A little background, my wife and daughter are aware of my gender issue for several years. Currently I'm unwilling to jeopardize my job/family by going full time. I'm close to being able to retire. Thus, I've yo-yo'ed back and forth regarding transitioning.  So the other day my wife came back from the bookstore with Caitlyn Jenner's book. She wrote in the cover basically hoping this might help me.  Every day she asks what's new in the book which initiates a conversation. So today my wife was doing her nails and asked me to come over to her. She said she knew I wanted my nails painted .i initially said no because I was going to be running errands. She said  I  wanted it and needed to start moving forward. She put a lovely red on my nails with a green accent nail. I did enjoy looking at them all day. Yes, I did go outside the house scared. I tried attaching a photo, the photo size was too big.

That's real great; a positive sign of support if ever there was one.  Perhaps its time to talk to your wife about you, or both of you, seeing a gender therapist.  They won't push you or rush you into doing something you're not ready for, but it will help answer a lot of questions that both you may have.  I hope things continue to go well for you, Deanna.

Thanks! About a year ago I actually had made an appointment with one but got scared and cancelled it. Now, it maybe time. It definitely has not been an easy road for either of us.  I forgot that at times this weekend she called me Deanna. Of course she asked how I picked that name.

That is fantastic! It sounds like your wife is very supportive! I think that you are right, it sounds like it's time for you to find a good therapist! Don't be nervous about it, they are there to help!

Sadly I had to remove the nail polish today.  I didn't realize how sad I'd be removing it and seeing plain nails.  Interestingly my wife and daughter noticed and were disappointed that I had removed it already.  At least they seem much more supportive/understanding now.

Hi Deanna.  That's nice that you were able to experience a little sunshine with your nails.  Color certainly makes a difference in the appearance of hands.  I don't wear polish a lot but I do enjoy it.  I do my own whereas my wife  has her's done professionally with acrylics.  It's too much for me!   That's great that your wife and daughter are understanding.  Enjoy!

I'm glad you are finding support with your family.  There were times when i would apply polish for just a few hours and then have to remove it.  It virtually broke my heart each time.  It took time but today i usually have my nails done professionally.  I have grown to love the pampering at the salon.  

I have to agree that therapy helps.  Others here mentioned it to me.  Like you i was nervous but it was well worth doing.

I hope that will come your way as well.

Thanks.  Kind of ironic this am, my wife inquired about my reading of Caitlyn's book again and also brought up that at least Caitlyn moved forward.  She brought up the canceled therapist appointment.  She too thought, it's time to move forward.  Thanks.
