Very unusual nails.

Hi everyone.

In this post I am going to show you how to create nails that have the appearance of stone either granite or marble.

If you refer to my previous post "Home mani and pedi kit" this will explain what your kit should consistent of.

 

So you have gone through your manicure routine and fancy something a little different. 

For this you will need the following.

UV gel base coat.

Main colour for the red granite look I use a deeper red.

For the marble effect just about any colour will work.

Normal polish top coat.

A collection of Sharpie pens.

Dazzling metallics acrylic paint.

Good quality thin artists brush.

Rubbing alcohol.

Cotton buds.

 

Paint and cure the base coat and colour in the normal way  (this is described in my previous post)

In the attached picture I used a black Sharpie pen for the red granite. Now place different size dots on to the nail take a cotton bud and drip the rubbing alcohol onto the nail. As you do so you should see the Sharpie ink start to move and spread over the nail.

This process is completely random the beauty of this is that each nail will be totally unique. Basically keep going until you are happy if not wipe off the ink and begin again, you can do this as much as you like as the gel coat will not be effected.

The rubbing  alcohol evaporates very quickly allow a few minutes for the nail to completely dry then add your top coat

 

The grey nail uses a white gel base coat.  As can be seen the black Sharpie pen takes on various shades of grey. The gold and blue highlights are using the Dazzling metallics paint. There are many colours available so multiple variations are achievable. The acrylic will take a good time to dry completely; good excuse for a glass of wine. Finish once again with your top coat.

Well that's it unique nails for hardly anything. I warn you though these are very popular with my clients so don't be surprised if you get requests

Hope this is of interest. Remember nails are jewels not tools ?. 

Oh one tip : if you are not completely confident using polish and tend to get it on the skin around the nail where the nail wall is at the side of the nail. Paint a thin layer of liquid vaseline or similar onto the skin once the gel or polish is cured/ dry simply wipe off Viola nothing on the skin.

Thank you. I have been doing my own nails for more years than I care to remember and been a professional nail technician for around three. The only limit to nail designs is your own imagination and it doesn't all have to be with nail polish or gel. 

I will keep sharing what I know.
