Where should I get surgery?

I live in Melbourne, Australia, and I was wondering where the best place would be for me to get SRS - in terms of the skill level of surgeons. Should I get it done in Melbourne or go to Seoul, South Korea?

Actually you have a few options all equally good. There are a number of people here on the Playground that have had surgery done in Thailand where there are several very skilled surgeons with excellent results. The only surgery I know about in South Korea is voice surgery, but I also know several VERY happy people who have had that. Your surgeons there in Melbourne also have very good results from what I have heard. A rule of thumb on this is that EVERY Post Op person who is on the spectrum of happy to absolutely ecstatic with their surgery is going to recommend their own surgeon to you, so get ready for that. If they are less than happy, they will recommend almost any other surgeon no matter what they know about them.

Warning --- The skill of any surgeon has to be coupled with the realities of your body!! My own surgeon is probably one of the top five in the world, but even my "surgical sisters" have had problems with healing and appearance that relate to their own unique physiology and to their own post operative care situations. In my case, my age, and being diabetic played a part in the final result, which I am still super happy with, but some would complain about.

Contact several surgeons by E-mail, or their web-site, or if you can via voice or best of all, in person. Here in the U.S. there are conventions where the various doctors give in-person infomercials and you can meet them. That was how I made my decision from a list of 5 possible people, simply, did we click as people and did I feel a sense of trust for them and what they offered.
