Post op musings

It has been almost  two months since my GCS surgery! About the only thing I miss is the ability to pee where I want to.  I am still learning the new equipment. Apparently I need to squat, bend over and arch my back. It works when I do it . If I forget to do it just right, bad things can happen....

Practice makes perfect??

Add peeing to the list of things we take for granted.  I'm afraid I'd be terrified to go in public in case of a mishap during the learning curve there.

You know it sister!   I finally figured out to keep my legs closed and its fine.  Previously that would shut off the flow, ha!

I read once of a women that said she traded being able to go anywhere for constantly wetting her bottom.  Ain't it the truth.

Good to know I'm not the only one haha.  The male version urinary system is indeed superior in the areas of cleanliness and convenience.  I'm getting physical therapy as part of my cares following my pelvic floor surgery.  It's incredibly helpful in many ways and I'm not even having chronic problems.   I highly recommend it if it's available to you and your PT can code it so insurance covers it.

Every coin has two sides and so does every choice we make.  Its nice to hear of the "messy" side of GRS since we never seem to talk about the type of private changes we must go through.  I'm not complaining but I never even considered I would have to relearn this task.   When I first told my wife of my discovery, she looked at me like I had two heads, Duh!

I think we just assume we'll pick it up quicky, not realizing that it might take a while for it to become reflexive memory(not something I have to think about) Most of the swelling is gone so I can't blame that anymore. Though I do think it does mess things up on occasion.

Yes we always minimize the downsides we might experience.  It's human nature.  I'm three and a half months out and the swelling is all but gone with just a slight bit of numbness at muscles on the sides.  I'm glad to hear things are going well for you.

I so get this post. It's something that has to worked on post - op. I like to go hiking a lot, and one of the first things I had to work on was perfecting my techniques for answering nature's call. It's not easy at first, but after a few months it became more or less 2nd nature. I hope you are doing well Marcie.

I am, it is gradually becoming second nature at this point. It is  that 3:00 AM nature's call that I have a little trouble because I am not all that awake thinking about it.
