So I came out to all of my teachers...

I told all of my teachers that I’m trans. It went fairly well. Most of my teachers responded in a very positive and supportive way, and I really appreciate it. Two of my teachers haven’t responded to it (I sent an email to them so that I didn’t take time out of class), but one of them is using the right name at least. Anyways, my one teacher only responded by saying that she’lo “take it into consideration”. I’m really ecstatic about how the rest of my teachers responded, but I’m a bit worried that this one teacher’s class will become even more uncomfortable than it already is now.

That's a big step Adrian! You couldn't be the first one in your school, and I'm sure teachers are trained these days on how to respond appropriately regardless of how they feel about it.

Well, my sister-in-law (English teacher) and brother-in-law (Shop teacher) both had training to deal with trans students and were both very accepting when I came out. They had questions, and I answered them as best I could. Then we moved on.

So Adrian, if you get static from your teachers, don't be afraid to go over their heads. Discriminating you in any way, be it using the wrong name or the wrong pronouns, is not acceptable. You don't need to be super-sensitive about it, if they're trying, then it's fine. On the other hand, if they're being malicious, they have superiors. Their superiors will probably react to a potential harassment lawsuit poorly. I'm not saying you have to take it that far, but the possibility should be enough to keep them in line.

Best of luck!

Hugs!

Good news. I hope you continue to have successes.

As to "take it into consideration"  I wold have responded politely that its not something thats negotiable.  Its who you are.

That you all so much for your advice! I beat even greater news! I was called into the office by the guidance counselor to find out that I can not only choose which locker room is best for me, but that there is a bathroom key given out to transgender students and that I can have the right name put on my student I’d so that I don’t have to explain myself to my teachers or substitutes next year! Yay! I’m so excited!

That is fan-freaking-tastic!

Being stuck in the men's room was always a HUGE source of anxiety for me. I'm glad you don't have to deal with it.

Bathroom is good too...

I LOVE the name thing. I wish we had that back in the stone age too. That's just amazing!

So happy for you Adrian!

Hugs!
