Coming out

Hi girls,

 

i have just come out to my wife of 11 years and the rest of my family, my Sister Niece's and grown up son were great my sister has even said i can move in with her my wife on the other hand was understandaly furious she calmed down towards the end of the day and we talked she asked questions but my marriage is obviously over the only thing is i am now having really dark thoughts im. not going to act on them but is this normal?

Yes it is somewhat normal to be having some dark thoughts as you have made a major step and are obviously worried as to whether you have done the right thing. You say that your marriage is obviously over, but it's worth discussing things as rationally as possible. Things change as people become more familiar with what is happening and have time to think. There are people here whose marriages have broken and also those whose marriages are still thriving. I am not trying to give you hope, just really stating that first impressions may or may not be the lasting ones. Please try to keep up a relaxed dialogue with all the people in your life. This will help you plan. A gender therapist would be helpful as they could help you and your wife understand things better, but obviously this may be impossible with the current lockdown (and due to waiting lists difficult anyway).
