I hate to post this but with the two trump appointments the vote was 5 to 4.  I'm sure there will be more news upcoming but i heard this on the radio just a bit ago.

Hugs,

Don't you think it's time to change the command in chief ?

Someone that skipped out when he was called, a draft dodger that bought his way out (bone spurs?),  Perhaps karma will catch him and the "probe" will finally take him out of office, the president has his own legal issues to face.....

There are still many appeals and other cases pending, this is not a done deal by a long shot, however this is a legal set back today and for now no new Trans can enlist.

This article sums up today's decision.

Couple of moderating points that I *believe* are true:
- This didn't decide the case, just stopped the stays in two cases
- The ACLU still has a nationwide case pending whose stay on enforcing the policy is still in effect

Still very depressing, though. The sheer petty vindictiveness of all of this continues to astonish me. It has nothing to do with actual fighting efficiency, the military has said that, but rather just bigoted "own the libs" small mindedness simply for it's own sake.

This is why we continue to fight for trans affirmative policy, legislation and elected officials!

Nothing is guaranteed in this matter.  As i understand it, this was not a ruling on the merits of the arguments for an against, but a decision to let the military move ahead on certain aspects of the policy.  The one sure thing that the decision does is keep new trans recruits from enlisting, for now.

It doesn't bode well, for sure.  But lets hope that at least one of the five conservatives can be persuaded when its time to fully argue this case.  Maybe by then we'll have a new POTUS and VPOTUS.

Another point I heard from one of the significant legal players is that some of the problem is that the POTUS has that type of power in matter as a default because there is no specific law on the books from Congress.  I don't see it soon, and I am also sure that other than rejection of new recruits who check the wrong box on the enlistment contract, there will be time needed to even play this back to 10 years ago,.

My consoling image at the minute is of a horse who has pulled a certain dead body's hearse in a ceremonial funeral and is now watering the grass by the grave.  I can think of several for the honor.

I saw this concert in which it is said that the famous phrase of Jon Landau "I saw the future of rock and roll and his name is Bruce Springsteen" comes from that night. By the way Bruce opened for Bonnie Raitt that night and she was the better performer . . . just sayin'.

Astronomy and astrophotography.  I have done a few public presentations on the subject and could most likely wing it for an hour without putting you to sleep.   On the other hand if you need a sleeping pill, I could also talk for an hour about flying and you'd be out cold.

Please consider joining us, even if it's just for a few minutes to see what the meetings are like. I've learned so much, had so much fun and gained confidence in myself just by being a part of this amazing group of people. It's a low key, no pressure, non-judgmental chance to just be among people who are supportive, understanding and affirming of each other.    I'm travelling out of state and still planning on dropping in for awhile.    Come see what it's like!!

Thank you, Susan!! It was such an amazing experience for me. I can't remember if I even talked about it on a Zoom meeting.   Here is the link to the post I made about it. And, again, thank you for helping to give me the courage to do it.

Good morning coffees   This probably doesn’t exactly apply to me because you wouldn’t have found a more shy and conservative person than me.  I was perhaps less shy before my sister started complaining about me doing things that were hers to do. And I would become embarrassed and that was the end of that.   upstairs unit got their typical weekend visitors in the middle of the night last night.  They woke me up.  They have little consideration for being in a condo community and the neighbors being in such close proximity.   @awkward-yet-sweet , how goes the job with your husband’s boss?  I don’t recall you saying much about it this week, but I could have missed a post along the way.  If I recall you were supposed to meet with him last Monday.   @KymmieL I hope you are feeling better.     Yes, I find it to be wrong that just because a car part says Ford or Chevrolet on the box that same part with Lincoln or Cadillac on the box cost a lot.more.  I know there are differences in the upscale brands such as the engine and drivetrain in the Caddy and of course the interior fit and finish.  But it’s the same body with things crammed in the same way under the hood.     well, time to finish my coffee, fix my hair and made my way across the street to work.    willow

I read about her this morning. What a shame! She was beautiful and it seems she had a strong support system in place and could have had a wonderful life all to have it end like this. Such a waste. I truly hope the monster that killed her gets everything he deserves.
