Jackie Goes For Bottom Surgery

Just what it sounds like. It's a pillow with waffle-like depressions in it that helps spread your weight so it doesn't all ride in just a couple spots. Best use seems to be dropping it on the seat then scooting back a little to keep the surgical site elevated. Not useful on deep chairs, but it's been fine for taxi rides.

Hugs!

Interlude

So the next big milestone isn't until Tuesday. I'll be getting all this tubing out of me and saying goodbye to my catheter and the packing material they stuffed me with. Hopefully I'll feel less like a stuffed bird.

So two stories from discharge day.

I have two nurses helping me get dressed. One senior, one junior. They want me comfortable, so they tell me to take whatever position I'm most at ease.

I stand up. That was easily the most comfortable I had been in days. During the instructions,  the senior nurse gets me about half-dressed... then has to deal with another patient. I'm standing in full view of everybody that walks by, tubes streaming from my undercarriage and my depends hung up about mid-thigh. Blood everywhere. I've been stewing in my own goo for days, and I just itch.

The nurse meekly says, "Maybe I should close the curtain?"

I shrug. "This cost about as much as a new car. Let 'em look."

Maybe my female modesty needs work.

While we were waiting for Em to come back, the junior nurse asks about my transition. I'm standing there in about half my street clothes and she asks, "So, did you get your top done too?"

I'm a weak A-cup at best. She just watched me skin into my bra. I grab my left breast, smile and say, "You think I should sue?"

So the point here is that while I might be in some discomfort, I'm not suffering.

Hugs!

Glad you've retained your sense of humor Jackie!

We share that. I tend to find humor in unpleasant circumstances. Making light of it helps me focus on other things. It doesn't hurt to get the staff in stitches so I'm not the only one.

So glad this going well for you, despite the discomforts.

Best description I have heard about it in a long time.  Attitude is a big chunk of how the process goes.

Thank you soooo much for sharing what you are experiencing. This helps me to prepare for my future decision(s).

Above all, Congratulations!!! I am very happy for you and look forward to more wonderful updates!

So glad your procedure went well!

Amazed at the differences each surgeon plans out. My surgeon will be having me get out of bed the day after surgery, and discharged at day 3! It is amazing how well your process has went. Gives hope!

I am glad things are going well, keep us up to date!

That sounds nice, there would have been WAY less vomit. It probably comes down to differences in technique and what the surgeon feels gives the best results.

I still want this catheter out. Getting rid of the packing would be nice too.

So my packing has decided to get ahead of the game. I went to evacuate and discovered about six inches of the foulest gauze dangling from the site. To avoid contamination, Susan and I cut it short. Let that be a lesson to you: A real woman always has wire cutters in her purse. Just in case.

I talked to the clinic, it's fine. Just sharing the chaos. On the plus side, it turns out that there's an earlier appointment available so I get the hardware out at 2:00.

I'm sure it's a relief to keep making forward steps like that!

An hour ago I got my first laser treatment on my chest, tummy, and face/neck areas. It hurt so bad I'm questioning having any surgeries!

Part Five - Unpacked

So I got the early appointment and it was over in a blink. The first thing they asked me to do was get undressed. Seeing as how it had taken me twenty minutes to get dressed, it was challenging, but I managed.

The vents went easy, but the packing and catheter were both very tender. They went quickly though. My urethra is still pretty swollen, but getting better. Everything is still very swollen. It's a wonder it doesn't hurt more than it does. I can see what it's going to look like in broad strokes when it's done healing.

Then we did my first dilation. Not super comfortable right now, but I'm having trouble relaxing yet. It's a three part process: First I insert a huge dildo for five minutes. Next, we use an even bigger one for ten. Finally I have to insert a telephone pole for the last five minutes. That's my routine for the next month.

Douching starts Saturday.

My first thought was..”Oh the joy!”  That sounds so painful and I’m sure the telephone pole seemed less of an exaggeration at the moment of insertion.  Glad to see you survived and still have your sense of humor.

Get Well Jackie,

Just sayin' I was not as endowed as my new plastic friends. I apparently have excellent depth though and almost enough girth to handle the monster more or less.

I should also mention that there is a fair amount of blood at this stage and that is perfectly normal. Just gross. Susan hasn't seen me do this yet. She's in for a shock in about an hour.

Right now I'm working out which sitting pillow is the most comfortable. Looks like it's going to be the waffle.

I also just walked about a hundred yards to get dinner. I'm actually shakey. Surgery took a lot out of me. Another recommendation to be in the best possible shape before you go under. Especially if you're older.

Oh, and the shower was glorious. I think I used up the hot water for the entire hotel.

Single stage penile inversion. Hybrid is hard to find, and more difficult to qualify for. Especially considering my other health issues. I'm kind of a disaster.

All I can say is ouch.  I can not imagine inserting that much so soon but I suppose they know what they are doing.
So when you say telephone pole do you mean the ones with climbing cleats running up each side or just a smooth pole?
Either way I’m impressed.

Exactly like that! Climbing cleats, splinters... I think there's a transformer on the end. Practice your zen. That last one is huge!

So yeah, add mindfulness practice to the list of things I'm glad I practiced first. Wow.

I wish i knew half of this stuff when i started HRT... not that anything would stop me but HOLY, Are these doctors present during the 20 minutes of inserting dildos? Are they the ones inserting it? Because if that's the case.... I don't think i could ever be prepared for that.

For the first time, yes Doctor Rumer did it in office. After that, well, the power is yours.

LMAO

I suspected as much.  Your a tough young gal though  You can handle it!  LOL

I assumed your first insertions were supervised which I admit would make me uncomfortable on many levels but they are doctors so Meh!

"Transformer on the end..."

That's a mental image I'll struggle to erase!

Sounds like you're improving, at least your sense of humor is in high gear.

Hope you're back to full mobility and jovial its soon!

Thank you, Susan!! It was such an amazing experience for me. I can't remember if I even talked about it on a Zoom meeting.   Here is the link to the post I made about it. And, again, thank you for helping to give me the courage to do it.

Good morning coffees   This probably doesn’t exactly apply to me because you wouldn’t have found a more shy and conservative person than me.  I was perhaps less shy before my sister started complaining about me doing things that were hers to do. And I would become embarrassed and that was the end of that.   upstairs unit got their typical weekend visitors in the middle of the night last night.  They woke me up.  They have little consideration for being in a condo community and the neighbors being in such close proximity.   @awkward-yet-sweet , how goes the job with your husband’s boss?  I don’t recall you saying much about it this week, but I could have missed a post along the way.  If I recall you were supposed to meet with him last Monday.   @KymmieL I hope you are feeling better.     Yes, I find it to be wrong that just because a car part says Ford or Chevrolet on the box that same part with Lincoln or Cadillac on the box cost a lot.more.  I know there are differences in the upscale brands such as the engine and drivetrain in the Caddy and of course the interior fit and finish.  But it’s the same body with things crammed in the same way under the hood.     well, time to finish my coffee, fix my hair and made my way across the street to work.    willow

I read about her this morning. What a shame! She was beautiful and it seems she had a strong support system in place and could have had a wonderful life all to have it end like this. Such a waste. I truly hope the monster that killed her gets everything he deserves.

I am so glad you enjoy them as well. The help things “stay put” so well. It got me through some of my most dysphoric times.   Wow, I hadn’t heard this at last week’s Zoom meeting if you had mentioned it. That is a huge milestone April Marie.I have no doubt that this confidence will only grow in time. The freedom of being yourself, especially in public, is a wonderful feeling. I am truly happy for you.😘   *Big Congratulatory Hug* Susan R🌷

@Abigail Genevieve, that is not an appropriate question, IMO.  This isn't the Army/McCarthy hearings.   Carolyn Marie
