When Looking For Clear Distinct Answers

In one episode of M*A*S*H a soldier was brought in without a visible wound, when asked who he was he replied, "Jesus Christ."

That of course is incorrect because he would have called himself Jesus the Christ, Christ Jesus, Jesus of Nazareth or Jesus son of Joesph of the house of David, but they got something right near the end of the show.

When asked if God answered all prayers he replied, "Yes, but sometimes the answer is no."

That seems to be so cruel but if we believe that all things happen for a reason then we must know that some of our prayers must be answered no to allow the rest of the plan to work.

Somethings are left for us to take care of on our own, we were given the ability to reason and the freedom of choice to find our way on this journey that we call life, we are prepared to handle all of the day to day issues and even some of the ones that we feel are beyond us.

We were designed to solve our own problems and find our own way, we have been given numerous helping hands along the way and there will be others but I remember a quote that says, "God helps those who help themselves."

Life is a participatory sport, you can not win if you are not in the game.

Much like praying to win the lottery, you can't unless you first buy a ticket - you must help yourself.

This is not a pessimistic view of life or even just pragmatic, their is optimism because I believe that we can achieve just about anything if we work hard and pray for the strength to complete the task and not just for the result.

Love ya,

Sally

I've wondered about this same thing as well.

I believe that God will help me figure the way to move forward and solve my problems--but you made me realize something: I still have free will, so I must walk forward with God to achieve these things. What I'm saying is... I can't just sit and wait for everything happen to me. In a sense if I don't push myself to move forward with the answers God has given me, and instead I just wait for things to magically happen to me, isn't that sort of like sloth, one of the seven deadly sins?

Btw... M*A*S*H is one of my favorite shows :)

Take Care,

~Ashley
