Hair Removal

Has anybody had any experience with threading? I was reading an article that said that hair removal this way was much less painful then wax, and much cheaper then electrolysis, while giving a decent lasting effect. One article said that you could go 2-3 weeks in between threads, another said 4-6 weeks and that the hair will come back in finer, making future threads easier. I was thinking this could be a good start for at least cleaning off my face until I can start to afford to do something more permanent, but want some advice before I start to look deeply. I found a groupon for a full face thread for only $20 and it's very tempting.

Yes, and it hurts. I keep hearing "you get used to it", I've done it about a dozen times and I'm still waiting. LOL

However, Most have a terrible time finding someone that doesn't screw it up. :/

Generally between $8-15. Some of them let you join for so much time, for a certain amount, and get unlimited threading.

Happy brows!!

I have done both threading and waxing on my eyebrows, and it is a toss-up as to the length of time it will be effective.

HUGE MEGA COLOSSAL WARNING -- Do not try EITHER on extensive parts of your beard hair if you have not been on HRT for many years.  The ads you see are for women's facial hair, NOT BEARDS.   Beard hair is more deeply rooted and much more prone to serious infection.  At one time a member here showed pictures of their face after they had disregarded our warning and we had to take the pictures down as being much too disturbing. <They literally looked like a fire victim>. Save even the small change that either waxing or threading on your face on your full face for the Laser or Electrolysis that will really work if you want truly long term facial hair removal.

The issue with threading is the hair is being pulled out and the hair follicle is not killed.  Another hair grows in its place.  And yes, beard hair grows much deeper than brow hair.

Yeah, just like waxing, all temporary.....

I consider threading to only be another option instead of waxing or tweezing, nothing else. It's just to make your brows look great until the hairs start growing in again. I wouldn't have it done anywhere else on my face.

...and it hurts.

Can anyone tell me (should I be bale to afford it and find time during a working day to have it done) how long  the effects of a treatment show (electrolysis or laser) - do you have redness (or anything else) for hours/days - would it go down in time to go home after a days work?

While I'm starting in a couple weeks, the people I've seen and talk to, absolutely. Red, swollen, sore. And it depends on the skin sensitivity and how long the appt.

Immediately following laser, your face is going to be very hot, and a good laser tech shouldn't allow you to leave until your face has cooled off with some ice packs. After a few sessions, I began bringing some aloe vera sunburn gel that I had kept in the refrigerator with me. That seemed to help, as well. There will be redness for a few hours, absolutely.

With electrolysis, your face will have red bumps wherever the tech was working on you, and that also takes a little bit of time to dissipate.

As far as how long it will take for the redness to go away, I think it varies. I think the recovery time from laser, at least for me, took longer than electrolysis.

Then there's also the pre-appointment prep, where it's recommended you cover the areas that will be worked on with a heavy layer of Emla cream about an hour before your appointment, and then reapply more when it's getting closer to your appointment time. I've heard some recommend wrapping plastic wrap around the area (and poke a hole for your mouth) because exposure to air weakens the effect of the Emla cream. Also taking something to dull the pain I hear helps.

I think there are different types of laser treatments. I just last Thursday finished my 5th treatment of 24 full body this one was on my face it was not bad she uses a gel like for sonograms which keeps it cool and slick. It can be red for a while and you can get bumps but I have been lucky so far and not had this happen. It did look like my legs had a suntan for a few days it may not have been noticeable except the lower legs were not treated and were lighter in color. I am pleased so far but it only works on dark hair white or blond is not affected much or at all.

Other than the Boy Scout motto, oath, and law. I use two:   When asked how I'm doing? In all honesty I reply. I would have to make something up to complain. If asked to explain further: I reply. I know someone is having a tougher time than I am, and I pray God blesses them.   I also recite this quote that I have tagged in my signature: Courage, doesn't always roar. Sometimes it's the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow."-Unknown    Saying these things daily keep me motivated.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

If this goes on, I am conceding the real possibility of being stopped in WM or somewhere by a concerned citizen who tells me, "Lady, God made you female.  I don't think you should be trying to look like a man. You need to return to your true gender and be comfortable living your life out as a woman."   Begin odd and awkward conversation.  I have been thinking about this this morning.

There are many MAGA GOP types who are not transphobes, of course. Some MAGA GOP types are transgender.

I'm hoping to read the next section today.  Many of the reforms they are calling for are good, such as expediting the military procurement process, and have nothing to do with transgender issues.

Good afternoon,    I have a young friend who is vegetarian and married to a full on meat eater. They have two areas of their grill clearly designated for their different cooking requirements. When she’s cooking she uses tongs or chopsticks to handle any meats. When he’s cooking he respects her request not to cook her meals on the side where meat has been. They get along fine and respect each other.    When she attends our house, she usually brings her own food, but knows I will clean my grill to meet her requirements. We love and respect her commitment to be vegetarian. I love that she trusts me to make her comfortable when visiting us. There are ways to make it work.    Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

I was going to call it Numbness, then I realised well.. it isn't. basically, yeah, it isn't.   this only happens to me sometimes. I'll be lying down and my legs will.. well, I guess lock?   If I straighten them out, they will unlock- when I roll over again, they will lock again. this lasts for around 10/ 15 minutes I guess   it's not pins and needles either

so, a close friend wants to cook for me   the issue is, she is a vegitarian and won't handle meat- I, on the other hand, won't handle vegetables- hate the things   every time she goes out to the shop, she comes back with something.. a cake, a fruit smoothie, a coffee, I won't eat any of it. please help me think of something that she could make for me that I'll actually eat   disclaimer: you are talking to the most pickiest eater in the world. good luck

I think there is some truth in this.  They intend to implement Project 2025, whether or not he spends his energies persecuting the Democrats who have been persecuting him (in his view, a debatable point) and does nothing else.   I have seen numerous accusations that the document is about "Trumpism", whatever that is, and is merely a vehicle for him to become dictator.  From what I have read so far, that is the same sort of truth as the Steele Dossier, denying the validity of a certain laptop, Schiff's non-existence evidence of collaboration and a host of other things, many directly from Biden, that are simply not true.   I will continue reading it.

      Who, precisely, are "they"?

Wife of mine pointed out that not getting a haircut for a month looks hideous - weird bald patches.  So back to super- short buzz cut.  This morning I braced, looking in the mirror.  I look like a woman trying to pass as a a guy, maybe  a small-breasted woman with enough T treatment to grow a mustache.    I would not believe me if I read what I write about me.  This is nuts.   White t-shirt: that they sell in the back of WM so you can tie-dye them or otherwise decorate them. They are thick and long lasting and slightly fitted, so that they could be a man's.  I like them.   Jeans, flip flops.   I will no longer point out these are women's.  What else would I wear?
