Not singling out Viv by any means, but from a more general perspective, ALL of us need to take a deep breath and try to stay away from first person 'criticisms'. Attack is too strong a word.

Trump is an ass, on that we can all pretty much agree. Just read his Twitter feeds. But I like to think that, as a result, he'll be the architect of his own downfall. I won't allow myself to become emotional about such a politically charged discussion, and if I wasn't crazy busy today, I'd elaborate why. I'd rather use my energy for more constructive efforts that might bring about change. I think that in one of your unrelated previous posts, Viv, you mentioned something to the effect that 'once you react, they can see that. Then they gotcha and it helps to feed their egos'. Well said. I think it applies here, today.

I guess that what I'm saying is that Transgender Pulse should be a safe place to express our ideas, opinions, etc without fearing hostile reactions. Suzanne1 should have the same ability  to speak her mind without fear of intense, first person criticism. IMHO

What prompted the vitriolic thread is the attack on transgender people by the president, an attack that not only hits at transgender folk but to all LGBTQ. It is NOT that the transgender community is seeking more rights than any other group, it is that ALL minorities are under attack from this president, a message that is very clear, if you are not white and straight, there is no place for you here. A message that to his more fervent followers sends a message that those not within "The Club" are inferior, less than human, a pestilence to be eradicated, a drain of resources that should only be given to those who think like trump. It is not about superior rights...it is about equal rights. Equal=the same, no preferential treatment of any segment of this nation.

In Genesis God gives man dominion over the world...but the definition of dominion is stewardship NOT domination. Those are two very different words with very different meanings. The trans community does not seek to dominate over any other group, just as Black Lives Matter is not any higher status than all lives matter. Equality, dignity, the right to exist and breathe the same air, as put forth by the U.S. Constitution.. the right to pursue life, liberty and justice.

When the president, the person who is to lead and unite the country, openly and loudly, discriminates against women, persons of color, the LGBTQ community, the media, and any group that he dislikes,  those of his followers who share his discriminatory and hateful sentiments, feel free to not only verbally attack but also physically attack the very groups the president has issues with.

We are at a level of disunity that exceeds the chasm of the hawks and doves of the 60's. A president should be the instrument of unity. What we have is president who encourages a dialogue of disunity and his followers will listen and I fear will act.

I live in California. A state that I feel is a safer place for people like me...but that like the wind can change in a moment.

Nobody needs to attack anybody or call them names either. The president is obviously a danger to himself, because of his lack of understandings. Reasons why discussion is so important. We all should have the ability to reach the same page and move on. "The president" had to observe interior of official bunker. Why? So curious... His dietary consumption is also well documented, as well as his affairs. I guess he just likes publicly eating his own feet and shouting his "stable genius" as far as ears and eyes can see. "Witness me! Shiny and Chrome" - Mad Max

I'm happy he's so talkative on twitter, otherwise I wouldn't be able to have quotes to warrant my conclusions and solutions. Best part is we also have video footage, and voice recordings for the kids to remember. And they will... Too bad he doesn't read very much. I heard he loves them pictures, especially if he's in them. So much data. Love them charts and graphs at least I understand their importance.

Well, I voted for Mr. Trump when he ran for the Presidency in 2016, and I will vote for President Trump in the 2020 election.  I voted for him initially because I believed that he would restore the USA to its former greatness.  I will vote for him again in order to both preserve & continue the gains this country has made during his first term in office.  As far as being a hateful person, I disagree.  I am a supporter of President Trump; personally, I like him & admire his style.  If he wins the 2020 election, my family & I look forward to another invitation to his inauguration.

Another of the many reasons I have & will vote for Donald Trump for President of the United States.  Between the appointments to the US Supreme Court and other federal courts, I believe our Constitutional Republic will be protected from those who wish to destroy it for at least another generation.

Hopefully, not another Franklin Roosevelt.  My spouse's family & untold others, especially those living in rural areas, suffered greatly under that Roosevelt's reign as President of the USA.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

By the way, what precipitated this vitriolic thread?  Was it that AP-story in the News Sub-forum about the "Trump Administration Revokes Transgender Health Protection" removing privileged/protected status for TG's???  Yeah, I read that-----I just figured I'd be able to get by w/ the same equal rights as everyone else in the country.  I mean, why do TG's need to be a protected (privileged?) class???  I really don't get it-----I'm pretty certain most folks on this TG-Pulse Forum would agree that being TG is not a mental illness, at least in & of itself.  Certainly, I don't think that our TG/TS status qualifies us as being physically disabled.  Just what is it that warrants our inclusion as a protected group/class, entitled to special considerations/privileges?   With increasing frequency, I'm thinking that an awfully large majority of our TG-population just isn't satisfied with equal rights, we seem to be in a constant quest for superior rights.

Just my 2-cents worth, and as I've often stated that doesn't buy much entertainment or patronage, these days.

why do TG's need to be a protected (privileged?)

WHY? Because:

In the same way that WOMEN FOUGHT FOR THE RIGHT TO VOTE

In the same way that POC FOUGHT FOR THE RIGHT TO LIVE (AND CONTINUE TO DO SO)

affirmative action

immigrants

asians

latinx

the need for LGBTQ

naacp

Are these enough examples of why minorities need protection from violence? How many more people need to be raped and killed to warrant protect-for the HUMAN right to walk the street without being attacked for just existing? I. I can't write anymore or it's gonna be vitriolic.

Here, here, very well said, @Patti Anne and @Erikka!  Personal attacks are counter-productive, just like the riots and looting we're seeing.  I have mostly tuned out this administration and the news because it brings way too much negativity into my life.  At least until issues come up that affect me and "my kind" directly such as this attack on transgender health care.  That doesn't mean I don't care about the injuries to other groups, it just means I can only care so much before my own emotional health is threatened.  Yes, I'm limited but I don't just sit on the sidelines in ignorance or defiance.

I hope my comments on this thread are seen as factually based and not a criticism of anyone's else's thoughts or feelings.  I try really hard not to take or make politics personal.  My concern is always on the well-being of all Americans.

On that note, one thing I would like to add to my earlier comments is that this administration and republicans in general are always talking about "protecting capitalism".  Folks, capitalism is doing just FINE, it's the people who need some help now.

Despite the controversies and our current shortcomings, I think we are living in the greatest age in the history of the world.  I certainly don't see any time in humanity's past that I would want to go back to.  At the moment, things seem more complicated than ever, but that's just a sign of growth.

Hi everyone,

I believe trump did this almost entirely for political reasons. With all the trouble he's having over race issues and protests, his pathetic response to the pandemic, and the economy, there has been a little softening in support from the right wing evangelicals. With all the distractions right now, the only two groups that will really take big notice of this are the LGBTQ community and the right wing evangelicals. I don't think trump really cares all that much about the LGBTQ community either way. But he desperately needs the right wing evangelicals coming to the poles in droves this November. That is also why he did that horrible photo opp with the Bible in front of that church. Unlike the photo opp fiasco, attacks on the LGBTQ community will not be controversial with the right wing evangelicals. Anything he does to us, the evangelicals will applaud and support. As things go worse for trump, he may target us again. We're marginalized and a relatively safe target for trump right now.?

Hopefully we will have a new President this January. Let's just hang on to that hope!?

Lots of love,

Timber Wolf ?

OK, I have reviewed the entire Topic here, and by my count almost everyone has had two shots at comment here and no one has changed anyone's mind and is taking out of it what they went in with.  I am going to cut off commenting for at least 24 hours to let the dust settle.

My size. A lot of guys aren't 5'3" at seventeen. My hands. It's a less noticeable one, but my hands are very "feminine"? If you know what I mean. My voice. Very high-pitched. I don't just sound like a female, I sound like a little girl sometimes My chest. I've had to stop binding due to frequent aches doing so, and it's not nearly small enough to just cover with baggy clothes My family. They still call me she/her, so that's an automatic out. My anxiety. I might be able to pass better if I had the courage to correct people. Instead, I'm too scared to speak up, so I find it hard. My lack of men's clothes.   Anyone else have these problems, or other ones?

From what I have read and heard most people are so.busy with their everyday lives and either looking at their phones or in a hurry to notice you out and about.

This exactly ^^^   I actually really liked games where I was required to play a male character. It felt homey, in a way.

Yes, our little town is having its 3rd annual Pridefest. I've volunteered the first two years  from setup to tear down (though I do take an hour off to eat and drink in the middle).     Then I attend a bigger one a couple towns over that has had some decent entertainment from some semi-famous folks (Laura Benanti, Patrick Wilson, Carmen Carrera, Judy Gold, etc).    This year I made sure to ask off of (weekend) shifts to attend a 3rd one where a group I'm in is in the parade.

Hi Vicky, I agree with you, so far since the time I've been under the new treating doctor's care, she prescribed me medication, but it's for children lol  luckily  my pharmacy warned me from a phone call not to take the medication.

Things hit the fan today. I was reminded that "this is not a gender fluid establishment."   I had changed my preferred name and gender at the hospital on their app. My x-ray report came in with my preferred name and gender. It was not appreciated by the centre. 😬

I'm not a nutritionist but I've gone on bulking diets in the past so I can suggest a couple things to try. Foremost, food-prep stuff that you like to eat. Any 'real food' that usually sounds good to you. That way, you don't have the time-sink or hassle of cooking for every meal. You're more likely to eat if stuff if it's convenient and mostly ready. For example, I'll spend an hour or so one evening prepping burrito ingredients that will last me the next 3 nights. Then it's just a matter of microwaving the beef/beans and throwing them into a tortilla; takes 5 min.   If you need food 'on the go' often, consider prepping smoothies in advance pre-separated out into individual containers. I personally like low-no fat yogurt blended with fruit and, here's the weird part, those water flavor drops. They add sweetness without dumping in excess sugar. Insulated containers will keep them reasonably fresh non-refridgerated all day so they can even be tossed into a backpack.    Hope of those sparked some ideas!
