Am I the only one who has to put a skirt on sideways?

I can never get the hook and eye closure of a skirt fastened when the skirt's facing forward and I can't see what I'm doing. Consequently, I always have to put on a skirt rotated 90 degrees and then straighten it out. Am I the only one to have to do this, or is there some trick to closing a skirt when it's right ways round?

I have seen cis women do exactly the same. I have also seen them put a bra on back to front and then rotate it around the body to the correct position. It's not unusual. I have problems with some bras. With skirts, most of mine have stretch waistbands and no clips. The ones that I have are side fastening so fairly easy. They are maybe made that way for that very reason.

That is usually how i put on my skirts as well as my bra. One exception was recently with an old skirt i've grown a bit large in the waist to turn easily. I managed to button it in the back but it wasn't easy.

All my jean skirts button in the front an has a zipper :) My maxi skirt is pull on ... My bras are easy to hook in the back and sometimes they are not that easy I have to hook them in front and turn them around,,,

As a note, that's the difference between ladies and women's clothes. Ladies clothes most often buttons, ties or zips in the back and one most often needs the help of a maid or other person. Most very high end establishments still have attendants on call. Most lower class women wore and still do clothes that buttons from the front, side or is easy to do in the back. Downton Abby is an accurate example of the clothing of the classes and the changes during and after the Great War. I have pictures of Victorian crossdressers wearing corsets and 5 petticoats plus bussle. Imagine getting into that!

To me the hook and eye are a total pain and totally useless. I just make sure the zipper is pulled all the way up, and have never had a problem. My other grump with hook and eye is that I have some lace tops that get caught in the hook as I am putting the top, or skirt on.

What I've found very helpful with bras is to take a table knife and pry open the hooks a bit. Before I did that, I couldn't do bras at all, but now that I do, I really don't have much trouble.

I saw this concert in which it is said that the famous phrase of Jon Landau "I saw the future of rock and roll and his name is Bruce Springsteen" comes from that night. By the way Bruce opened for Bonnie Raitt that night and she was the better performer . . . just sayin'.

Astronomy and astrophotography.  I have done a few public presentations on the subject and could most likely wing it for an hour without putting you to sleep.   On the other hand if you need a sleeping pill, I could also talk for an hour about flying and you'd be out cold.

Please consider joining us, even if it's just for a few minutes to see what the meetings are like. I've learned so much, had so much fun and gained confidence in myself just by being a part of this amazing group of people. It's a low key, no pressure, non-judgmental chance to just be among people who are supportive, understanding and affirming of each other.    I'm travelling out of state and still planning on dropping in for awhile.    Come see what it's like!!

Thank you, Susan!! It was such an amazing experience for me. I can't remember if I even talked about it on a Zoom meeting.   Here is the link to the post I made about it. And, again, thank you for helping to give me the courage to do it.

Good morning coffees   This probably doesn’t exactly apply to me because you wouldn’t have found a more shy and conservative person than me.  I was perhaps less shy before my sister started complaining about me doing things that were hers to do. And I would become embarrassed and that was the end of that.   upstairs unit got their typical weekend visitors in the middle of the night last night.  They woke me up.  They have little consideration for being in a condo community and the neighbors being in such close proximity.   @awkward-yet-sweet , how goes the job with your husband’s boss?  I don’t recall you saying much about it this week, but I could have missed a post along the way.  If I recall you were supposed to meet with him last Monday.   @KymmieL I hope you are feeling better.     Yes, I find it to be wrong that just because a car part says Ford or Chevrolet on the box that same part with Lincoln or Cadillac on the box cost a lot.more.  I know there are differences in the upscale brands such as the engine and drivetrain in the Caddy and of course the interior fit and finish.  But it’s the same body with things crammed in the same way under the hood.     well, time to finish my coffee, fix my hair and made my way across the street to work.    willow

I read about her this morning. What a shame! She was beautiful and it seems she had a strong support system in place and could have had a wonderful life all to have it end like this. Such a waste. I truly hope the monster that killed her gets everything he deserves.
