast majority of its citizens. Home and history are not things on which I can turn my back.

Best wishes for happiness, peace, and individual liberty to all...including myself.

.

States rights have their place in our legal system, of course. But the courts have pretty consistently held that when it comes to basic civil rights, basic freedoms, like the right to equal treatment under the law, the Federal government can and must act to preserve such rights for people and groups whose rights are threatened. If it had been left to states to decide whether Jim Crow laws should exist, or segregation should exist, how long do you think it would have taken for Southern states to abandon them? Perhaps they would never have given them up.

States rights have been used as rationale since before the Civil War to ensure that some people don't have the same rights as the majority. I hear the same kind of talk now that I did in the 60's, and I'm old enough to remember.

You're right, Tejana, no states are going to secede from the Union. But we aren't going back to the days of segregation, either, whether it be segregation by race, or by gender identity.

Certainly the states have their rights to do a whole heckuva lot of things, but they essentially have contracts with the Federal Government which say that for agreeing to follow federal standards, they will get operating money. Violation of that contract loses them the Federal Cash. If the Texan's do not need the money, they can break the contract and refuse the money as LGP claims. If you think I believe that, then you have a flawed belief system. The problem is they do not spend the money they get wisely, and have some real problems.

I read yesterday online that the KY Governor is siding with TX on this, although his argument seems to be more from a legal standpoint instead of a Biblical one. Still, Kentucky isn't in great shape education-wise and the money used to fight this (or that he gave to a Noah's Ark theme park) would be better spent towards the kids instead.

As one who had to deal with the Porn/Adult Entertainment business as commercial, taxpaying businesses on a professional level, I can say that they are in it for money and the highest percentage of their income comes from ultra conservative areas where adequate Medical and Mental Health Profession and University Science instruction on Trans issues are banned.    It makes me wonder how much porn literature is hidden behind the 13 Bibles and Bible Study guides on some people's family bookshelves.

Do you ever feel trapped in a body that doesn't feel like yours?

There's the old thing of getting out and getting involved in things in the community and meeting people that way. Does your church have a food pantry? Does it have service opportunities you could plug into otherwise? You might run into someone that way.

Well that didn't go well. She said she is intentionally single. When will I just stop thinking about putting myself out there. It really hurt but rejection and getting ghosted is just my second language apparently. The one person I have told all my dark secrets and didn't run off. At least we are friends. I'm happy only when I'm sleeping and that is it because things actually go my way from time to time. Just another wonderful day of me. SMDH!

In their minds, yes, unless it is clearly, consistently, forcefully articulated by those who represent trans people that we are not.  I'm not sure who that would be.

So, this proves that we're all  pedophiles? I suspect that the majority of pedophiles are probably cis.   Yeah, Alexander the Great was probably queer.  What does this have to do with me needing to pee?   I am so tired of this ___.  I raised 8 kids and never molested any of them - unless you count changing diapers without closing my eyes.  Yeah… so tired.   It makes me wonder what is actually on these people's minds.

Whew! I don't think I want to see that age unless I can still function normally although my family hasn't gotten to live that long. The oldest lived to see 80.

Seen my grandmothers and told them happy Mother's Day.Got them a card. One is 95 and other is 93 that still get around well.Good thing is they love and accept me as a granddaughter.Growing up,they knew something was not right with me.

Well, I told my best and only friend that I liked her and asked if I ever came across her mind, I would make her not regret it. She didn't say no or yes yet. She believes that romance is dead to her, and I understand that due to her knowing her husband for over 20 years. I deleted my dating profile on Facebook and took a screen shot to show her. She is so right for me, and I hope I can be her best decision. I have left her be so she can think about it.

Thanx!  But I am sure there is more that I don't know than what I do! But now I know about using the "@" function to alert people that you mentioned them. And today I learned how to Quote someone so my comment as a bit more context. Still so much to learn.  No sure how long I should keep replying to multiple people all in the same thread where the topic is just "Hello" I understand there are one or two other subjects in this place (besides me ... saying "hello"). I have tried looking through the forums a tiny bit and just got lost!  lol  (Then again, getting lost is kinda my super-power!)
