The NYC Human Rights commission "approved" a list of 31 genders.

The list includes (a complete list is not provided that I saw):

"drag king," "drag queen," "butch," "femme queen," "gender fluid," "gender blender," "gender gifted," "gender bender," and "femme person of transgender experience.".

Article says:

"Individuals have the right to follow dress codes and grooming standards consistent with their gender identity expression".

and

New Yorkers may also use the bathroom or locker room of their choice based on their "gender identity," without having to show proof or documentation.

I thought "gender blender" was a new product from General Electric.

When I teach TG Awareness, I stick to the basics. If I'm confused by all this, imagine how a non-trans person will feel.

I have seen many different ways people express their gender and the use of various words to describe those expressions. Unfortunately those same words are often used in a derogatory fashion. The fact is they are just words describing various trans* folks. Trans* in my mind at least being the expression of non cis gendered folks. I am a transgender female, but also trans*.

Perhaps the important thing about this recognition of the variety is not the words but the acceptance of fellow humans regardless of how they describe themselves or might be described.

I have begun to meet young folks who are definitely not what i am in the gender spectrum. They are difficult for me to understand at times but then again so are cis gendered folks. i spent years trying to fit that round hole with this old square peg.

I certainly can't explain others. i'm hard enough to explain as it is.
