Happy being me! 5 mos. FT

Hi, I wanted to check in to say hello and let you all know that I'm doing well.  It's been 5 months or so since I went FT and it has been a bumpy ride, especially with work and with some family members.  I wanted to share with others whom might be at a place trying to decide about whether to proceed with transition this: one of my advantages (I feel), going in, was that I have always been able to be happy, even though I have felt somewhat isolated or alone. I am  not certain if this was because of my gender identity or if this is just me. And while I am blessed that I have the support of some of the people who matter most to me, I have suffered setbacks with others.  So if you are at the point of "jumping off", I would tell you that my experience has been that it is so very worth it, but your relationships will change and while you may need to let go of some people, for now, many relationship may become much better once you are you!   There is a whole new world of people and relationships out there, people you have not yet met or perhaps  met recently as you have begun your journey.  Be open to new people.  I wish you all the best!

Thank you for that wonderful update.  I certainly have noticed a few bumps as well and the changes in relationships are at times difficult to understand or deal with but i've also found great new friendships and am happier than i have ever been.

Congratulations, Jamie, and thanks for the update. I will probably be going FT within the next year and it's good to hear your experience. 

Just curious, what's been hardest about the work transition? That's the one I'm most worried about even though I work in a fairly open environment.

Congratulations Jamie! Very nice to hear.

My experience so far is that quite a few people do seem initially shocked but most come to relax with the idea in time. My opinion on work is that it really does depend a lot on the organisation you are working for, besides what the job is and other workers.

Thanks for the update.  I agree that the first few months of FT can be somewhat bumpy.  At least they were for me.  I no longer have to deal with work relationships beyond those that I kept in retirement and they are definitely in my camp.  I believe the biggest positive point that I can attest to is feeling so good about myself.  It's obvious to me you feel good as well.  In your photos you look beautiful!

Thanks for the update Jamie, and congrats on five months of full time.  Time flies sometimes, I went FT almost two years ago.  Things do smooth out over time.

I went full time in May (including work), was almost full time since last December. I've never been happier---and time goes by pretty quickly. I've made dozens of new friends, and still have my old ones.I don't think my weekends had one open day this last month!!
