Bathroom Issues

The hardest thing I've found in my Transition MtF is using the bathroom in public.  I carry a purse and dress in leggings and sometimes dresses. I find it so hard to use them. I had a Oh S@#t moment a few months ago when went in to mens room at a store. I was in the stall and had just completed my transaction when a man came in. I froze. What should I do I thought, Stay here or run for it. I have bathroom anxiety now.

If you are dressed and presenting as a women you need to be in the ladies room.

You could always look for a single stall family restroom.

f I was in a dressed as a woman I would never go into a men’s restroom. That could be dangerous. If you have been dressing as a woman in public, and haven’t had any issues, then I would use a women’s restroom or unisex restroom.

If you do use a men’s restroom in a dress, be extra cautious.

I agree that you should use the ladies room if in a dress. I remember my first time using the ladies room. I was not dressing full time but had gone to my therapist in a dress. After I left, I realized that I needed to pee and went to a retail store. Imagine my horror when there was not a family room! It was a no brainer, I used the ladies room. No problems, except that I freaked when I came out of the stall and there was a woman washing her hands. She turned, smiled and said "hi". I panicked and mumbled hi back and almost ran out! Really blew that one.

If you are using the ladies room in a dress, please remember to pee sitting down, and wash your hands afterwards like other women do.  Smile, make eye contact, and be on your way.  It's quite noticeable when someone enters a stall and stands to pee, no matter how they are dressed.

Wherever you go, and I agree with the "dress code" above, have someone else with you if you can.

I belonged to a "beginners group" at a CD dressing business, and even though almost all of us Passed by the time we went out in groups, you did partners for the RR trip and that made things easier.

One lighthearted experience I did have was in a restaurant where I did not have an escort.  I had been headed toward a Men's room unintentionally and a man going in pointed me over to the Women's room almost afraid I was intentionally going into it.  I opened the door to the Women's room and nearly jumped back in shock as a woman came right at me on the way out.  A second later I realized it was a mirror on the wall in front of me and I was the woman.

Thankfully I have yet to have this problem. Most of the time I am dressed more feminine is when I go to the VA. At the VA they have adopted the policy that you can use the restroom of the gender you are claiming. doesn't matter how you present.

That's the problem, lots of public places don't have family bathrooms yet.

Mens room???? Thats a strange and and dark place only told of in grimm fairytales and Horror storys.

Ohh i do miss being able to pee standing up. Such distant memories. (Scubb that. I dont miss it one bit ?)

Now back to the task in hand. If you walk like a woman and talk like a woman then you use the ladies. Quite simples. My advise is dont use the mens if your going to PRESENT as female. Or what is socially accepted as female anyway.  Honestly its a very private thing in the ladies. all stalls. unless you have to que which you do from time to time.

I remember the last time I stood at a Urinal in a men's room. This was at the beginning of my transition 5 years ago. I was thinking what an awful place it was. I realized that I was standing in a puddle of man pee. Ewwww I thought, and spread my legs wide to go either side of dead center. It was stalls after that.

I’m never thrilled about using any public bathrooms. Often times I try to make sure that I don’t have to use them and luckily my timing is usually good enough that I can safely use the one at home. Then there’s the embarrassing moment when you are on the phone and not paying attention and you are thinking of a different floor plan... walking into the wrong door is horrifying.

This wouldn't even be a problem if they would just leave us alone.  It is a no-brainer.

OMG.  I'm glad it wasn't worse, and you were able to get on it quickly.  Lots of blood can be scary.

Like I said, I'm no tankie, but I do see a world of difference between Joseph Stalin and Bernie Sanders.   If the point is not wanting 'government control' the Right is pretty good at that themselves - as they've been demonstrating lately. This stuff gets complicated.

So, I am curious. Is the Governor going to mandate vaginal or penile recognition photos before one enters the restroom? Considering the Governor has no balls to do the right thing, will he have to pee against a tree outside? Inquiring minds would like to know. I love it when the job recruiters contact me about the wonderful jobs available in Oklahoma. It is so much fun telling them there is no way I will ever go to Oklahoma. When there are no workers, then they can shutter the place.

Ngl, probably Sonic the Hedgehog, the Beatles, or the Monkees. Those are the three subjects I know the most about so I could drop hours of info on them.

Isaac Asimov, Albert Einstein and Robert Kennedy, in that order.

Thank you! I'm out of coffee so I have been drinking hot tea instead. Looking forward to the 1st. It's crazy that we are almost in May. This year has flown by really quick! Good to hear that y'all got to sleep in. Hope you have a good weekend too!

It's nice to care about others but you need to live your life as you please. No one be your only source of happiness. Love yourself and don't look back. I lost over 40 family members it hurts but apparently, they didn't truly love me. True love will always be there through the thick and thin. I can honestly say that HRT has made me think in ways that I never thought I would. I get myself some shoes or clothes every month because retail therapy not only helps but it is a reward to myself to show love. I have over 100 dresses. I have a whole walk-in-closet full of clothes and 67 pairs of shoes. I love who I am. I was born in 84 so not all people in the 80's think that way. As far as the name just take your time and be happy with it. I knew I loved the name Ashley. Take care and welcome!

Congratulations Sam,   The common saying her once someone starts HRT is: “Enjoy the ride.”   Best wishes, stay positive and motivated    Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

WOW @Ashley0616 it’s good that you have skills to treat traumatic injuries, as well as the ability to remain calm while managing others needs to get yourself and the boys ready to go to the hospital. Proud mama bear skills. I’m glad that he’s doing well.    Meanwhile back at the ranch, we slept in and I’m just now finishing my 3rd cup of coffee.    Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Well yesterday was not fun. I was getting ready to make dinner and I hear screaming and crying. I look over and my son put his foot through glass. He gashed near his Achilles tendon. Thankfully that is intact. I didn't freeze for a second. All of my military training came into play. I doctored him up and got Jett ready and myself and we headed to the ER. He is doing ok today. He says he is in pain but doesn't need Tylenol. He is a tough cookie!

Hi,   It's seems today is my trans birthday.  I'm beyond excited. Just picked up my testogel from the pharmacy. Although I naturally have doubts as I'm sure do we all, they are rapidly disappearing. Yesterday I was so nervous I kept claiming I'm not trans, despite grinning like a fool knowing I can pick up my prescription the next day. I'm shaking and on the verge of happy tears. I will put on my first sachet this eve. Thanks so much to this forum and kind words from people. This is the first forum I found when I began seriously questioning.

Jesus! I have a lot of questions. Like how can you be so forgiving all the time?
