Plastic Surgery In Thailand

Over the past several months, I have been researching plastic surgery options. Like many on here, I desire to make my body conform to a female shape. I have not yet determined where or from whom I should get plastic surgery but I want it to coincide with HRT. Yes, my desire is to transition MtoF, so I have been searching for clinics and surgeons who have expertise in this. In researching the surgeons and clinics advertising online in the United States, I find the costs to be extremely high. Clearly anyone wanting this would need excellent cosmetic insurance coverage or would need to be independently wealthy. I do not have such insurance and I certainly do not fit into the latter category. Initially, my interest was in obtaining a BBL and breast enhancement. It was my thought that after these were completed, I might later consider others plastic surgery.

As a result, I extended my search plastic surgery facilities overseas. I quickly found that in many countries the same procedures here could be done for a fraction of the cost. That was when I hit upon Thailand where numerous hospitals and clinics offer sexual reassignment surgery and because of the exchange rate, their prices appear to be about a third of what they are in  the United States. I contacted a free medical screening service to get an assessment of cost and procedures in order to obtain a BBL. I filled out a profile questionnaire and sent photos of my buttock and waistline. After a few weeks they sent me their assessment of what they thought I would need and the cost. The surgery they recommend is much more involved than just a BBL. They recommend a lower body lift because I have lost so much weight and instead of a BBL, they recommend a buttock implant. There would also be a tummy lift in front. This would necessitate a lot of cutting of loose skin and shifting things around. I would have to do this in not one but two visits. This is a major hospital in Bangkok. The cost of this would be much higher than a simple BBL but if I were to have all this done in the U.S., it would much higher. You should understand that I am far from deciding to go ahead with this in Thailand. They do have board certified surgeons with a great deal of experience in this. I wonder if anyone on here has had plastic surgery in Thailand and if their experience was good. I also wonder about other countries so I would welcome your thoughts on any country, good or bad. If you have cautionary tales or things I need to know, I hope you feel free to share!

Finally, with the growing concern over the coronavirus, I am not likely to be making travel plans to Thailand any time soon.

Hugs!

It's not something I have any experience of at all but perhaps one point to make here is that the bulk of some surgeon's work may well be with cis women as are the likely some of the procedures you indicate. As such it may well be a good idea to investigate things a little, if possible, with reports and reviews from that angle too as there may be more accumulated experience. Others here will likely have far more experience and be able to give more informed comment, but as your surgery being as extensive as you say, if it were me I was look into all angles.

I'm interested in hearing more about your research. I've only been out to myself for about a month and a half, so I'm still figuring out what I want, but I'm definitely inclined to transform myself to the fullest extent possible. And saving money is of interest to me as well. I also have a career that's research-oriented, so I might be able to spot red flags if there's anything specific you're concerned about.

Also, my wife and I have always wanted to visit Thailand. We had tentative plans to go there many years ago that fell through.

I'm a retired research analyst so maybe I am similar to you. I must check everything out and do my homework before I make an important decision like this.

I have visited Bangkok Thailand once before. I found the people there very warm and accepting of a foreign tourist. As you may know, Thailand has a very large transgender community, referring to these people as "ladyboys." One may consider this term pejorative but nevertheless transgender people are well accepted in Thailand and so there is quite an industry for M to F surgery. If you have only been out to yourself about a month and half, I would strongly urge you to take your time before making any major decisions about surgery. Perhaps you are already talking to a therapist. But if not, I recommend it as a way to sort out your feelings. The prices for BBL advertised in Thailand appear to be around $3200 USD on average. For all the surgery they recommended for me, the cost would be around $13,000 USD. But this would be a fraction of what I would pay in the U.S. I think they also offer loan programs for this type of thing. My guess is that one could also obtain a personal loan here.

There are other countries advertising BBL surgery at a considerably lower cost than the U.S. I have seen advertisements for clinics in Mexico, the Philippines, Dominican Republic and many more. You can Google a lot of this information.

Hugs,

You’re welcome, Vidanjali. Now I have to actually start writing!

Society is preserved by passing on proper roles for people, which works for the 90+ percent that it works for.   We were all taught from an early age that breaking out of the classification was a shameful thing, even when, actually, it is not.

I'm probably showing my age.  I haven't looked at a guest count in a long time.  Doing FB and staying off forums for a while.  Previous forum use had fewer bots if any and guests were actual people, mostly, unlike today.    Any AIs or bots struggling with GD are welcome.  I would love to read your introduction.

I've seen this on a lot of forums tbh. That's how a lot of content ends up on internet archives. You've got loads of bots scanning the site at all times and archiving it. Forums are actually nice (in comparison to social media) in that the guest count gives you a pretty good idea of how actively the site's content is being archived. Basically just don't post anything you don't want archived.

Kids are resiliant with therapy and strong support ;-)    They were all elementary age when their dad died and are teens now, and how they've grown and developed as young people, already, takes my breath away.   I'm working on communicating changes clearly and without shame, which is difficult basically all the time because of feeling guilty over doing gender "wrong" for so long. Working on that myself! <3

Allow me to add that people should think twice about posting pictures of themselves, with the facial recognition software that is out there.  Those in stealth or who are not fully out may discover they are suddenly and unwillingly fully out in ways they wish had not happened.

Funny how when i read the topic name i thought you were asking about the study of plants and animals.  I'm a bit into that as a farmer at va time when a cell phone makes plant  for insect identification easier than it has ever been.    Now on to your topic.  I don't farm in the nude.  I have wondered at whether i would skinny dip as i did as a kid without thought of how my body might affect others.  The effects of hormones makes me different from the average person and perhaps i'm "neither fish nor fowl".  I would certainly depend on who my fellow passengers on that cruise would be.   Hugs,   Charlize

This is also a relatively small forum and it can take a long time, seemingly, for someone to get around to replying to a post.

I am also pretty sure that several of them are folks who are "trans curious".  Sometimes folks who are trying to find their own identity, are attracted to trans folks or who are simply interested in the trans community.   There may also be some who wish to do us harm which is why ......... I've just learned to smile figuring "i'm on candid camera".   I'm sure many of our younger members never experienced that show so my age is showing.   Hugs,   Charlize

Most of those "guests" are web bots from China, Indonesia, France etc. looking us over. They are mostly benign.  All they can see or gain access to are the general forums.  Members should be careful not to post anything that could readily identify themselves such as real names, addresses, phone numbers, etc. They do not have access to our gallery, blogs or private messenger. They seem to haunt all forums. Not just us. I should add that they can make us known across the internet. That's how prospective members find us. Google would be a good example.

Heck I didn't even know they could go up that high! I just have a four burner and one to keep stuff warm. What kind of pies did you make?
