BLM and Pride

Hello all!

 

I tried snooping around but I couldn't find anyone talking about the BLM protests and the implications it has here. I think It's very important to be kind to trans people of color x2 right now and offer support and love. I just wanted to know if anyone here wanted to talk about it or vent or y'know anything! I live in America and things are still quite dire, hope everyone is safe and healthy.

My family are black, white and mixed. My granddaughter, due to be born in August, will be a little black girl. ?

 

I haven't commented much on the BLM thing except to express my solidarity. IMO there's too many white folks shooting their mouths off and not enough LISTENING to the experiences and perspectives of black people.

Out here where I live we (the Trans Community) talk about ALL Black Lives Matter since many of our Trans community spark plugs are Black and are mad as heck about the Black Trans lives that have been lost and/or are in danger, especially from their Cis Black siblings.  A bunch of my good friends wielded paint brushes and rollers on Hollywood Blvd in Hollywood CA to show our support during a converted Pride march a week ago.   It is an area that I give financial and "keep-my-mouth-shut" physical support to where I can.

I actually have been doing this for 53 years by now and it is amazing, distressing and heroic in many ways considering my own upbringing in a "pure white" community.  My Black friends and work colleagues have taught me so much and made me see where things need some serious change.

I could not agree more.  We have a community web site here called "NextDoor.com" where neighbors can talk to each other about neighborhood problems.  Every time the subject of BLM and the protests come up, the local white "experts" on race relations make cringe-worthy remarks about what Black people in the U.S. should feel, and do.  Makes me sick to read some of the ignorant crap they say.

The root cause of ALL discrimination lies within the human condition .. it comes from a black dark hole that exists in EVERY single human being.  To identify differences and target those that are not like "us" (the majority) is within every human heart.

Fundamentally its our choice if we chose to embrace that darkness and spew it back into society or see it as a challenge to overcome this within ourselves and our society.
In that matter our entire Trans community shares a close connection with Black Lives Matter (and all social injustice, racism, bigotry, or discrimination)

For Black Americans their struggle is systemic, historic, and will be a continuous challenge to overcome.  For Us .. .ours is just starting, but we can learn from the history of America how it can be turned against us also.

When its less "socially acceptable" to openly target Blacks, Hispanics, Illegals, Muslims, etc ... then the LGBTQ+ community becomes an easy "target".  We've already seen that happen over the last decade.

I think that might be why we are seeing this sudden uptick in attacks on Trans people (or maybe they are just more noticed now)

Perhaps I am lucky, perhaps not. I live in an area in which there is little racism,, and the racial mix, although mainly still ethnic English, is perhaps more biased to Euopean origin. Although there are some supporters of the BLM movement a lot of the thoughts are that it is an excuse to go out and riot. There are many here now who are beginning to hate many in the coloured population who they see, quite rightly in certain cases, are overstepping the mark. In essence, from a quiet community, BLM is becoming black power. Especially the overturning and rejection of history by the destruction of statues, banning of programs and criticism of books is harking back to the piles of burning books in Nazi Germany before the second world war.

 

The lesson I actually see in this is that everyone should grow, not just to help their own cause, which I see happening with some prominent people of any colour and is prevelant in much of the trans community, but to help the cause of everyone which so promotes harmony not diversion.

My main vent is how readily the trans community seems to be jumping on the blm bandwagon despite the rampant killing of black transwomen. It’s rampant enough there’s a t-shirt you can buy that reads “Stop killing black transwomen.”
 

My second vent is the fact that the “movement” appears to only care about blacks killed by cops. Some major cities have had murderers of blacks absolutely skyrocketing during and surrounding these protests. But where’s the outrage for them?

 

When I look for experiences and opinions about black lives matter, I turn to youtubers like these:

 

 

 

 

These are the only only ones who appear able to tell the truth...because if a white person so much as hints at any of the above topics, they’re instantly and permanently branded a racist by the far left.

So on the topic of blm...I’ll let the above YouTubers speak for me. I may have .3% Congolese heritage...but that’s not enough to prevent me from being called a racist if I say anything close to what the above YouTubers say regarding all of this.
