And....it's not quite D-Day after all. ?

Got postponed until Monday due to some urgent customer interactions requiring executives to travel today and tomorrow. No worries, but sort of disappointing!

I was just wondering how things went. I guess I’ll find out next week. :)

As will I! At least I have something to look forward to on a Monday. ?

Thanks, all. The meeting is in just over an hour. Giving myself a little mental pep-talk right now. Just stay poised, confident and upbeat and everyone else will take their cues from that, right? ?

Well, that's over with. It went as well as it could have and we've already started changing email and other systems to use Julie as my name. The only question I got was , "why did you pick Julie?". ?

I'm sure there will be some issues, especially when my presentation changes on Wednesday, but it was as good a start as I could wish for.

Thanks all for the encouragement! I'm glad to have completed this milestone ?

Ahhh!  That was easy, wasn't it?  You're on your way and nothing could feel better.  There may be a few stumbles and odd looks when you come to work as yourself, but I don't think you'll notice.  Smile and be you.  Congratulations Julie!

"easy"...yes, I suppose overall that's true. The only part that was difficult was the few minutes in the meeting room feeling very much like a goldfish in a bowl being viewed by many observers. ?

But, for the most part everyone just wanted to get back to work and was glad that the meeting wasn't about layoffs or anything awful. As always, other people have much more important things to focus on than us. ?

Now, if I can only find something to wear on Wednesday!

That’s great Julie! Tomorrow will be the big day. Good luck picking out an outfit. I know it takes me an hour every day and I only have like 30 pieces of clothing altogether! ??

Congratulations Julie.  I found that getting used to being a "goldfish" was part of my early experiences as well.  Take heart you will just be a boring regular person soon.

This is too true, Kirsten. Having a small wardrobe makes it much easier in some ways and also much harder. C'est la vie!

I so aspire to boring. ?

Actually, I'm going to model myself after distressed jeans...not exactly as they were made but super comfortable and cute AF!

That's awesome.  I was really nervous for you.

Thanks, Briana. It was good to have the online support knowing that people were thinking of me!

D-Day + 1 is here. I'm in the office as me. Not surprisingly, it feels almost like being in the office on any other day. ?

It did take me a little longer to get ready as I was paying a little more attention to how I looked. Getting ready felt a bit like getting ready for the first day at a new job. My colleagues are definitely sneaking a peak as they come in the office and walk by, but it's all good!

Happy "Talk Like a Pirate Day!" ☠️

My pirates always sound like Scotsmen! You'll have to give me lessons from one Julie to another. ?

Hi Julie. Don't worry if your pirate voice sounds Scottish - some of my great, great, great, great Scottish relatives were pirates! Yar! LOL

More about my continuing D-Day... I was at my AA meeting this morning and told about 10 members of my home group that I am transgender and will be transitioning to Julie full time sometime in October. I was at my GA meeting tonight (Gamblers Anonymous) and disclosed that I am transgender to the entire group. Everyone at both groups were very accepting and supportive. Many were encouraging and I received a lot of hugs. I also got quite a few questions and no judgments. Pretty amazing day, all in all. I hope you are having a good day too? Good night. ??

So glad things were going well for you Julie. That first day at work is a doozie. Actually seems like the first couple weeks are. At least for me they were. I started wearing makeup to work this week. It was like starting all over again. Lots of scared men around me now. Lol. One guy this morning, who I’m not very fond of anyways, walked by me in the garage. I said hello. He put his head down and quickly walked past me mumbling hi as he did. It was nice. Well for me not him. Hahah. My point is have fun with it. Your life is starting anew. You get to be happy. Don’t waste your happy on other people’s whatever they have. And what flattery! So nice when people are sneaking peeks. ?. They must all like you. I know we all do.

Hope the rest of your day and week are wonderful as well.

@Julie J I'm glad to hear that everyone was accepting at your meetings. It's great when the support networks we rely on don't let us down!

@Kirsten Yeah, I've got one person that has sort of stopped acknowledging my existence, but he's the one I was worried about and in this case silence is a good sign. I'm hopeful that he'll come out of his shell as he observes my normal interactions with other people in the office interacting with me. He's a good person, but has a pretty narrow world view, so it will likely take him some time to adjust. Women who are powerful and know who they are scare many men, Kirsten, it might not just be the makeup!

Thanks all for the lovely thoughts. ❤️

You are so sweet! ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you hun. ?

Sounds a bit like this guy too. 52 years old and never moved out of mommy and daddy’s house. He’s seriously a millionaire now. But still at home. He literally went to the supermarket for the first time about a year ago. Came into work the next day asking us if we knew how much food was in a market! Lol. Can’t make everyone see the light. But it’s can be fun to play with them in the dark too. ?

Link to comment

OMG. I'm flabbergasted by that. He'd never been in a market? Are you sure he's not an alien in disguise?

Link to comment

Haha right?! I thought the same thing! He was honestly amazed that there were more than 5 kinds of frozen pizzas! Lol. Apparently his whole life his mom did all the shopping and cooking. His dad has done all of the house and yard work. He has only left Massachusetts  a handful of times in his whole life as well. ??‍♀️

Not sure.  The perp is a minor.  The problem here is NOT transgender, the problem here is incompetent and criminal administration.  See https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/family-of-loudoun-co-student-sexually-assaulted-ineptitude-of-all-involved-is-staggering/3231725/ It is more than annoying that people think the problem here is TG and that other people think the solution is some stupid statewide law.  Like an appendectomy to deal with an ingrown toe nail.    Since Loudon, I recall a boy was asked not to use the girl's restroom at a high school by one of the girls.  He, overwhelming her with height and weight,  assaulted her, claiming he had a right to be there.   Later I think eight girls beat him severely in another girl's restroom.  Again the problem is not transgender, the problem is assaults in restrooms and common courtesy.  TG is used as a smokescreen and it seems to paralyze thought among administrators who do not want to do anything to provoke controversy.

Time to get with your Primary Care doctor and be referred to a neurologist or an orthopedist.  It could be many things, too many for any of us here to guess at.

Other than the Boy Scout motto, oath, and law. I use two:   When asked how I'm doing? In all honesty I reply. I would have to make something up to complain. If asked to explain further: I reply. I know someone is having a tougher time than I am, and I pray God blesses them.   I also recite this quote that I have tagged in my signature: Courage, doesn't always roar. Sometimes it's the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow."-Unknown    Saying these things daily keep me motivated.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

If this goes on, I am conceding the real possibility of being stopped in WM or somewhere by a concerned citizen who tells me, "Lady, God made you female.  I don't think you should be trying to look like a man. You need to return to your true gender and be comfortable living your life out as a woman."   Begin odd and awkward conversation.  I have been thinking about this this morning.

There are many MAGA GOP types who are not transphobes, of course. Some MAGA GOP types are transgender.

I'm hoping to read the next section today.  Many of the reforms they are calling for are good, such as expediting the military procurement process, and have nothing to do with transgender issues.

Good afternoon,    I have a young friend who is vegetarian and married to a full on meat eater. They have two areas of their grill clearly designated for their different cooking requirements. When she’s cooking she uses tongs or chopsticks to handle any meats. When he’s cooking he respects her request not to cook her meals on the side where meat has been. They get along fine and respect each other.    When she attends our house, she usually brings her own food, but knows I will clean my grill to meet her requirements. We love and respect her commitment to be vegetarian. I love that she trusts me to make her comfortable when visiting us. There are ways to make it work.    Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

I was going to call it Numbness, then I realised well.. it isn't. basically, yeah, it isn't.   this only happens to me sometimes. I'll be lying down and my legs will.. well, I guess lock?   If I straighten them out, they will unlock- when I roll over again, they will lock again. this lasts for around 10/ 15 minutes I guess   it's not pins and needles either

so, a close friend wants to cook for me   the issue is, she is a vegitarian and won't handle meat- I, on the other hand, won't handle vegetables- hate the things   every time she goes out to the shop, she comes back with something.. a cake, a fruit smoothie, a coffee, I won't eat any of it. please help me think of something that she could make for me that I'll actually eat   disclaimer: you are talking to the most pickiest eater in the world. good luck

I think there is some truth in this.  They intend to implement Project 2025, whether or not he spends his energies persecuting the Democrats who have been persecuting him (in his view, a debatable point) and does nothing else.   I have seen numerous accusations that the document is about "Trumpism", whatever that is, and is merely a vehicle for him to become dictator.  From what I have read so far, that is the same sort of truth as the Steele Dossier, denying the validity of a certain laptop, Schiff's non-existence evidence of collaboration and a host of other things, many directly from Biden, that are simply not true.   I will continue reading it.
