Changing My Look

Being a middle age lady,

I had a bit of grey at the temples and scattered thoughout my scalp.

Had been thinking of dying my hair for the last six months,the grey had to go.

It started two weeks ago with a change in style.I went from mid back length

locks,to just at my shoulders.Cute and bouncy and easy to maintain.

Finding a stylist I could trust took me some time.Then I remembered ChristyLee.

She is a looong time post op,and friend,whom owns her own styling salon,that caters

to TS's,and all gender varient folks in my community.

My stylist is another long time TS.Topaz is her name.She and I connected immediately.

It is nice to have a beauty salon,where I can be myself and be welcomed as just another

female customer.I made my first coloring appointment for a week ago Tuesday.Ahh but

a hurricane had made land fall,dropping inches of rain on the day of my appointment.

Being a vehicleless lady,public transportation is my mode of transport.There was no way,

I would be spending my cash,just to have all the color washed out on the day it was done.

Sooooo,I reset my appointment for yesterday.My oldest,(my biggest support),called me up

wanting to drop by,have me take her to breakfast,and visit for awhile.She got to see me

do my hair,(in my bra and undies)apply my makeup,choose my dressing style for the day.

Talking to me, like it was the most normal thing in the world,to see her dad getting prettified.

And my wonderful daughter took me to my appointment.I know it freaked her out to see I

was really getting a dye job,and the salon I had chosen to do it for me.I went with Auburn.

Being a lady,I had decided to exercise a woman's perogative,and change the color completely.

Auburn being my favorite color of red,I could see myself as a redhead.I Love It.And felt so

pretty on leaving the shop.I was dying to show my new look to someone,and I was invited to

my guys place,so someone could see the change in look.His girlfriend even complimented me

on the change,saying the color goes well with my skin tone. Wait until my ex and daughters see,

they are dying to get a gander at the very different me.

Each step of this journey has happened like it was scripted.As I become comfortable at one

stage,I decide to push my limits a wee bit futher,growing more into my role each day.

I love being a woman.Hardly remember the man I was>(he)is fast fading,as few knew the

old me at all.A new life,a new start,a new me.Embraced with great joy.
