i called them to ask why they keep spelling my name wrong and sending me statements that my insurance could not be processed due to the name dose not exist...

& the whole time i spoken with the person on the phone they kept calling me by my OLD NAME and calling me Sir even though they are fully aware of who & what i am, and said we cant call you by any other name but whats listed on your I.S.U.R.A.N.C.E - C.A.R.D

i did not go through this 2 years of Transition and HRT and stand in front of a court room and a Judge to say hey look i am Transgender i am a boy who wants to be a girl.... just to get my Name and Gender Legally Changed!

Even though the Events of my COurt Hearing did not happen at all in that order of events.... i did not have to say a word... lol and by teh time the Judge called me BACK up to the front using his eyes... not words the room only had the typing person, the clerk and a lawyer i think?....

but i did not go though all this crap to go dressed up as my self in a Dress to have them call me up as my OLD name....

basically ... *OUTING ME TO THE ROOM FULL OF STRANGERS ITS A MAN IN A DRESS?.....

i have had my Birth Paper Changed, My Social Security Card, My DMV Card and i got a court order but i cant seem to get the insurance changed cuz i have no clue where?

- so the dr office dose not wanna work with me

Every State has an Insurance Regulatory Commission, they should be listed under State Offices.  Find their contact information and they can tell you how to get your name changed.

I hope that helps,

Sally

Wow!  That's a dandy HIPPA violation. There are medical rating web sites for doctors and medical offices. I would expose their bad practices to the public. I hope you have other doctors available as an option before you do that.

A bad doctor will not become a good doctor by a directive from an insurance carrier. If they want to engage in covert discrimination they might reconsider if they publicly look inept,  incompetent or threat of punitive action. Be careful and think it through so it does not become a quagmire for you.  LGBTQ groups can also help,  most have legal services available. Hope this helps.

Good advice from my friends above.

By doing these things, this sends a message that the practice and DR office really cares more about money than people, perhaps it's time to find another health provider ? This sounds like you reached a transphobic donkey butt that works there. Don't play into their enjoyment, there are people out there that do this sort of thing out of spite for trans people. Remember it's only words, how you react to it is another matter.

Call your insurance help line, you probably have to send them/fax a copy of name change / gender change records, so they can update your policy. A new year is approaching, a good time to make sure next year's contract is updated with your current info. If you get your insurance through your employer, go to them to make sure the records get straightened out, that's how I fixed my medical insurance through my employer. Now I receive reminders for my mammogram and cervical exams from them, and health bulletins for women

Hang in there

As to your insurance, if it is provided via your employer you can update it through them (that was the case with my insurer Kaiser). But they are particularly good in handling transfolk.  If it is your own, you need to contact them and update it.If it is a private practice, bring the fact that his/her front office is doing this. The doctor may not realize this is going on. If it is a larger medical group (like Kaiser, complain to the person higher up or get in contact with one of their staff gender therapists (if they have one).

i have the Medicare and The Medical.

- another reason i might be scared to change my insurance and its gender status is i keep hearing that later down the road if i need MALE Surgeries or Help, i would have to pay out of pocket since i am now a Female.

If it is any help to you i also have medicare as a slightly older woman.  You should definitely get your card changed.  While the government's system of understanding gender isn't perfect i did notice that during a recent medicare physical i was asked to choose amongst a large # of choices regarding gender and sexuality.  I seriously doubt that you would have any problems getting "male surgeries or help".  You might actually enjoy being asked when your last period was prior to a prostrate check.

Male surgery would be covered as an organisational determination.  Generally nothing would be written in the policy language. That means you would not be denied male procedures out of hand.  It would just mean there are a few more steps. In less you know you are very high risk for a male problem,  it would only be passing conversation with your doctor.  They know the ins and outs better than us.

Have you had a legal name change?  Sorry that was unclear to me.

Insurance card change should be contacting Medicare and then if they don't send an update automatically, request a "duplicate" cause you lost it.

I got a good laugh at that when I went to the OBGYN for a breast exam. My response to the nurse was was yeah there was a bit of a story to that.

i think i might have taken care of that dr office so far, i showed them a few articles from the Transgender Law Center how on July 18 2016 new laws changed that they have to call you by your new name and gander & so on if i even read it right yikes

also pointed out how people won and sued hospitals over calling them Female names when they are Female to male and won, it is a triger and traumatizing & she qucikly went to correct everything on her computer

she said the insruance will stay the same but all other info such as over the phone and walk ins will be Female not sir

i also told her i dont wanna come in a Dress and your nurse comes out and says MR. SO and so... we will see you know you can see how that will effect someone like me....

it leaves scars.... and its damaging

That sounds like real progress.  It was absolutely lovely when my new card came in and i was able to give it to the doctors office.  I can certainly understand the hurt you feel by being misgendered especially in the waiting room.  Ouch.  I remember that feeling quite well as well as the joy of having it finally right.  My worst experience was actually at the social security office.  The waiting room was packed as i put my SS# into the kiosk.  I waited as some went and more arrived.  Then i heard "Charles........Charles".  I got up and walked toward the door where i young woman stood waiting.  Once more in obvious frustration she yelled "Charles".  I was close enough that she should have seen me but didn't expect a woman.  When i pointed at my self she apologized and i felt so relieved to have the door close behind me.  The actual procedure was quick and easy.  I have no regrets but i'll never forget the waiting room.

"Exstatic" is an adjective that means feeling great rapture or delight. For example, "His wife gave birth to their first child, and he was ecstatic about it". Synonyms of "ecstatic" include rapturous, entranced, enthusiastic, and frenzied.

Absolutely. Being able to encourage, to help, others is so empowering. I've been helped by so many people over the years, I love being able to pay it forward.

Good morning, everyone!!   A busy day ahead for me - need to cut the grass and then pick up the clippings. The grass grows so quickly this time of year. I cut almost 7 acres so that will take up most of my day. At least I can get some sun on my legs and arms!!   Time for another cup of coffee as I catch up here.   Enjoy this beautiful day we've been given.

I started shaving my legs years ago - I started getting an occasional mild contact rash on my shins. That became my excuse to shave them for both me and my wife. Over time, the rash didn't expand...but my shaving did. Full legs....groin......chest......and finally my arms. Keeping the rash at bay was my excuse until I came out to my wife. Now I typically do a full shave on Sunday mornings. The hair is lighter but I just feel better with it gone - it helps with the dysphoria and dysmorphia. I will also typically do a chest touch-up mid week since I notice the growth more there.   I wish someone would invent a pill that would stop hair growth everywhere except on your head.

Good morning.   im not sure where the time went.  I had a decent nights sleep,  didn’t  tell Alexa to let me sleep another 5 minutes,  I didn’t do anything extra but it’s almost time to leave and I just got here.  Definitely only a one cup morning.    I have the overhead console out of the Ford. It needed some repairs with toothpicks and glue.  Been sitting all night t for the glue to harden. I’m always to impatient with glue but not this time.  I want it to hold. Ok the next owner won’t be able to change the lightbulbs however in my defense, the are led so they will likely still work when the car goes to the salvage yard.   gotta go. Not as much on my plate at work today but it’s always busy.   Willow

Yes, my programmer friends and I think that antivirus software is a virus.  It's constantly searching your system and slowing it down.  If you install your own OS and software on your machine, and you make backups of your personal files, then you can recover from viruses in an hour or two.  My computer is 10+ years old and is working as good as the first day I had it.   As long as my computer is doing what I want it to do, I don't care if someone is spying on my system.

If you get a ticket, always say not guilty and go to court. Much of the time, the officer will not show up, and often the district attorney or the judge will not want to take the time. They ticket harvest because most people just agree to the fine and send them a check by mail.   If you are not a commercial driver, Most states also have a ticket forgiveness program. You take a little easy Driver's Ed Course, and it doesn't go on your record or increase your insurance prices. Explore your options!

Shaving my legs (very early on) was the first BIG STEP in my self-affirmation.  It also felt Real and Natural ... Finally (after all my years with fairly hairy legs). My wife was shocked but I think she thought it was 'OK' as long as didn't go any farther ... well that wasn't going to happen.  It was actually Step 1 of many to follow.  I did feel the need to hide it from others but eventually didn't care.  And, men shaving their legs is much more common these days. Home IPL (laser) made the hair removal permanent over the course of a year or so.  Whatever was leftover has been reduced to peach-fuzz by HRT. I don't deny or reject all my years living in the realm of cis-males ... it was part of my Journey to get to where I am today.  But since committing to HRT and living in an environment and community that supports my transition, I find it difficult to go back into Boy-mode.  The times that I do have to do that ... I can feel the dysphoria rising up again.  No going back ... at this point.
