Why I'm Trans... According to My Egg Donor

So, since I came out to my egg-donor in 2018, she's been in denial. While I've cut off all contact, by wife still has to work with her so stories trickle back home. I'm apparently living in her head rent-free and I'm a noisy tenant. Because she can't accept who I am, she keeps coming up with theories as to why I think I'm really a woman. Her rationale is that she's a veterinarian, so she knows everything. I wish I was making that up. We've had conversations about how her degree makes her more qualified at... well, everything... than doctors, psychologists, etc... Tragically, she's not even a very good vet.

The descent into insanity is presented in the order in which she has invented the particular theory.

"You think you're a woman because you've been duped by a predatory sex-change industry. They just want your money."

Now, if this were actually true, they've got a pretty terrible plan here. In the super litigious United States, draw in men then coerce them into becoming women. They apparently do this by... making us struggle to meet criteria and making sure we have contact with doctors and mental health professionals for every step of the process. I'd think if they really wanted to indoctrinate us, they wouldn't insist that we see doctors from outside their medical enclaves. Unless, of course, every doctor and psychologist is in on it. That would be a pretty good trick, wouldn't it? I mean two people can keep a secret if one of them is dead. How an entire industry could keep this under their hat requires a degree of planning and discipline you usually only see in spy thrillers. In this woman's head, Big Brother is here and he's... apparently come to make you pay to get rid of your penis. Weird.

"You think you're a woman because of side-effects from your asthma medication."

OK, fine. I took a lot of asthma medication as a child. It started when I was four or five with a rescue inhaler. Of course, I'd been turning my underwear around to pretend I was a girl since I was three. Never let the facts get in the way of a good theory though.

So if this is the case, where are all the other little "confused" boys and girls. I'm not the only person in the world who had asthma in the seventies. It seems like that would be a pretty easy thing to track. If everyone who had asthma turned out to be trans, that seems like the kind of thing people would notice. It also doesn't take into account all of us that were born and died before asthma medication was a thing. Is the medication so potent that it made our condition travel back in time? If it can do that, I can think of better uses for the technology.

"You think you're a woman because we gave you McDonalds as a kid. McDonalds is evil."

This one really blows my mind. Can you imagine if it were true? There's be like ten cis-kids left in the world. You have to wonder about the business model here though. It's like the Underpants Gnomes. Step One: Make a bunch of kids trans. Step Two: Working on it. Step Three: Profit! What possible reason would anyone have to do something like this? If a comic-book villain had a plot like this, he'd be laughed out of the building.

So yeah, the "theories" espoused by the crazy person who birthed me. I'm a little worried actually. There's a strong vein of crazy on my Dad's side of the family too. That's not the kind of thing you want to get on you. Does anybody else have a family member like this?

Hugs!

Now this one i can relate to. Well except a big Mac. They are best ?

It could almost be a film. Ronald Macdonald and his evil plan to turn all men into morbidly obese women. Its all in the fries you know ?

I Think it is inline to be an Austin Powers film i think. GROOVY BABY

Im afraid most of the people I know would be pretty cool with a trans person. In fact I would perhaps be more inclined to scutinise than they would. Which is a strange phenomenon in itself. I suppose I would be more intrigued.

Awaits with anticipation  for some more replys that are more constuctive than my effort

Well with "Billions and Billions sold" why don't we have a better place in society?  Its all Burger Kings fault.  He's in cahoots with Wendy's!

You want fries with that order?

I'm sorry @Ladypcnj I can only sympathize with you on that. Therapist on the other hand is crazy. I have had 16 in 10 years. It sucks having to have to go over things. I will say though after 6 therapists I didn't have to explain my history they simply read the history.

I don't use it.   One of my daughters gave me a little to experiment with, but I haven't.  My youngest tried to put some on me once, but I din't like it.  The light was pretty bad admittedly. My ex didn't use it, and my daughters didn't use it much either when they were still at home.  (If so it was very subtle) And I don't often notice it on women my age (mid 70's)   I shave every day.  But my beard is not heavy, and essentially grey, so it's not real noticeable unless you get close with good light.  I was starting to look into electrolysis, but the pandemic hit, and I just kinda dropped it.   Sometimes I do wonder about it though.

It's something I'm just learning but I find I actually enjoy the 'craft' of it in addition to how it makes me look. Even after a fresh shave, I have a mild 5'clock shadow. For me, the primary use of makeup is to get rid of that. I'll start with the orange concealer over facial hair areas and a bit under my eyes. Liquid foundation over that and light concealer used judiciously over that (still dialing that part in). Then just a tad of powder to bring color back in certain places. There are a number of Youtube tutorials on that layering process.    I'll also pencil in my eyebrows a bit since they're blonde and otherwise not very visible. Sometimes I'll get adventurous and give mascara a try but that's a delicate skill and usually I mess it up. I don't particularly like lipstick, but just ordered a 'lip pencil' to experiment with. Hoping for a more subtle effect.

Sunday is my weekly ablution day - all of the parts that need occasional shaving get their required attention. The weather is rainy and cool today so after the ablutions and shower, I put on blue jeans, a gray t-shirt and a black front-zip hoodie along with gray sneakers.   And, I did put on make-up, not to impress anyone but just to feel as if I'm looking my best....as good as that can be given this woman is now 69 years old.

There are lots of us here willing to offer support, ideas, a shoulder or just a smile. Working with your therapist and finding your true self can be difficult process...but it will also be filled with wonder and joy as you discover that person who's been waiting inside you to be found.   Just know that you are not alone.

Thank you KayC!  I am just trying to keep breathing. I don't have a huge amount of time in my life for self exploration.  My job and responsibilities have me second guessing all my inner work.  I do have time off in the summer - coming up soon as I am a teacher.  Only a few workshops.  Looking forward ward to some introspection.     :) Mealaini

Yes, essentially. As Julia Serano says, they view trans outcomes as intrinsically worse than cis outcomes.

I used to but now its just lip gloss every now and then, in a subdued tone.

Yeah, a lot of times I don't really have anything to add to the conversation. There are some threads I seldom post on.

I have seen some things about this.  As I remember it was not very trans-friendly. The people doing these things seem to minimize the positive aspects of transition, and maximize the potential problems. Basically, make it as difficult as possible (without outright banning it) to discourage anyone from doing it.
