Light rain here.  Fortunately my kitty walks herself.  And there is a litter box for back up, although she prefers to go out.  Most of her inside time is spent sleeping of course.  Outside, she splits it between sleeping and terrorizing other critters.  It's a rough life for a kitty.

That sounds like the purrfect life for a kitty. 🙂

this was the first one, I at least got a start on it yesterday though! It'll probably be finished monday, my partner's quite squeamish.

Have they said on what else y'all will be doing dissecting wise? Sorry I've always thought it would be cool to do it.

Good morning everyone,:coffee:

It's sunny and cool here, with scattered rain forecast for later in the day. The local weather personnel are saying this will be one of the coldest May 1st, possibly setting a new low record for Indianapolis. Yesterday we drove to several state campgrounds, checking out which sites will be best for us to utilize. I also needed to renew my IN DNR senior citizen pass, as well as my IN DNR motor boat launch sticker. Now that I'm over 65, I have a free lifetime fishing permit. Lifetime!!! It expires in 10 years! What if I live longer than that? The young clerk didn't know how to answer my questions, or my reference to 'Logan's Run'. A 1976 movie, set in the year 2274. Where everyone enjoyed an idyllic, hedonistic lifestyle, until they reached 30 years of age. Then they were ceremoniously killed, believing in reincarnation. However Logan (Michael York) didn't want to be killed, hence the title. 'Logan's Run'. Today my son, and his family are coming over for an afternoon/evening visit as well as dinner. We'll all gather around the big dinning room table catch up, and play a board game or two. We'll also Face-time with our granddaughter who is away at the CIA culinary school in Hyde Park, NY.

Hugs,

I remember that movie - as well as Soylent Green from 1972 with Charleton Heston.

Good Sunday morning

I’m having my first cup on the porch.  Thunderstorm in progress.  And I’m in my pjs.  Our dog usually likes to come sit on the porch but went back inside.  I guess she was getting wet.

@Mmindy here in SC, I get a true lifetime combination hunting, freshwater, saltwater license.  Specific stamps for restricted game are the only annual extra.

I go in to work at noon and off at 5.  My one day off this week is Monday.  We will celebrate our anniversary then. Honestly I was surprised she even wanted to recognize our anniversary this year.  She had previously Sid she didn’t.  But she is coming around again. We live on a roller coaster of being ok and not ok.

strange dream last night.  I was running in a marathon and I was winning, then I got passed so second.  Third place kept heckling me, but couldn’t pass.  My daughter was coming up strong and I hoped she could separate the heckler.  Then I was in a car with my wife.  We saw an old friend. Ultimately decided to make an offer to partner with him and his wife in a grocery store.  Some where during that exchange I woke up.  Ironically, I don’t run. Never have run more than 1 ½ miles and that was our annual physical fitness test in the Air Force.  I had worked my self up to 10 miles on a treadmill aiming to do a half marathon with my son, or preferably him, my daughter and daughter in law but when I told my doctor, I got a very strange response, stop, it’s too hard on your knees.  So, yes, I really have run further, it doesn’t count.  My only witness was my treadmill.

got to start getting ready for work.

Good morning @Willow

That's how it should work, however Indiana has some catching up to do. I hope you have a good shift at work.

Soylent Green is the new wonder food. Packed with protein. Soylent Green is ____________ .

A bunch of us should have been to Carousel already. @MmindySo, twice for some. I would be a red for the second time. LOL. As you can see I have seen the movie more than once.

I'd probably be a Sandman. Are there even woman Sandman?  Maybe I'd be the first. LOL

Had a nice day yesterday. Called out. The wife bitched about it. She was in one of her moods yesterday. Neither me nor my youngest could do anything that pleased her. I feel this is happening more and more. I don't know what to do. She won't go to the Dr. unless she absolutely has too. I don't think she has done any health checks that people need as they age.  She finally went to the eye Dr. She had to for her license renewal. I think the last time she went was a child. Maybe just the school eye checks they did.

IN WY, only disabled vets can get a lifetime fishing and/or small game license. I don't ever remember a senior one. I have gotten my lifetime national park pass.

Kymmie

I occasionally run on a treadmill to take it easy on my knees. I do have significant arthritis in one knee due to cartilage removal to mitigate an injury. There is a lot research suggesting that running is good for your knees by strengthening the supporting muscles and tendons in your knee. There isn't a lot of research about what running does to an already damaged knee but for me it seems to help. The ortho that did my knee told me not to run  and ride a bike. I do both, cycling is more painful. I do need to run less than I used (30-40 miles week down 12-15). Most medical folks seem to consider running to be good for your body as long as you don't overdo it or push too hard. When I get a knee replacement I'll stop.

Sunny and warmer here. Finished my coffee and planning my day

I got a senior lifetime fishing (inland and coastal) here in NC.  But it's in my dead name now.  I don't know if that's a problem.

All that I know of is dissecting another brain to find an "irregularity" (dye). We're almost through the year, so there likely won't be much more dissection. Also, no need to apologize, I get it, and it's really fun.

Good evening

well another shift is over.  I just made an appointment to get my estrogen level checked tomorrow.

I found out someone I call a friend is having severe issues and is stopping all references to being transgender.  It seems the people who call themselves Christians and anti transgender have gotten to him.  He is going by his dead name and gender now.  Just happened.

I suppose we are all under fire by these people, and I doubt it’s just us.  Starts with TG kids medical care, the women were next, now it’s adults.  And going after the doctors too.  And they call themselves Christians.  They are anything but.

to whom it may concern, please leave this post alone.  It is just the type of thing that needs to be mentioned around the coffee table or at least shared once.

let's redirect the conversation. Anyone else have a lucky find? Personally found a pair of pants - lots of zippers, WORKING POCKETS ON WOMEN'S PANTS, black with white plaid. They were supposed to be 50, but I got them for 30. Most of the store was also on bogo 30% off, so it was a good day to come.

That's a great find! I don't have one very recently but within the last half year I did decide to try men's sleep pants. They come with pockets! Pajamas with pockets.

I put my cat on a diet. I didn't think I would survive it, but we seem to have worked out a feeding schedule that makes it more tolerable for her. Two weeks, and her tummy is less like a basketball, so I think I've got the right amount of food for her.

It could be a temporary effect of the pain and even the wine. I was surprised to learn that alcohol disrupts sleep, That's a general comment because of course I can't know how it is for you. I

You're probably right.  I'm not really used to drinking a lot...I'm kind of a lightweight.  But it has surprised me just how much wine it takes to stay buzzed and pain-reduced for a day (let alone a week).  The case that my GF bought me lasted about 3 days.  I'm sure my liver will start hurting pretty soon 🤔

My husband has teased me that my life right now is pretty much hedonistic.  I often get carried from place to place...I drink wine constantly...I can ask for food to be brought to me instead of getting it myself...and I can't really do much in the way of chores.  If it wasn't for the pain, this would have been a whole week of vacation!

I think one thing that's disrupting my body is not being able to exercise much.  I can do some arm stuff, but not running or swimming or climbing anything.

50?  You meant 50 cents, right?  😆

I wear pants only rarely, but when I do its men's jeans because the pockets work.  My GF uses a sewing machine and re-tailors men's jeans to fit her curvy figure.  Most women's pants don't have pockets, as you've noticed.  So that's definitely a find!

I found some money in the couch today!  85 cents!  I can almost buy a candy bar...

@Willow I don't think that is a serious offense enough to get this thread closed. I bet that it is the longest thread on here.

Every time I hear about those laws they are looking to pass. It makes me sick, that people can be so cruel. That people treat people the way they do.

Good morning, everyone!!! We had a tremendous amount of rain yesterday - and the rest of the week looks as if it will be cool and wet. I'm looking forward to warmer weather and getting the pool opened!!

We have a few small projects to work on in the house that will keep me busy....and warm and dry.

I do a lot of my clothes shopping online looking - have found Amazon to be a pretty reliable source of moderately priced, decent quality items if you pay attention to the sizing. I also troll Talbot's sales with my wife and buy when the drop their prices down 70% or more during end of season sales. Even Sam's Club has been a place to find slacks, blouses and athletic gear at fairly low prices.

Well, time to read the local paper!! Be safe and find the goodness in this beautiful day!!

Well new day. I'm thankful to wake up and experience another day. I'm trying to think of positive thoughts. Had my coffee and now looking forward to what today brings. Hope everyone is having a good morning or for the ones who work nights a good night.

On my first cup of coffee but the quality is low. It's a bag I put aside for that reason, so I guess it's stale too. I'm having trouble finding coffee I like lately. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the week. I started weeding out old paperwork yesterday, and I'll continue that. I want to catch up on a few things this week.

Went over and renewed my Drivers License this morning.  I didn't have an appointment, but still got out of there by 08:30 !!

And… I don't actually hate the pix.

I had expected to be there most of the day.  Mayday seems to be off to a good start.

Hello we are The lake. So called because This One has not determined a name for oneself but has in a way created an environment to try out multiple names as different people. Currently Some of us use she/her pronouns and one uses he/him. We hope to learn more about being transgender and the intricacies involved. Once again it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance and we hope to be of further help in the future.

Wow, a shop that actually respects a customer's truck?  That seems like a miracle!  My husband does most of his own work, because he really, REALLY hates people who mess with an interior, with grease spots or footprints.  His personal truck is old, but super clean.  And since he's the transportation manager for his company, he's pretty picky about people respecting company equipment.  "Take care of it, and it will take care of you" is the motto.  Drivers should be able to go through a DOT Level 1 inspection without worry.
    • awkward-yet-sweet
Literally the word means "hatred of women" and so I don't think that's quite the right description for what you encountered.  Possibly chauvinism?  Or maybe just not wanting to bother somebody he figured wasn't interested or capable of doing the job?  Who knows.   But on the other hand...be glad you're passing
    • VickySGV
Finally found a site that gives the definition of defemination as a process of loss of feminine characteristics or continued loss of them.  Not a word I would use every day, although I can see where it would be a problem for some who value those feminine characteristics.  Yes I have seen it happen and now get the idea, and yes, not in so many words, but yes I have been up against others who do put down my femininity as being a pseudo female at the most polite and I cannot use the words hear for what it is at the worst.   Online, there is little to do about it except leave and block the people who do it and the places it happens, since it affects you much more heavily and negatively than it does the person doing it, and you need freedom from the stress.  The rules here which our "powers that be", namely the staff say we do not put up with members denying the authentic identity of other members.
    • VickySGV
I still maintain my "male" skills and almost have to laugh when that sort of thing happens to me with Cis males, and it does happen.  On the other side there, I have activities with the Trans community  here where I live including Trans Men who love to show off their new lives.  I have had a couple come over to my house and I have done some shop teaching that is always fun.  When they offer to help me by doing "male stuff" in a group, I do not take it as misogyny .

This guy asked me to help with his tire.  So when I turned around and he saw that I'm a woman he's like,  oh nevermind
    • Betty K
I think that’s an important point. In my case, I’ve found transitioning to be such a relief and a joy that I have no difficulty focussing on the positives. Maybe in your case you could make a practice of noting when you are gendered correctly? Do you keep a journal? I find doing so is major help.   After saying I rarely get misgendered, it actually happened to me yesterday in a local store. After recovering from my shock (the salesman called me “brother”, which to me is about as bad as it gets) I wrote my first complaint letter to a business w/r/t misgendering. That felt good. I also reflected that, to a degree, for those of us who don’t pass, I think gendering is correctly can take a conscious effort. Some Folks seem to automatically see me as feminine, others have to work at it. So if you’re often surrounded by people who have no desire to work at it, that may exacerbate your problem.
    • Betty K
I don’t know why anyone would go to the effort of advocating for trans folks only to charge people to read their articles. It seems so counterproductive, and I seriously doubt they’re making more than pocket money out of it.
    • KathyLauren
Oh, how I wish we were over-reacting!  But I don't think we are.  The danger is under-reacting.
    • Ivy
I understand your feelings. I have the same fears.  NC has made a swing to the right as well, and I'm not optimistic.  I want to tell myself I'm over reacting.  But seeing what these people are  saying, and doing when they do get into power can't be dismissed.  It's proof of what they will do if they take over the federal government. I'm getting kinda old now anyway.  It took me over 60 years to get here, and I'm not going back.  I suppose they can revert my gender markers, but I will still be legally Ivy.  And I have every intention of dying as Ivy Anna.  If I can't find my hormones somehow, I'll do without.  The physical changes I do have are permanent.   Trans people have always existed.
    • Willow
@KymmieL I think we all have had to deal with a person who would not apologize when they were wrong no matter what.  In my case it was my MIL. Actually called me a lier I front of my wife.  Even when she realized she was wrong she wouldn’t admit it to my wife, nor would she apologize to my wife for any of the things she later admitted she had done that affected my wife.  I had a boss that accused me of saying things I did not say in a manner I did not use.  Even another employee told him that I had not said the things nor used the words but he still refused to back down.     Unfortunately, all too many people in this world believe they are always right no matter what.  Some are very famous.  lol   Willow
    • KatieSC
I wish I could cope as well as others. I feel very defeated in that all of the consideration, and then treatment to transition, could all be wiped out by this time next year with the united effort by the R party to eradicate all that is transgender. I fear that the national election could turn out to our detriment, and we will face a national push to eradicate us. Tracking us down will not be that hard to do. Once they know who we are, forcing the legislation to reverse our name changes, gender marker changes, and other records, will not be that hard. We saw an example when the AG in Texas was data mining the driver licenses for those who had gender marker changes. Who will we appeal to? The Supreme R Court? We would have an easier time trying to convince a Russian court.    We need to get out and vote in November. There is not enough Ben & Jerry's to improve my outlook on all of this. In some ways it is a cruel thing in a way. In the early 1930s, Germany was working hard to hunt down the LGBTQ population and eradicate it. Now Germany has better protections there than we have in many of our own states. About 90 years ago, Germany was seeing the rise of their very own dictator...Now the US is on the verge...Oh never mind. What a difference 90 years makes...    History may repeat itself, but sometimes it shifts the focus a little...
