Real Life Experience

My journey has been one of finding my comfort level in tiny increments.

From barely being able to walk out my door,to going in public at will.

There have been many set backs that I had to over come.Ugly looks,to mean

things said.You find that you celebrate your accomplishments,by pass the negative.

I had an experience the other day that set where I going,and the public's preception

of me,in stone.I was waiting to catch a bus at a terminal.As I waited,the group of men

waiting also grew.I was listening to my Ipod,not really seeing how large the group had

become.When the bus pulled up,every man waited for me to board,being the only woman.

Now that was a major reinforcement of how I am seen as a woman by others.

Who would have thought a moment like that could happen two years ago?Not I.

I spend so much time reading and responding to all of the desperate and tortured souls that inhabbit our communiity that I so often forget about the good times.

That's something about Texas.. they might be backwards in many respects socially.. but they are trained from birth how to respect a woman.. not like here where men will shove you out of the way to get a seat on the train... Saturday was a great case in point.. I don't care.. standing up is good for me.. I'm fit and healthy not fat and overweight like 80% of the population XD

It's nicely reinforcing.. I like passing without trying too.. and public transport is a good testing ground. Mind you.. looking at how I looked after staying out overnight then traveling on 2 trains to get home.. I'm not surprised nobody read me..
