Hello and welcome to the site.

to answer your questions  Look around the forums. Theres plenty of answers from real life expreiances.

Have a read then decide.

May I make an observation. You are Genderqueer on your profile? You asking about Male to female.

I think you first question maybe is what am i?

Now dont take that the wrong way.  But to start your journey you need to decide your destination.

What do you want from your life?  Where do you see yourself?  What do you see as your future?

Welcome mini. As Maid in Bedlam has said, you will likely find your answers already in the forums. That being said, everyone’s transition is different and is theirs alone. There is every possible variation of surgery, hormones, etc., you just need to find the right combination for you to be you.

Be be safe in your journey of self discovery. This board has a great group of folks, with all kinds of varied life experiences, so if you can’t find a topic that answers your questions, ask away.

*hugs*

Sara

My experience finding a gender therapist didn't involve a psychiatrist at all. I went to my primary care physician, told them about the stress and anxiety I was having in general terms. Was referred to a psychologist for counseling, who had a large "safe space" poster on the wall. I commented on that, ended up being referred to my wonderful, caring gender therapist who has been patiently hearing me flip flop about during the process as we explore who I am.

In many instances, primary care is the entry point for all referrals.

And welcome to the forums. Lots to read and learn from. Including a clothing size guide. Now if only someone could guide me through fashion, life would be vastly improved (I tend to dress like a farm hand).

Welcome Mini.  I came here with many of the same questions.  Time here and some sessions with a gender therapist helped me put my feet on the path that brought me some peace and self acceptance.

Here is a link to a list of resources which you can use :

Hi mini! Welcome! You're right! This site is great & very welcoming. And, I just wanted to reassure you: It's ok if you're unsure where this is leading. That, so to speak, "unsureness", may feel bad, good, or somewhere in-between. But I'd guess the one thing it feels like more than any other is: necessary. Thus, I don't think you have to be sure just where the process is heading; I don't think you need to have a destination. One needn't be looking to find the right thing.

For example, looking online for a way to fix your computer's desktop art, when instead you find the perfect restaurant to take your relative when they're visiting you next week. You found the answer to a question you hadn't asked, & you didn't find the answer to a question you did! But the pre-existing or dormant question was there, the whole time, beneath your self-awareness. Thus, you found the answer without looking for it. Doubtless, I don't think this approach works for all questions; but neither do I think one must be sure where one is going before one starts a journey. As Tolkien has put it: "Not all those who wander are lost." For a picture of this? Just look at my profile pic.

Hi mini,

Welcome to Transpulse, I'm glad you're here!

When we first realize we're trans we often want all the answers right away. This is actually the time to slow down. Take some time learning who we are. Determine how we want to transition. Some find they need to medically transition, some people realize they don't have that need. It is not a requirement. If we take the time to understand ourselves, our journey can bring us real self acceptance.

Lots of love,

Timber Wolf ?

Hello Mini and welcome.

It depends of course on dosages as some have reported libido being shut down while others can still maintain a relationship with their (other sex) partner.

Going on hormones will not make you or allow you, to function as a female but they will tend to soften your emotions and any aggression you may possess.  Aside from the link to the Resources page (posted by Charlize) you can try looking at the Psychology Today website for therapists.

Cheers,

Jani

There is (as there seems to be for almost any topic) a Fashion for Dummies book that you can check out for basic advice to get you started.

Besides developing a sense of fashion, there's also just knowing the terminology, very helpful when searching online or beginning to have conversations with others about fashion items. I stumbled onto this simple but helpful "Glossary of Fabric & Fashion Terms" from Kohl's:

Please consider joining us, even if it's just for a few minutes to see what the meetings are like. I've learned so much, had so much fun and gained confidence in myself just by being a part of this amazing group of people. It's a low key, no pressure, non-judgmental chance to just be among people who are supportive, understanding and affirming of each other.    I'm travelling out of state and still planning on dropping in for awhile.    Come see what it's like!!

Thank you, Susan!! It was such an amazing experience for me. I can't remember if I even talked about it on a Zoom meeting.   Here is the link to the post I made about it. And, again, thank you for helping to give me the courage to do it.

Good morning coffees   This probably doesn’t exactly apply to me because you wouldn’t have found a more shy and conservative person than me.  I was perhaps less shy before my sister started complaining about me doing things that were hers to do. And I would become embarrassed and that was the end of that.   upstairs unit got their typical weekend visitors in the middle of the night last night.  They woke me up.  They have little consideration for being in a condo community and the neighbors being in such close proximity.   @awkward-yet-sweet , how goes the job with your husband’s boss?  I don’t recall you saying much about it this week, but I could have missed a post along the way.  If I recall you were supposed to meet with him last Monday.   @KymmieL I hope you are feeling better.     Yes, I find it to be wrong that just because a car part says Ford or Chevrolet on the box that same part with Lincoln or Cadillac on the box cost a lot.more.  I know there are differences in the upscale brands such as the engine and drivetrain in the Caddy and of course the interior fit and finish.  But it’s the same body with things crammed in the same way under the hood.     well, time to finish my coffee, fix my hair and made my way across the street to work.    willow

I read about her this morning. What a shame! She was beautiful and it seems she had a strong support system in place and could have had a wonderful life all to have it end like this. Such a waste. I truly hope the monster that killed her gets everything he deserves.

I am so glad you enjoy them as well. The help things “stay put” so well. It got me through some of my most dysphoric times.   Wow, I hadn’t heard this at last week’s Zoom meeting if you had mentioned it. That is a huge milestone April Marie.I have no doubt that this confidence will only grow in time. The freedom of being yourself, especially in public, is a wonderful feeling. I am truly happy for you.😘   *Big Congratulatory Hug* Susan R🌷
