Beginning my coming out story

I have started to tell people my story.

Tuesday i had my three month checkup all was well. I called my sister later and we had a nice talk, and she said she supported me.

Thursday was the cancer support group I go to.

Before the meeting we discussed my earings, nail polish, cute red boots, and the haloween costume photos of me in the queen of hearts dress/costume.

We had a new person join us so we went around and gave our names history and our story. When it became my turn; my story was my partner of 22 years Patti was diagnosed with cancer in July of 2014 and lost her battel March 1 2016. i myself had been struggling since then but earlier this year things started to get better and july 31 I was able to start hrt and the first part of setember things got better and i felt like i had been given my life back, and I am transgender. When i finished two of the regular gals looked at me and replied its about time we knew that a long time agao.

So if you are not sure what to do grab on to your faith, hold on tight, never stop beliveing.

All the stories here have given me the inspiration to go on, for that i say thankyou. Hopefully someone can gain inspiration from my story.

Thanks for reading, and alowing me to share.

Good news on the check up!   A sisters support is always welcome.  I had to chuckle about the reply to your story from the other regular group members.  It seems we are the last to know and maybe our secret isn't so secret after all.

Thanks for an inspirational post.

Thank you for your story Rachael.  I remember being open and honest with the women in a meeting i was attending as myself years before i even had understood the concept of transition.  I found it amazing and so wonderful that i was accepted and my honesty seemed to bring me closer rather then further from acceptance.   I'm so glad you are finding a similar reaction.

Hugs,

Charlize

I am glad things are going well Rachael. I remember a similar time with my art group when I said I was a bit transsexual. Someone replied replied  'we noticed' :D

  • 1 month later...

update since getting my checkup  labs showed my t levels were high so we increased the spiro. i thought that i was handeling the increase but in reality i was not. i woke up with a leg cramp went to get some water and fell. i am ok but stopped the siro at the primary care doctors nstructions as i am not able to handle the blood pressure drop. i have an appointment with the hrt dr Tuesday so we can get back on track.

this prompted me to tell the rest of my family dad brother and, stepmother. dad did not even know what transgender was. and said so this is a decision you have come to recently. i said no this is a decision that was made for me 58 1/2 years ago. he said he would support me at least its a start. now when i call he makes it a point to say hellow (given name ) the difference is he used to just say hello. my brother could not come but stepmom called as soon as she could dial the phone after she left. he says he supports me and wll try but may still forget and use the references that he has used for so many years. i said this would be fine as what is left of that person is still here but merging with rachael. it was better than i exected and at least they know. i am still happy and life is good.

thanks for letting me share.

Your family story sounds promising.  Lets hope for the best in 2018.

As for the spiro some people do not tolerate it well, but you really have to up your water intake.  Interestingly for me I never experienced a drop in BP, but I had experienced leg cramps for a long time even prior to starting.  The added water seemed to make them a much less frequent occurrence.   Some doctors will prescribe a high dose of E and no antigen.  Several women in one of my support groups follow this regimen.  The high level of E negates any T in your system.   You might ask your doctor about their thoughts on this.

I glad you are still happy and that things are well with you.  Thank You for sharing with us!

From what I have read and heard most people are so.busy with their everyday lives and either looking at their phones or in a hurry to notice you out and about.

This exactly ^^^   I actually really liked games where I was required to play a male character. It felt homey, in a way.

I can relate.  I have always played a female character when given the opportunity. Not really and reason except I just alway pick them since I was young

Yes, our little town is having its 3rd annual Pridefest. I've volunteered the first two years  from setup to tear down (though I do take an hour off to eat and drink in the middle).     Then I attend a bigger one a couple towns over that has had some decent entertainment from some semi-famous folks (Laura Benanti, Patrick Wilson, Carmen Carrera, Judy Gold, etc).    This year I made sure to ask off of (weekend) shifts to attend a 3rd one where a group I'm in is in the parade.

Hi Vicky, I agree with you, so far since the time I've been under the new treating doctor's care, she prescribed me medication, but it's for children lol  luckily  my pharmacy warned me from a phone call not to take the medication.

Welcome to the party, M.A.     Sounds chaotic haha, I can confidently say that living with only two children the same age is stressful enough, much less three!

Things hit the fan today. I was reminded that "this is not a gender fluid establishment."   I had changed my preferred name and gender at the hospital on their app. My x-ray report came in with my preferred name and gender. It was not appreciated by the centre. 😬

I'm not a nutritionist but I've gone on bulking diets in the past so I can suggest a couple things to try. Foremost, food-prep stuff that you like to eat. Any 'real food' that usually sounds good to you. That way, you don't have the time-sink or hassle of cooking for every meal. You're more likely to eat if stuff if it's convenient and mostly ready. For example, I'll spend an hour or so one evening prepping burrito ingredients that will last me the next 3 nights. Then it's just a matter of microwaving the beef/beans and throwing them into a tortilla; takes 5 min.   If you need food 'on the go' often, consider prepping smoothies in advance pre-separated out into individual containers. I personally like low-no fat yogurt blended with fruit and, here's the weird part, those water flavor drops. They add sweetness without dumping in excess sugar. Insulated containers will keep them reasonably fresh non-refridgerated all day so they can even be tossed into a backpack.    Hope of those sparked some ideas!

I did get a sorry from the mechanic, saying it was all on him. The boss just said I just went by what I was shown. I didn't look at the paper work. I thought maybe you should before jumping down someones throat.   I am still in the market. Just waiting to find the right one.   Hugs, Kymmie
