MtF recovery and sexual intercourse

Just a couple of quick questions. How long is the average recovery time after surgery for feeling completely healed? Also how long after surgery would you be able to be intimate with another person? Is there a set period of abstinence? Thank you.

Each surgeon has their own time window for allowing resumption of penetrative sex by a human partner.  The major issue being what infections the other person could put into the healing soup.  My surgeon said 6 weeks, and another one of her colleagues says six months.  One or two go as far as a year.  I do know of partners who have helped with the dilating process fairly early on and added cuddle intimacy to that experience which was good for both of them. The post op person is going to have to relearn to have sex and how it works best, it is not the same as before.  The single center of my pre-op sexual stimulation turned into about 4 or more places needed to launch the rockets.

 

"Total Healing" will be one year to 18 months on a usual basis, if there are no healing complication or "revision" surgery issues.   At 6 months my internal swelling had finally gone down (it lasted longer than the external) and I was able to urinate without spraying all of my underside.  The longer problem is nerve re-mapping which is the cause of the time beyond that.  Nerves are displaced and the body needs to learn and register where they are connect post op.  Feeling as if your new organ centers are 6 inches away from where they really are is a nuisance and confusing.
