Ulcers

Hi everyone, I think that I may have an ulcer. My symptoms started Sunday, and while OTC medicines do provide some relief, the symptoms come back a little while later. I'm toughing it out until I have the time and money to see a doctor next Friday. Plus, that'll give me more time to make sure it's something that will clear up on it's own. 

 

I was wondering if any of y'all have had ulcers before. If so, what were your symptoms were? Also, what are common treatments for an ulcer?

Ulcers come in many ways and have many different causes. I have been dealing with what is called a peptic ulcer which cause me to suffer from heart burn and other things. Sorry I can't give more info but it has been years since I started treatment for it. I am on a prescription antacid and I have to watch what I also eat. All I can suggest until you see the doctor is try not to eat really acidity and spicy foods and try to be as stress free as possible.

My family member went through something similar due to the presence of H. Pylori, a bacteria in your stomach. The treatment for that was some regular antibiotics– two weeks as the standard course.

Feel better and DON'T STRESS! Stress can make your stomach acid flare up more.

Well, I managed to get to an urgent care center today,. Didn't get much done, except they ruled out the presence of H. Pylori with a blood test. 

I haven't been to a regular doctor in several years, so I got reprimanded for that because of digestive issues that I've had for over a decade. The reason being that I kept getting the run around as a teenager, so I just learned to deal with them. The NP has referred me to a primary doctor and a gastroenterologist, too. We'll see how it goes this time around.

with me, bonjela works great. it burns when you first apply it, but after that, it feels alot better. it doesnt taste that bad either. not sure if they sell it in the US, there might be something similar.
