Integration With Possible Passing.

Well, I may not be able to pass. My primary obstacle is that I'm severely bald. I want to have FFS, and I hope to do what I need to do to reduce and minimize scarring after surgery, but I don't expect any miracles in my hair. I'm training my voice with dilligence and patience. I feel like I have a lot of control over that outcome so I'm making it as good as I possibly can.

However, I know there are some pretty nice hair systems out there. I'd be comfortable to wear one of those on many occasions, but I know I will continue travelling around Asia, then out through Eastern Europe, down across Romania, through Egypt, then finally to Morocco, continuing to teach English all along the way. Maintaining a hair system under all those conditions seems unlikely. It's actually one reason I'm seriously considering waiting a little longer on SRS too, because dilation in the middle of the Gobi Desert, when travelling as minimal as possible, seems like hell to me...

Still, I actually intend to independently develop my femme persona throughout these situations so... I'll just do what I do. I actually think shaved headed women are almost always incredibly sexy. I haven't seen an example I didn't think looked good. I have every intention of pursuing FFS, and I'm saving aggressively for it. I believe by the end of next year I'll be able to do some or all of what I want. I hope that will help me.

One thing I've been thinking about is the importance of integrating my identity with my life. Unfortunately, without passing, I kind of feel like my best bet is militant gender transgressiveness ... yea, being one of THOSE people, LOL.. It fits me okay, but I don't know how nice it will be.

Also, I can potentially adopt an androgynous status, and just do what I want to do. I feel pretty good about that identity.

Anyways, I'd like to here people's thoughts on integration of identity with "some" passing. I'd also like to hear what people think about a shaved headed Transgendered lady riding her Ninja motorcycle around the back roads of Asia...

Jeannine

PS: I also have this dream of stopping in Shanghai for six months to a year with a nice hair system and a little while after my FFS and teaching English completely stealth. To the Asians, American women look weird anyways, so that helps my pass-ability...

PPS: I never thought about all this before but now I see it's important to an integrated lifestyle, mostly because people aren't comfortable with folks who are ambiguously gendered or too far outside their boxes. And yea, socializing is important!

Hey Jeannine,

Well I'll give you this... you cetainly have a plan, and that is good. Hon, I would suggest that you simply do and look the way that makes you feel the most comfortable and expresses who you are. People really respond to those who are confident in who they are. You are going to be fine my dear!

Jeannine........

Sweetie, I'll have to agree with Bernii...you DO have a plan..and good luck to you with all that you want to accomplish in this world.....

I, personally am a hair person....I've had my hair long since 1973 and I have a long ponytail (16-17") and being 59 it's not as thick as it used to be...but it still works...

But as to the shaved head....I, too think it sexy on a beautiful woman, but I think that it would only work on a feminine face....any less and it would be hard to pass, I think...but, no reason not to go for it along with FFS!

Do what you need to do to make YOU happy!

I think you have a great plan there, Jeannine. I think women without hair are actually, quite sexy... Like Natalie Portman in V for Vendetta.

Americans actually pass fairly well in Asian countries. (men and women). Asia has a thing for androgynous people, at least in Japan where I plan to live and work as a host, or teach English (or both, oh hoh hoh~) Like anywhere, discrimination may be present; but Asia has a pretty good reputation compared to America. Their clubs are amazing <w< I wish you the best of luck on your journey, wherever it may take you.

Jeannine, you could give Finasteride a try, it stops DHT which is the more potent part of testosterone that causes hair loss, I don't have allot of hair loss but what i did have is returning. It is usually given to men with prostrate problems to shrink it, i have seen some dramatic results from others using it, and if you are going to be teaching for some time yet why not give it a try. It is a prescription medicine so a doctor will be needed to get it, but a little goes a long way.

Hi,

you can do a digital hair cut. I once give me a shaved head in photoshop to see what it looks like. It is easier than I thought. Than you can decied if you like it or not.

I was sometimes in Asia. the people are nice and I think you will only get the normal problems you get as a single traveling woman. In a lot of countries women wearing some kind of head clothing. I think it would help to adjust to the local fem fashion.

I see problems with a wig on a place close to the equator

I would not travel into countries with islamic laws. That can maybe kill you.

Greetings

Nelly

Against the grain here a bit, maybe... but just a personal opinion.

May talk about androgyousness - many talk about partial transition.

Me? I am a woman, but the body needs some adjustments.

All or nothing - bald head or whatever - I would make it work!

Speaking of baldness,

I was wearing a wig for the first six/eight months. Then a Natal man asked me why I didn't just

go with my natural hair?It was to the small of my back, the wig never sit right and shifted at

inopportune times, but I had a monk spot I worried about.Once Joe planted the seed though...

It germinated until one Sunday I went au-naturale and haven't worried about it since.I no longer

have any baldness,HRT took care of that.

I have a very high hairline one on side - think Higgins on MAGNUM PI - but if I part it in the middle it is only slightly high and I pass rather easily.

I don't look at a girl on a motor bike and think, trans, butch or anything else - most 'gender norms' have been broken down by now and you can get away with any of it that you want to as long as you don't consider it 'wrong' for your new gender.

Love ya,

Sally

Congratulations on getting the go ahead with HRT. I'm so ready for my wife to drop her opposition. As for the mood swings... I would look forward to them myself.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Three reprimands and they suspend attendance for a couple weeks.

Good for the other participant. What's involved in a reprimand? At our age, what are they going to do? Withhold snacks...   @BirdieI'm sorry you have to put up with such discrimination's. I'm proud that you're standing up for yourself.    Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Associating LGBTQIA+ with pedophilia or "grooming" is a conspiracy theory as old as the study of psychiatry (mid-19th century) when early "scientists" theorized that homosexuality was caused by childhood trauma of having been molested by older men. Some of us have moved on and become educated since those days, but conspiracy theories have an uncanny staying power...the "power" of ignorance, including the titillation of scandal. There is some psychology about people being attracted to outrage and fear. Life is naturally dynamic and uncertain. Unless you have developed a transcendent mastermind, most people have some level of discomfort with that. Therefore, it is weirdly comforting to target a particular thing as a threat and to make a big fuss about it, whether or not it has any credence. And it is comforting to be one among a mass who are equally outraged about a thing, whether or not the thing is real. It is also boosts the ego to speak with vehement "authority" about a thing that is a known trigger for the masses. Like Vicky said, Dunning-Kruger Effect.   However prominent a movement there is or not of pedophiles claiming that their perversion is a sexuality (I have heard of that, but never as it being a major influence), it is the case that much of the viral spread of disinformation associating LBGTQIA+ with pedophilia is due to online trolls. Surely, there are loads of 'em. But here's just one reported story. https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/tech-news/posing-gay-men-twitter-troll-goes-viral-attempts-falsely-tie-n954721

Another interesting day at the day-centre....   Another participant called me "sweet cheeks" and we both got reprimanded for inappropriate behavior. 🙄

She stood at the world's edge, awaiting judgment Isolation judged to be an insufficient burden The skies above required a hand, precisely two To keep the heavens high and keep the vaulted sky from crushing you She bent her knee and gritted teeth, awaiting weight Mentally preparing mind and body for the grimmest fate. Her head was bent, the firmament so hard to hold, Her back against the wall and braced against a fall And all that matters is she never ever drop it There she stands.  If they weren't full, her head would be in her hands. Heroes they came, from far and from wide to gawk at the girl who held up the sky.

Lets get this topic back on track folks.  Please spell out your acronyms for your specific meaning of the letter combinations and then re-read your own typing before hitting the send button.  We are here to be supporting each other and not stomping on someone's last nerve.  In the past we have used our DWF (Dirty Word Filter) to interpret certain acronyms and then the members were begging us to delete the posts for them one or two leaving with injured feelings.  Community Rules 7 (about posts being in clear English and Rule 8 (being suitable for people under 18) can come into play here. Thank you.

I could be described, I suppose, as a RWNJ.   A little stereotyping seems to be going on.  Don't complain about Trans stereotypes if you turn around and stereotype others.  A lot of RWNJs are actually decent people and get called that by people who pick up on one or two alleged beliefs.  I would rather single out influential individuals of whatever camp and call them to correction.   Trans folk are a small minority, even as small minorities go.  There are probably a lot more RWNJs running around than there are trans folk.

They cut a lot of trees here as well.  A lot of them toward the coast end up chipped up and sent to Europe to burn in power plants.  That bothers me, seems like a dumb idea.
    • Ivy
Most likely.   Unfortunately this was expected.  I expect it will be the norm in any GOP controlled state that hasn't already done it.  So much effort expended against so few.  I certainly haven't seen my area being overrun by trans kids.   And yeah, I fully expect them to go after my HRT next. I think those that are railing against us are much more dangerous than some non-binary high school sophomore.

Her name is Sunny and she is so much fun. But, as you said @KymmieL, it is a challenge with a new puppy. Thankfully our 13 year old Lab is taking the addition in stride and being supremely tolerant.
