Asexual as a man

Recommended Posts

My friend wrote me back after I gave her some clues about my dilemma, I wrote about this in my Coming out thread. She diagnosed me as asexual. It is of course true regarding my male mode. My sexual desires lies in being a woman.

The truth about asexuality is confirmed through the years as I have never been able to do the thing fully as a man.

I’m more inclined to feel with my whole body gently.

Therefore I hope that transitioning will gain me my stolen sexuality back.

As as a question for more confirmation to you:

Am I really transgender? This is as you know a long journey. I am willing.

As a man I cannot enjoy making love. I feel that being a woman would remedy this.

help me confirm.

Asexuality, like being any part of LGBTQIA is probably an inborn phenomena so in a way, your sex life was not stolen, it just was never there. That is perfectly OK, so freeing yourself from that resentment will help you at least feel better.  Your friend is not a therapist I take it so asexuality is not really a diagnosis just a hunch from someone with a little more experience.

Our sexuality rarely changes in transition but sometimes it does free our minds to accept that we were gay or lesbian all along, or even asexual.  As to your being Transgender, this an issue only you, with the help of your therapist can decide.  If you are simply gay you can free yourself up and accept it and decide that transition is not the way to go. You can then enter into those romantic relations feeling whole.

Thanks for response. As male I’m not gay, I don’t like men. But as transgender woman I’m probably gay. I like women. But I think I would like to experience it as a woman. My sensations goes towards female anatomy. The man thing doesn’t feel right to me.

I think that if I stay male I will never experience it. My best bet is as a woman.

Im going to start therapy in August so it will be clearer then. But until then this forum is my greatest help.

I am post op with vaginoplasty and my experience and that of the other "posties" in my social groups is that even going as far as we have does not give us a better chance at sex lives if that is the ONLY reason to transition and have surgery.  Transition covers so much more than sex that it will overwhelm you if sex is all you focus on.  The majority of "regretters" that we know of did it with only "sex" in mind and when it did not do what they thought it would that way they were in even worse shape than before.  In therapy, work on the WHOLE you not just the one part of you, that is all I am advising.  You need to get from "as a man" to "as a ME" whatever gender that is.

Hi... This response is "precisely" how I feel. I am not gay! Ever since I was a teen hanging out in "The Haight" and in the Golden Gate Park in late 60s I had always considered myself a lesbian! Until that ungodly wart is removed I am "stuck in the middle AGAIN!!!"

I always hung with the girls. I could not bring myself to hang with the boys. I always felt threatened around boys!

I don't know if this helps you. I can tell you this, however. Since transitioning I am finally feeling Comfortable In My Skin. Except the wart! I hate it! I don't hate anything ...except THAT!

Well it is more to me than just sex, but I hope for that parts as well :)

thanks all all for your replies!

When we transition it is the whole body and mind.  A holistic approach as it were.  Focusing on one aspect is planning for an unsuccessful and unhappy transition.   As Vicky notes, generally speaking our sexuality does not change although sometime we have hidden or buried it so deep so not to be seen.  Once we are open and honest we see our true selves in totality.

Wow! I look forward to the journey. Even if it is a hard one.

The wholeness of it all is my ultimate focus.

Thanks Jani for your wonderful words about the journey!

No idea, so far as I know, if you visit using one of the spammers favourite VPN IPs, you shouldn’t be able to access the forums.

@Adrianna DanielleI'm sorry I was raped too so I know the feeling.

I hear you. My therapist moved to another job at the VA.  I liked her a lot and was very comfortable with her. Now I have an appointment with a new one, but not till June.  I asked for the first one to be in person.  I think I'll be able to see what she's like better that way.

Hi Mealaini (what a beautiful name),   I applaud this attitude; I think that is such a healthy way to look at your situation. I have an ex-wife (who also has a beautiful Gaelic name) and we are such great friends now, having broken up, that we both agree our relationship has never been so healthy. She has found a man she loves; I don’t know if they will last indefinitely but I like him and he likes me and there are no hard feelings between any of us.  Anyway welcome, and thank you for sharing your story. I have been thinking of trying EMDR myself so it’s good to hear a success story.

I was in the field artillery in the early 70's.  At times we had to hump ammo.  A projo weighed around 200lbs.  There were very few women, they seemed to be mostly in the medical roles.  I suppose if you were openly trans, you'd have been kicked out for being gay. But I suppose things are a lot different now.  There are more technical jobs for one thing.  One of my daughters was in the Air Force for a number of years.  Started as an "airman", and came out as a captain (nurse).

Reading your post, I need to comment I have breast forms and sometimes get a chance to wear them to bed. But wearing my lingerie they always fall out so I wear a more full coverage bra to bed so they stay where they are meant to!

This would be a nice place to start by introducing myself to everyone, I already graduated from high school, and some college. I played the piano when I was younger, and I played in some bands. I used to take walks along the sandy beach, while collecting rocks and seashells along my way, I guess that would be the mermaid side of me.  I like fashion clothes shopping, and spending time with my close friends and family. I'm an online administrator from my own website in the community, and group facilitator in the lgbtqai+ community. It's nice to meet new friends here, and whatever help I can be I'm here for you.

Very simple tonight. My wife and I devoured 1kg of honey & soy marinated chicken wings!

Same here. Shaving my legs would be the natural next step for me, but my wife is also disapproving of it and I'm not really desperate enough to force the issue. What does give me hope is the thought that if I did shave them, my wife might actually like it, especially during times of intimacy, and she might then demand that I keep my legs clean shaven after that! I guess it's a bit of a fantasy. She has accepted that I will shave them one day just for an experiment, so we'll see what happens after that.   In the past, I've thought about what might appear to be selfishness too and came to the conclusion that I'm not. Rather, I'm non-committal, and I am that way because of my comparative lack of illness-inducing dysphoria. Nothing about me needs fixing, so there is nothing preventing me from continuing to have the best of both worlds either. It's apparent that we are dealing with a similar issue in different ways though. The main difference between us, I think, is that I am the simultaneous type of bi-gender (if indeed that's what I am), and I deal with it by presenting myself a bit androgynously, rather than either/or.   @Sally Stone, aspects of your story are eerily common to my journey. I can hardly wait for the next instalment!

I had purchased an antivirus software with my credit card that comes with VPN protection, and I also get the same problem, but a little differently when certain web browsers, pop up message suggesting for me to turn it off? why am I paying for a service but only to turn it off?

Well my wife's mind hasn't changed. As she shared an anti-trans post on facebook yesterday. I just hope she still ok with me.   Decided that starting in June I am going to do in-person appointments with my therapist. I don't have to, I just want to. If asked why at work. It is to work with both the out going and incoming therapist.   Strange how someone can become so much an important person in your life in such a short time.    Hugs, Kymmie
