Two Years Already? -- Mammogram Time Again

I just found a letter from my HMO on the floor telling me it has been two years since my last Mammogram and to get an appointment for early January to have one.  My general chart is pretty clear on two items, that I am Trans and I have boobs, and the one does not cancel out the other. For me it is an interruption, but with my dense breast tissue which is common among Trans women, and Cis women cancer or tumors are harder to detect and manage so in I will go.  On my first of what will be 4 mammograms this time, I did have a scare and did have a needle biopsy of one breast, but thankfully no cancer.  They are not comfortable in some ways, but I grin and bare (that's the right spelling) it, a blessing and a curse of HRT and long life.

Good for you Vicky, my insurance also covers mine, and I get a reminder to schedule them in the mail.  I've had 3 so far all have been good.

Here's to a long and happy life

My doctor has inquired about whether I would need a mammogram.  I told him yes but not quite yet.  He's trying to learn.  That's great that your insurance reminds you to get this done.  Go Girl!

I've been a bad girl in the past but went on Monday for my first mammogram and bone density scan.  I actually rather enjoyed the process.  Once i got past the embarrassing questions about pregnancy, meta pause etc. i explained that i was trans and had no further issues.  The radiologist was both kind and gentle and while the squeeze was uncomfortable it wasn't nearly abad as the ouchies experienced early on  HRT.   To make things even nicer there were lovely flowers for all who came in.  Haven't heard of the results yet which i presume is good.

Hugs,

Charlize
