sh*t.

well, at least i have something to talk to my shrink about tomorrow.

...i'm not sure what to say to her though.

alright. i'll back up. it started last night. i was on the forums, looking at stuff, and my mom came into the room, so i closed it really quick but i didn't have time to clear the browsing history (which i always do even though i'm not sure she knows how to look at it). anyway, she had to use it so i got off, and waited for her to go back to bed (it was late, and she couldn't sleep so was getting some crosswords...). so then she gets off, and i looked through the history and there was a google search of 'laura's playground' after all my forum history. so i kinda freaked out (internally)...so today i was waiting to see how she was acting (she never says stuff to my face, always just hints sideways..).

then when my dad gets home from work (i guess she had to talk to him first) she said to me in passing that she's ok with sharing the computer but doesn't want me looking at "certain things" on it.....i was like "ok.." and walked into my room as fast as i could.....so...not sure what she thinks this site is...but...weird.

Hey NobleLight,

If you are confronted by your parents about visiting Laura's playground then just show them the main page of Laura's site. In very big red bold letters it clearly says that this site is not "cyber sex" etc. For me, that was a very big reason why I joined, becuase I knew that this site was for real!!

Once you show them, then at once they will know that Laura's site is good, and informative, and they will also know now that you are serious!!

LOL

You don't have to be out to look at a G-rated site (Laura says PG-13 - hee hee -worked that in!).

The Angie Zapata news site - I wish ALL those stupid, prejudiced airheads could see what goes on at Laura's. The problem is the word 'Playground" can sound a little like a porn site.

Let her look at the site, if you have to. It's okay - may help you open up to her later...

My Opinion

Well, Google says, "Lauras Playground is the only Personal Support Site source for transsexuals, transgender and crossdressers We offer Forums, Email and Live Chat support." So I don't think she would call it a porn site. Sounds more like a support site..

So she might know, but if she does, well, it makes telling her a whole lot easier...

I hope everything works out :)

I have something to add. I'm not trying to advertise, but there's a web browser called Google Chrome. I think it's a little weird, but it has a nice feature called Incognito Mode. When you're using that mode, it opens up a new window, and it doesn't save the history, cache, or cookies of any site that you go to in that window. Kinda nice huh?

You may be able to get it and tell your mom you think it's cool. She probably won't figure out why you got it :P

I don't use Chrome as my normal browser, I normally use Firefox. So I keep a fullsized window of Firefox up for my normal browsing, and smaller Chrome Incognito window open for using here. When someone walks by, I can minimize the Chrome window, and it looks like I'm still doing something! And when I'm done, there's no history left behind, but there is my normal history, so it doesn't look like I'm hiding something.

You might want to try it.

she probably wouldn't even notice if i downloaded it...but i think i'm just going to have to buy a new computer of my own (i had one that i bought about 1 1/2 yrs ago, but it died about 2 months ago....what a rip off...)

i just hope she forgets about it....

chrome has a history file too.. as do most browsers. Somebody like me could have a delve in the computer you use and find history and login details going back to the time the operating system was installed.. all of it. I don't trust chrome for other reasons which I will not go into.. I won't use it.

The only way to be 100% secure with browsing history is to use a different operating system run live from a pendrive or cd.. and to take it with you..a reboot and remove the disk or stick and it's all gone.. use both together and it's double secure.. a stick for your data and history.. a cd for a clean unalterable operating system.. no spyware.. no malware.. no invasion of privacy or history by family members. :)

This is what I use on works machines and away from home to protect my privacy from others.. http://www.puppylinux.org/

i was planning on getting linux on a new computer (if i get one..money is an issue right now..)

but i think my dad would notice if another operating system was on the computer. i can use my sister's computer, but then there are time constraints...cuz it's hers so she gets it when she wants it.

anyway thanks for the advice and sympathy. hopefully it won't be an issue again.

Chrome does have a file history, but the Incognito mode doesn't keep a history. So that's the sweet spot. The point isn't to keep out the FBI. It should work fine.

I have had my mom walkin my room as well while I was on the forums but every time I have had luck in minimizing it before she could see it, I also have to other things running so I can bring one up if I needed to and she wouldn't even know. I don't have to worry about my mom going on my computer and finding anything because she is computer illiterate, my brother on the other hand did find stuff and it didn't seem to phase him. I am also not out to any one in my family except my brother.

A little bit off topic, but you can use a build in function of Firefox to clear everything.

The browsing, download, search history, saved form, cache, cookies, offline website data, saved passwords and authenticated sessions.

click on "Tools" and then on "Clear Private Data". To change the settings do the following:

Tools>Options>Privacy here you can change the settings for "Private Data" and you can choose "Always clear my private data when I close Firefox".

I hope I have translated everything correctly.

that helps a bit, but i can't have it clear all cuz my mom has saved passwords, etc...i did change some of the settings though.

I sneaked in my mother's room and tried a bra or two of hers before I went full-time. Being flat-chested they never fit right, so it made me a bit down (it wasn't sexual, I was curious). She noticed at the time, but didn't mention it until I did.

clearing local browser history looks fine in principle.. try running a forensic registry cleaner.. because I have on machines which have supposedly been completely cleaned with a reformat and reinstall of the operating system,.. and I found site info including which sites were visited and what images etc were cached up to 4 years previously.. That takes a fair amount of skill.. but it's easily possible for anybody determined enough.. It's called forensic data and information recovery and the way I use it to have a snoop relies in a flaw in windoze.. everything leaves information in the registry.. The only way to make a hard drive completely secure for disposal or whatever is to physically break it or totally overwrite it 3 or 4 times.

People seem to be under the impression that you HAVE to install an operating system.. nothing is further from the truth.. Puppy runs straight from the cd and doesn't touch anything on the pc drive unless you tell it to.. One of my other uses for live linux disks are to evaluate hardware when the hdd or operating system has died to see if they are worth repairing... or machines during build to test other components like sound and graphics cards on the fly with no hdd fitted... XD

On the subject of stealth browsing, the new MSIE8 has a similar mode.

If that happens, a lot of things I don't want to see might also be codified into law.  And some things that shouldn't be law might not get repealed.  To me, progress in one area isn't worth the price we'd have to pay in several other areas.     For me, voting on LGBTQ issues always ends up as an "out of the frying pan, but into the fire" sort of event.

Thea, your post made me think of a comic named Chloe Petts whom I saw recently on Hannah Gadsby's Gender Agenda comedy special on Netflix. She is a cisgender masculine lesbian. She is brilliant and so funny. I was intrigued by her identification - specifically masculine, not butch. And it seems to me there is a difference.

Today I had a dr appt. When I checked in, I was asked my surname, which I gave. Apparently there were two patients with appointments at that time with that same surname. The receptionist asked, "Are you (my legal name which is feminine) or Paul?" I got such a kick out of it not being assumed I had the feminine name.
    • Vidanjali
That must have felt affirming, albeit perhaps weirdly so. However, I'd construe that more broadly (no pun intended) as sexism rather than misogyny where the latter would imply contempt. Also, incidentally, I've heard chivalry referred to as "benevolent sexism".

My boss is in a panic. His business is a couple straws away from breaking a camel in half. He's just handling the stress very poorly.   My dad, though. He's handling things pretty well, as long as I continue to don't get massively offended by being called: son, boy, etc. His eldest is leaving the State and looks so different than he's been used to over the years. I haven't told him I'm on HRT, but to be fair the changes haven't been massive. I've always had boobs, more so after COVID weight gain and made more obvious with its loss, but now I'm not hiding them--and obviously wearing a bra. The estrogen has done some work, but nothing major (sadly). I think the biggest HRT changes have been my skin and a mild amount of fat redistribution.   Today I'm wearing my cheater, I almost have cleavage! :D I need to get another t-shirt bra to keep a good rotation. I only have two, one push-up, and the rest are unlined (great for Summer, but not great for my Summer wardrobe ).

I eat a ketogenic diet and have had no problems. I don't know about your case but I suspect it is the estrogen. Research the types of ways to take estrogen. Pay close attention to the bloodwork results. If they are not satisfactory, bring it up with your doctor. I take injectables, which are fully covered by insurance. It may not be the route for you, but something to consider. I emphasize to do your research and good luck. You can solve this. Be persistent.    Jennifer

This is my opinion, so take it for that. Fatigue is based more on what you eat. Eat a more healthy diet, and stay away from ultra-processed foods and that should help. Think of eating the way we did a couple hundred years ago before the industrial revolution. It's just a thought.   Jennifer

I like the fact that you found support and have close members of your life. That is very important. No matter where you are on your journey, you have to have the support. Or you drift, and you question yourself.    Looking forward to your progress,   Jennifer
